Active and Passive Voice

• Correct Answer: ঘ) A movie is being watched by them.

• Active Voice: They are watching a movie.
- They are watching - এটি Present Continuous Tense.
- Passive form হয়: am/is/are + being + verb এর 3rd form (past participle).

• Passive: A movie is being watched by them.

• Other options:
ক) A movie watched by them. - কোনো auxiliary verb (is/being) নেই। ভুল।

খ) A movie is watched by them. - এটি Simple Present tense-এ হয়েছে।

গ) A movie was being watched by them. - এটি Past Continuous tense.

Let যুক্ত imperative বাক্য-
Let + object + be + v3 (past participle) + by + you.
Let the book be read by you.
Let the sum be done by you.

কে Active করার উপায়ঃ
Verb + object.

• Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে।
- Tense ও Person অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb বসাতে হয়।
- Object টি Subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে be/being/been বসাতে হয়।
- মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- সবার শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে। 

Active: Who painted this picture?
Passive: By whom was this picture painted? 

Auxiliary verb হিসেবে do/does থাকলে Passive করার সময় এগুলোর পরিবর্তে am/is/are আর did থাকলে এর পরিবর্তে was/were বসাতে হয়।
Did he play football? → Was football played by him?

Correct Answer: খ) Let not the students be disturbed.

• Do not দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া imperative sentence -এর active voice থেকে passive করার নিয়ম:
→ প্রথমে Let not বসে;
→ Active voice এর object টির subject রূপে বসে;
→ be বসে;
→ মূল verb -এর past participle বসে।

• Structure: Let not + object টির subject হয় + be + মূল verb এর past participle + extensions.

• সুতরাং নিয়মানুযায়ী, সঠিক Passive form হলো-  Let not the students be disturbed.

- Active: The villagers believed that he was an honest leader.
- Passive: He was believed to be an honest leader.

- এই ধরনের complex বাক্যে যেখানে that-clause আছে, সেখানে passive form তৈরির দুটি উপায় আছে। যথা-

- প্রথম উপায় (Personal passive):
- সাধারণত Acknowledge, assume, think, claim, believe, know, report, understand, ইত্যাদি verb যুক্ত Active voice এর Passive করার নিয়ম-
- Personal object টিকে subject ধরা হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- মূল verb -এর past participle + to be + direct object + by + subject -এর objective form.
- যেমন:
- Active: People thought that the autocrat was corrupt.
- Passive: The autocrat was thought to be corrupt.

- দ্বিতীয় উপায় (Impersonal passive):
- দ্বিতীয় অংশকে 'It' ধরে। যেমন:
- Active: The villagers believed that he was an honest leader.
- Passive: It was believed that he was an honest leader.

- Subject হিসেবে People/villagers ইত্যাদি থাকলে Passive voice -এ সাধারণত তা লেখা হয় না।
- তবে, দ্বিতীয় অংশে transitive verb থাকলে দ্বিতীয় অংশেরও Passive করতে হয়।

Voice change এর নিয়মানুসারে: 

1. প্রথমে  সেই বাক্যটির subject, the verb and the object: S+V+O চিহ্ণিত করতে হবে। 
2. এরপর সেই বাক্যের Object কে subject করতে হবে। 
3. তারপর tense এবং subject অনুসারে auxiliary verb গ্রহন করতে হবে। 
4. বাক্যস্থিত main verb  এর  past participle বসাতে হবে। 
5. অধিকাংশ ক্ষেত্রে , preposition "by“ যুক্ত করতে হবে। 
6. সবশেষে সেই বাক্যের Subject কে object  এর জায়গায় বসাতে হবে। 

সুতরাং, সঠিক বাক্যটি হবে: An email was being drafted by Safia. 

Has to + be + verb এর p.p যুক্ত বাক্যের ক্ষেত্রে active voice এর structure - Object কে subject + have to / has to + verb এর base form + subject কে object.
সুতরাং, সঠিক active voice: You have to do it.

