​• কিছু Verb আছে যেগুলোর পর যদি আরেকটি Verb ব্যবহার করতে হয়, তাহলে gerund (verb+ing) ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
- এসব Verb এর পরে infinitive বা base form বসে না ।

ক) procrastinate:
- (আনুষ্ঠানিক) কালক্ষেপণ/দীর্ঘসূত্রতা/গড়িমসি করা। 

খ) embellish:
- সুন্দর করা; অলংকৃত করা; চুমকি বসানো।

গ) exacerbate:

শূণ্যস্থানে 'exacerbate' বাক্যটির অর্থ পূর্ণতা পাবে।

• কোন sentence- এ একাধিক pronoun বসলে '231' নিয়মে বসবে।
- অর্থাৎ প্রথমে 'second person',
- তারপর 'third person' এবং
- শেষে 'first person'
• কিন্তু কোনো দোষ স্বীকার করলে অথবা অপরাধ স্বীকার করলে '123' নিয়মে বসবে।
- অর্থাৎ প্রথমে 'first person'
- তারপর 'second person' এবং
- শেষে 'third person' হয়।
• আর verb টি সর্বদাই plural হয়।

Correct answer: He lives at Mirpur in Dhaka.
- এখানে ঢাকার তুলনায় মিরপুর একটি ছোটস্থান তাই ছোটস্থানের পূর্বে preposition "At" বসেছে এবং বড় স্থান ঢাকার পূর্বে Preposition "in" বসেছে।

• "at" ছোট স্থানের পূর্বে বসে।

• "in" বড় স্থানের পূর্বে বসে।

• Correct sentence: The manager’s castigation of the team’s repeated mistakes motivated them to improve their performance.
- Bangla meaning: টিমের বারবারের ভুলের জন্য ম্যানেজারের কঠোর সমালোচনা তাদের কর্মদক্ষতা উন্নত করার জন্য প্রেরণা যুগিয়েছিল।

• উল্লিখিত অপশনগুলো,
ক) castigation - কঠোর শাস্তি; কঠোর সমালোচনা।

খ) appreciation - যথাযথ উপলব্ধি ও তজ্জনিত স্বীকৃতি। 

গ) indulgence - প্রশ্রয়; আশকারা।

ঘ) applause - সমর্থন বা অভিনন্দনজ্ঞাপক তুমুল হর্ষধ্বনি বা করতালি।

• অপশন গুলো বিবেচনা করলে দেখা যায় শুন্যস্থানে castigation বসালে বাক্যটি পরিপূর্ণ হয়।

• Just, just now, already, yet, ever, lately, recently ইত্যাদি থাকলে present perfect tense হয়।
- Present perfect tense -এ have/has+ past participle হয়

• Present perfect tense এর  structure:
- Subject+ has/have +Verb এর past participle + object.

• Had better এর ক্ষেত্রে:
- Had better অর্থ তবুও/ বরং ভালো।
- Had better যুক্ত sentence past tense এর হলেও তা মূলত past tense নয়।
- Had better- unreal past ইহা present/ future tense এর অর্থ প্রকাশ করে
- Had better এর পর infinitive to বসে না।
- সর্বদা verb এর base form বসে।

Examples: 
- You had better study hard if you want to pass the exam.
- She had better apologize for her behavior.

Complete sentence: He had better manage  a job.

The correct answer is: গ) has overwhelmed the world.

Complete sentence: The number of COVID-19-related deaths has overwhelmed the world.

• Structure:
• The Number of + Plural Noun + Singular Verb হয়।
- যেমন - 
- The number of girls is present in today's program.
- The number of people was very high.

অন্য অপশনগুলো ভুল:

ক) are overwhelming - plural verb, তাই এটি ভুল। 
খ) have overwhelmed - plural verb, তাই এটি ভুল। 
ঘ) has been overwhelmed - passive voice, অর্থগতভাবে ভুল। 

Avoid is followed by an -ing form, not an infinitive.

You say: They are able to avoid paying taxes.
Don’t say: They are able to avoid to pay taxes.

You say: He avoided making the same mistake again.
Don't say: He avoided to make the same mistake again.

Answer- no alternative but.

Complete sentence: He had no alternative but to apologize for his misconduct.

• No alternative but:
Meaning: If you have no alternative but to do something, you are forced to do something you do not want to do.
Bangla meaning: কোনো বিকল্প নেই শুধুমাত্র এটি ছাড়া। 

Example: 
- I'm afraid I have no alternative but to ask you to leave.