Voice = ক্রিয়া প্রকাশের ভঙ্গিমাকেই voice বা বাচ্য বলে। ক্রিয়ার প্রকাশভঙ্গি বলে দেয় কর্তা কাজটি নিজে করছে, না কর্তার দ্বারা কোন কাজ সম্পন্ন হচ্ছে।
Active voice = যে sentence এ subject নিজে সক্রিয় হয়ে কাজ সম্পন্ন করে সে sentence এ verb এর Active voice হয়।
Passive voice = যে sentence এ subject নিজে কাজটি করে না বরং object এর কাজটি তার ওপর এসে পড়ে তখন সে sentence এ verb এর passive voice হয়।
Active voice এ subject নিজে কাজ করে। passive voice এ subject টি কাজটিকে গ্রহণ করে অর্থাৎ কাজটি তার উপর পতিত হয়।

উল্লিখিত বাক্যটি Present Perfect Tense এর Interrogative sentence। এর Passive Voice করার নিয়ম:

Structure: Has/Have + object + been + V3 + by + subject + ?

• Present perfect tense (have/has) যুক্ত sentence কে Active থেকে Passive Voice করার নিয়ম:
- Object → subject হয়।
- Subject ও tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb হিসেবে have been/ has been বসে।
- মূল verb এর past participle form বসে।
- by বসে।
- Subject → object হয়।

• Object (the tree) শুরুতে বসবে,
- Has auxiliary verb হিসেবে থাকবে,
- been + V3 (uprooted) হবে,
- by a storm শেষে বসবে।

Active: Has a storm uprooted the tree?
Passive: Has the tree been uprooted by a storm?

- Active: She played on the flute.
- Passive: The flute was played on by her.

• Active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে এবং মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- মূল verb (group verb হিসেবে) এর সাথে ব্যবহৃত preposition টি passive voice ও অপরিবর্তীত থাকে।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয় এবং তার পূর্বে preposition (by, with, at, to, in বসে)।

- সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক passive form টি হবে- গ) The flute was played on by her.

• Agree/ be anxious/ arrange/ determine/ be determined/ decide/ demand + infinitive object যুক্ত sentence কে active voice কে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত active voice এর subject ও verb বসবে।
- that বসে।
- Infinitive এর পরের object বসবে।
- should be বসে।
- Infinitive এর পরের verb এর past participle বসে।

• Active voice: They agreed to sign the contract. 
• Passive voice: They agreed that the contract should be signed.

• Active voice এ cover, decorate, fill, seize, ইত্যাদি থাকলে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- তারপর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- preposition হিসেবে with বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।

• Active voice: Panic seized the boy.
• Passive voice: The boy was seized with panic.

• Agree/ be anxious/ arrange/ determine/ be determined/ decide/ demand + infinitive + object যুক্ত Active voice কে passive করার নিয়ম:

- প্রদত্ত Active voice এর subject ও verb বসবে।
- that বসবে।
- infinitive এর পরের Object (direct object) বসবে।
- should be বসবে।
- infinitive এর পরের verb এর past participle বসবে।

Active: They decided to postpone the meeting.
Passive: They decided that the meeting should be postponed.

Active voice কে Passive voice- এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
Active Voice এর object‌ টি Passive voice এর subject হয় + Tense অনুযায়ী Auxiliary verb + মূল verb এর past participle + Active voice এর subject টি Passive voice এর object হয় এবং তার পূর্বে Preposition (By, with, at, to ,in) বসে।
আর কোন ব্যক্তির উপর বিরক্ত বোঝাতে annoyed with কিন্তু বস্তু বা কাজের উপর বিরক্ত বোঝাতে annoyed at বসে।
তাই, প্রশ্নোক্ত বাক্যটির passive voice হবে- Sometimes I am annoyed at his behaviour.

- Present tense এর Active voice থেকে Passive voice করার নিয়ম: Object টির subjective form + am/is/are + মূল verb এর past participle + by/to/with/in etc + subject এর objective form.
- surprised এর পর সবসময় at বসে with/by/in নয়।
যেমন:
- Active voice: You surprise me.
- Passive Voice: I am surprised at you.

- Active: Submit the report by tomorrow.
- Passive: Let the report be submitted by tomorrow.

• Let যুক্ত Imperative sentence এর Active voice কে passive voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে Let বসে।
- Object টির subject রূপে বসে।
- be বসে।
- মূল verb এর past participle form বসে।
- by বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টির Object রূপে বসে।

• Structure:
- Let + Object টির subject বসে + be বসে + মূল verb এর past participle form বসে + by + subject টির Object রূপে বসে।

More Examples:
Active: Let him finish the task.
Passive: Let the task be finished by him.

যদি verb টি Cognate Verb হয় তাহলে Active Voice এ Object না থাকতে পারে, Passive করার সময় ঐ রকম একটি Object কে Subject বানিয়ে বসাতে হবে।

Active: Who is making the noise?
Passive: By whom is the noise being made?
- প্রদত্ত বাক্যটি একটি Present Continuous Tense-এর প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য। তাই এটি Passive করার সময় 'is being made' ব্যবহৃত হবে।

• Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে।
- এরপর Tense ও Person অনুযায়ী modal auxiliary Verb বসাতে হয়। 
- Object টি Subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে be/being/been বসাতে হয়। 
- মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- সবার শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

Active voice: They might win the game.
Passive voice: The game might be won by them.

• Active voice এ Modal Auxiliary Verb থাকলে তা Passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Modal Auxiliary verb গুলো হলো: Can, Could, May, Might, Will, Would, Shall, Should, Ought to, Used to, Must ইত্যাদি।
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হিসেবে বসে।
- Active voice এর Modal verb টি বসে।
- be বসে।
- প্রদত্ত মুল verb এর past participle বসে।
- by বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি Passive voice এ object হিসেবে বসে।

• Correct answer: The proposal will be approved by the committee tomorrow.

- Active voice টি ভবিষ্যৎ কাল (will approve) এ।
- The committee will approve the proposal tomorrow.
- ভবিষ্যৎ কাল Passive form হলো: Subject + will be + verb এর past participle.
- Active voice এর object “The proposal” Passive voice এর subject হয়।
- “Tomorrow” সময়সূচক শব্দ, বাক্যের শেষে স্থান পাবে ।
- অপশন খ সঠিক passive রূপ।
- খ) The proposal will be approved by the committee tomorrow.

প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যটিতে verb এর active এর present indefinite (prints) ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। এর passive রূপ am/is/are printed. যা কিনা শুধু অপশন c তে পাওয়া যায়। সুতরাং উত্তর হলো c.
অপশন ‍a তে The documents-plural কিন্তু is –singular.
অপশন b তে বাক্যটিতে active এর রূপ ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
অপশন b ও d তে যথাক্রমে passive এর present continuous ও past indefinite ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
বি: দ্র: active এর গঠণের মতো passive এর গঠণগুলো মুখস্ত করে নিলে active থেকে passive রূপান্তর করা খুবই সহজ হয়ে যাবে।

• Correct Answer: The house is being painted by them.
 

- They are painting the house.
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়ে যায়।
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject এ রুপান্তর হয়।
- মূল verb এর past participle হয় এবং subject ও tense অনুসারে auxiliary verb/be verb হয়।
- Present Continuous থাকলে তা পরিবর্তন করে - am being, is being, are being করতে হয়।
- The house is being painted by them.

Active Voice: She knows her.
Passive Voice: She is known to her.

• Present indefinite tense যুক্ত Active Voice কে Passive Voice করার নিয়ম -
- প্রথমে object = her, passive voice- এ subject = She রূপে বসেছে।
- Passive voice- এ subject = She এর পর active voice- এর tense অনুসারে auxiliary verb = is বসেছে। 
- 'is' এরপর principal verb- এর past participle form = known বসেছে। 
- known এরপর preposition 'to' বসেছে, known এরপর by বসে না। 
- 'to' এরপর active voice এর subject = She, passive voice এ object = her রূপে বসেছে।

অন্য অপশনগুলো:
ক) She is known by her. → এখানে by ব্যবহার ভুল, কারণ know verb passive হলে to ব্যবহৃত হয়।
গ) Her is known by she. → Subject-object form ভুল।
ঘ) She was known to her. → Past tense হয়ে গেছে, মূল বাক্য present indefinite.

• May, might, can, could, must, ought to, going to যুক্ত Active voice কে Passive voice এ পরিবর্তন করার নিয়ম: 
- May, might, can, could, must, ought to, going to এদের পর 'be' বসে এবং তার পরেই মূল verb এর Past Participle বসে। 

Structure: Object টির Subjective form + may/might --------- + be + মূল verb এর Past Participle + by + subject টির objective form. 

Active: I may help you. 
Passive: You may be helped by me. 

Active: They can solve the problem easily.
Passive: The problem can be solved easily by them.

Options বিশ্লেষণ:

ক) The problem to be solved easily by them.
- “to be solved” ব্যবহার ভুল।

খ) The problem can be solved by them.
- “easily” বাদ দেওয়া হয়েছে। তাই এটি ভুল। 

ঘ) The problem could be solved easily by them.
- Modal verb ভুল। মূল বাক্যে can, এখানে could ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।