Structure: "No alternative but + to + infinitive"
অর্থ: একমাত্র উপায় হলো।

অন্য অপশনগুলো ভুল:

ক) "no alternative"
- Incomplete expression.
- "But" missing করে sentence incomplete থেকে যায়।

গ) "any alternative except"
- Context এ negative meaning দরকার ("no" দরকার "any" নয়)।
- "Except" এর চেয়ে "but" বেশি appropriate এই construction এ। 

ঘ) "no other alternative"
- Redundant: "alternative" ইতিমধ্যে "other option" বোঝায় "Other" অতিরিক্ত।

• সকল but এর পর object form বসবে None but ছাড়া, None but এর পর subject form বসে।
Structure: None but + subjective form.

কিন্তু অন্য সকল but + objective form.
• Each of, Either of, Neither of এর পরে plural noun বা pronoun এবং singular verb বসে। Either দ্বারা দুইয়ের প্রত্যেকটি এবং Neither দ্বারা দুইয়ের কোনটিই নয় বুঝানো হয়। Neither of those mattresses feels comfortable. উক্ত বাক্যটিতে mattresses হচ্ছে plural noun আর feels হচ্ছে singular verb।
• Each of, Either of, Neither of এর পরে plural noun বা pronoun এবং singular verb বসে। Either দ্বারা দুইয়ের প্রত্যেকটি এবং Neither দ্বারা দুইয়ের কোনটিই নয় বুঝানো হয়। Either of the two girls is to blame the damage. উক্ত বাক্যটিতে girls হচ্ছে plural noun আর is হচ্ছে singular verb।
• Structure: One of the + superlative degree + plural noun + singular verb + extension.
Example: One of the problems is extremely easy to solve.

Which method of organizing content points you did feel more comfortable? – বাক্যটিকে শুরুতে ভেঙে ভেঙে বুঝা যাক -

১. “Which method of organizing content points” – এই অংশটি বাক্যের subject.
এখানে “Content points” means - points of a content.
২. “with you” - (বাক্যের প‌রের অংশের সাথে সম্পর্ক বুঝাচ্ছে অর্থাৎ comfortable with you).
৩. “did feel” - verb (জোর প্রদানের জন্য এখানে did ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে).
৪. “more comfortable” - বাক্যে subjective complement হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

সম্পূর্ণ বাক্য - "Which method of organizing content points with you did feel more comfortable?"
বাক‌্যটা য‌দি এভা‌বে চিন্তা ক‌রেন, তাহ‌লে আ‌রো সহজ হয়,
Which method of organizing content points did feel more comfortable with you?

- এর বাংলা অনুবাদ হল:
"কন্টেন্ট এর প‌য়েন্টগু‌লো সাজানোর কোন পদ্ধতি আপনার জন‌্য অধিক সুবিধাজনক?"

সুতরাং, বাক্যের missing word হচ্ছে - with.

For clearing Confusion –

কিছু কিছু সাইটে বাক্যটিকে এভাবে উপস্থাপন করা হয়েছে – 
"Which method of organizing content among points you did feel more comfortable?" 
এভাবে বাক্যটিকে বিবেচনা করলে - বাক্যে you এর অবস্থান grammatically ভুল হয়। কারণ বাক‌্যটা Interrogative. আর Interrogative এ Auxiliary Verb, Subject এর পূ‌র্বে ব‌সে। কিন্তু এখা‌নে you Subject ধর‌লে দেখা যা‌চ্ছে did Auxiliary Verb Subject এর পূ‌র্বে ব‌সে নি। 

ত‌বে Subject য‌দি Wh Word বা Wh Word যুক্ত Phrase হয়, তাহ‌লে Auxiliary Verb অবশ‌্যই Subject এর প‌রে বস‌বে। তাই এখা‌নে গঠন অনুযায়ী বাক‌্য শুদ্ধ রাখ‌তে হ‌লে Wh Word যুক্ত Phrase “Which method of organizing content points” কে Subject ধর‌তে হ‌বে। তখন বাক্যটা Quasi-Passive হ‌বে অর্থাৎ object-টাই Subject এর মত ব‌্যবহৃত হ‌বে।

আরেকটা উদাহরণ দিলে স্পষ্ট হবে -
Honey tastes sweet. বাক্যটাকে এই ফরমেটে লিখলে -
=> Which sweet item to you does taste more?
একইভাবে এই বাক্যটিও হবে - Which method of organizing content points with you did feel more comfortable? 
ত‌বে ‘taste’ Verb এর সা‌থে to হ‌চ্ছে Appropriate Preposition, আর ‘comfortable’ Adjective এর সা‌থে with হ‌চ্ছে appropriate preposition. 

সুতরাং বাক্যের missing word হচ্ছে - with.

• Correct sentence: They had to postpone visiting the museum, meeting the curator, and attending the exhibition.
- Bangla meaning: তাদের জাদুঘর পরিদর্শন, কিউরেটরের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ, এবং প্রদর্শনীতে অংশগ্রহণ করার পরিকল্পনা স্থগিত করা হয়েছিল।
- প্রদত্ত sentence টি Parallelism এর শর্ত মেনে হয়েছে।

• Parallelism:
- Parallelism হলো যখন কোনো বাক্যে ধারাবাহিক কিছু তথ্য দেওয়া থাকে, তখন প্রত্যেক তথ্য গঠন করার জন্য একই গঠনরূপ ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

• Parallelism এর নিয়ম অনুসারে,
- And, or, but, be verb ইত্যাদির আগেও যা বসে পরেও তা বসে, অর্থাৎ, সমজাতীয় parts of speech বসে।
- আবার, Both...and, Not only.... but also, Either...or, Neithert...nor ইত্যাদি Correlatives এর উভয় পাশে সমজাতীয় Parts of speech বসে।
- অর্থাৎ, noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb হলে সবগুলো noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb হবে।
- আবার Infinitive, Gerund হলে সবগুলো Infinitive, Gerund হবে।

• প্রদত্ত sentence টিতে postpone হলো main verb.
- Postpone (verb) এর পরে কখনোই infinitive (to + verb) বসে না।
- তাই Postpone (verb) এর পর to এর ব্যবহার হবে না।
- Postpone (verb) এরপর সব সময় Gerund বসে তাই সবগুলোই Gerund Phrase হবে।
- আর, প্রদত্ত sentence টিতে কাজ করার বাধ্যতাকে বুঝাছে তাই এখানে Had to (Have to এর past tense অর্থে ব্যবহার করা হয়) ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

সঠিক উত্তর হলো: গ) The unfortunate accident occurred on Monday last.
যেহেতু Monday last নির্দিষ্ট অতীত সময় নির্দেশ করছে, তাই simple past tense ব্যবহার হবে → occurred.

•  বাক্যে last থাকায় বোঝা যাচ্ছে বাক্যটি past indefinite tense এ হবে।

• Yesterday, ago, long ago, long since, last, last night, last week, last month, last year, the day before yesterday, as soon as ইত্যাদি শব্দগুচ্ছ Past Indefinite Tense নির্দেশক শব্দ অর্থ এরা যদি কোনো বাক্যে থাকে তবে সেই বাক্যটি past indefinite tense এ হয়।

Other options,
ক) The unfortunate accident had occurred on Monday last.
- এটি past perfect tense.
- Past perfect সাধারণত ব্যবহার হয় দুইটি অতীত ঘটনা মধ্যে প্রথমটি বোঝাতে।
- উদাহরণ: The train had left before we reached the station.
- এখানে Monday last শুধু নির্দিষ্ট একটি অতীত সময়, অন্য কোন অতীত ঘটনার আগে হয়নি, তাই had occurred প্রয়োজন নেই।
- তাই এটি ভুল।

খ) The unfortunate accident was occurred on Monday last.
- occur হলো intransitive verb, অর্থাৎ এটি passive voice-এ ব্যবহার হয় না।
- অতএব, was occurred ভুল।

ঘ) The unfortunate accident has occurred on Monday last.
- has occurred - present perfect tense.
- Present perfect সাধারণত অতীতে শুরু হওয়া এবং বর্তমানে প্রভাবিত ঘটনা বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়।
- কিন্তু Monday last সম্পূর্ণ অতীত → present perfect ব্যবহার করা ভুল।
- ভুল।

Complete sentence: Each of the proposals has been reviewed thoroughly before final approval.

• One of, Any of, Each of, Either of, Neither of বাক্যের subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হলে verb টি singular হবে।
- অর্থাৎ, One of/Each of…+ plural noun + singular verb + ext.
- যেমন: Each of the athletes has been training for months, even years.

• More Examples:
- Each of the guests was greeted with a warm welcome.
- Each of the students was present at the field.

Other Options:
ক) were → plural past tense, ভুল, কারণ subject singular (“each”).

খ) have been → plural verb; কিন্তু each singular, তাই have নয়, has been হবে।

ঘ) are → plural verb; কিন্তু each singular, তাই verb singular হবে।

• Incorrect Sentence: It is so cold to go outside today.
- Correct Sentence: It is too cold to go outside today.

• Too + --- + to যুক্ত Simple sentence এর too + adjective + to + verb এর নিয়ম অনুসারে sentence টি Correct হবে।

• উল্লিখিত বাকি অপশনগুলো, 
- বাকী তিনটি options শুদ্ধ।

- (ক) এবং (ঘ) Simple Sentence এর too + adjective + to + verb এর নিয়ম অনুসারে সঠিক।
- (খ) Simple Sentence এর too + adjective + to + verb এর নিয়ম অনুসারে Complex Sentence করতে হলে too এর স্থলে so এবং to এর স্থলে that বসে। সে নিয়ম অনুসারে এই Sentence টি সঠিক।

- Bangla meaning: অফিসের চারপাশে গুপ্তভাবে ঘুরে বেড়ানো এবং দৃশ্যমানভাবে কাঁপতে থাকা সেই গুপ্তচরটি ছিল কাপুরুষতার নিখুঁত উদাহরণ।

• উল্লিখিত অপশনগুলো,
- cravenness - ভীরুতা; কাপুরুষতা;
- aloofness - উদাসীনতা; একাকীত্ব;
- cunning - চতুর;
- conventional - ঐতিহ্যগত; গতানুগতিক; রীতিসম্মত।

English meaning: A piece of writing that is libelous contains bad and false statements about a person.

ঘ) Pedantic:

- "on account of" হলো একটি Phrase Preposition যার দ্বারা কারণ বা কারনে কোনো কিছু ঘটার অর্থ প্রকাশ করে।
- বাক্যে "on account of unforeseen logistical problems and the sudden unavailability of the main auditorium" অংশটি কারণ বা কারণবোধক phrase হিসেবে কাজ করছে।

Meaning: Causing great damage.
Bengali meaning: দুর্ভাগ্যমূলক; বিপর্যয়কারী
Global warming may have a disastrous effect on life.
অর্থঃ বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণতা জীবনে সর্বনাশা প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে ।
এই শুন্যস্থানে Disastrous ব্যতীত অন্য শব্দ বসালে অর্থ যৌক্তিক হবে না ।

• The correct conditional sentence is - If she studies regularly, she will pass the exam.
- এটি একটি First conditional sentence.

• First conditional sentence:
- The First Conditional is used to talk about real and possible future situations.
- Structure: If + Present Simple, (Future indefinite) sub + will + base verb.
- অর্থাৎ, First Conditional এর নিয়মানুযায়ী প্রথম clause এ Present indefinite থাকলে এরপরের clause এ Future Indefinite হয়।
- যেমন: "If she studies regularly (Present Simple), she will pass the exam (will + base verb)."

- উপরের If + subordinate clauseটি present indefinite tense. তাই তার অসম্পূর্ণ অংশটি অর্থাৎ principal clauseটি future indefinite tense গঠন করে sentenceটি complete করা হয়েছে।
- এ ধরনের Clause Simple Present Tense এবং Principal Clause এ Future Tense বা Imperative ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- একটি conditional sentence-এ দুটি অংশ থাকে।
1. Condition বা শর্ত,
2. Consequence বা ফলাফল।

Complete Sentence: Everyone in the room shook hands with each other.
- রুমের প্রত্যেকে একে–অপরের সঙ্গে হাত মিলিয়েছেন।

- এখানে বোঝানো হচ্ছে যে ঘরের সবাই একে–অপরের সঙ্গে হাত মিলিয়েছে।
- অর্থাৎ কাজটি পারস্পরিকভাবে (mutual action) ঘটেছে।
- এই ধরনের পারস্পরিক কাজ বোঝাতে ইংরেজিতে আমরা “each other” ব্যবহার হয়।
 
Other Options:
ক) one other
→ একে–অপরের অর্থে এটি একা ব্যবহার করা যায় না। এখানে এটি ব্যাকরণগতভাবে সঠিক নয়।

খ) themselves
→ themselves হলো reflexive pronoun, যা নিজের উপর কাজ বোঝায়। এখানে নিজের সাথে হাত মেলানোর কথা বলা হয়নি।

গ) each one other
→ এটি ব্যাকরণগতভাবে ভুল।

Correct answer: expands.
Complete sentence: Reading classic novels every night expands her vocabulary and knowledge.
