Active and Passive Voice

• Voice Change of Imperative Sentence:
- Imperative Sentence-এ প্রদত্ত Active Voice কে Passive Voice-এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে-
- প্রথমে Let বসে + Active Voice-এর Object টি Let-এর Subject হয় + be + Principal Verb-এর Past Participle Form (V) বসে।

- Active voice: Order me some food.
- Passive voice: Let some food be ordered for me.
- মূল Verb + Indirect object (me, him, her, them, us, you) ও Direct object যুক্ত Active Voice কে Passive Voice করতে হলে Direct object-টি Subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং Indirect object টির পূর্বে preposition 'by'-এর পরিবর্তে for বা to বসে। যেমন:

Active: Buy me a shirt.
Passive: Let a shirt be bought for me.

ধাপ-০১ঃ শুরুতে Auxiliary verb যুক্ত Interrogative sentence কে Passive voice এ রূপান্তর করতে প্রথমেই বাক্যটিকে Assertive sentence এ রূপান্তরিত করতে হবে। যেমন, Do you know him? এর Assertive sentence হচ্ছে You know him.
ধাপ-০২ঃ Assertive sentence এর Active voice কে Passive voice- এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম: Active Voice এর object‌ টি Passive voice এর subject হয় + Tense অনুযায়ী Auxiliary verb + মূল verb এর past participle + Active voice এর subject টি Passive voice এর object হয় এবং তার পূর্বে Preposition (by, with, at, to,in) বসে। আর known এরপর preposition to ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন- You know him এর passive voice হচ্ছে He is known to you.
Passive voice এর Assertive sentence কে Interrogative sentence এ রূপান্তরিত করতে হবে। যেমন, He is known to you এর Interrogative sentence হচ্ছে Is he known to you?

Voice Change of Imperative Sentence:
- Imperative Sentence-এ প্রদত্ত Active Voice কে Passive Voice-এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে-
- প্রথমে Let বসে + Active Voice-এর Object টি Let-এর Subject হয় + be + Principal Verb-এর Past Participle Form (V) বসে।

Active: Do it.
Passive: Let it be done.

Active: Pour water.
Passive: Let water be poured.

Explanation:
Have/Has/Had + V₃ যুক্ত Active voice কে Passive voice এ রূপান্তর।
Active: Subject + have/has/had + V₃ + Object.
Passive: Object টি Subject হয় + have/has/had + been + V₃ + by + Subject টি Object হয়।
N.B. Active voice টি Present perfect হলে have/has এবং past perfect হলে had বসে।

Correct Sentence: The letter had been written by me.

• Active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- তারপর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।
- তার পূর্বে preposition (by, with, at, to, in) বসে।

- Active voice: I am to make a call.
- Passive voice: A call is to be made by me.

Active: I am to submit the report today.
Passive: The report is to be submitted by me today.

Other options,
 
ক) The report is being submitted by me today.
- এটা Present Continuous Passive.
- এর অর্থ হলো — "রিপোর্টটি এখন জমা দেওয়া হচ্ছে" (এই মুহূর্তে চলছে)।
- কিন্তু মূল বাক্যে "am to submit" মানে হলো ভবিষ্যতে করার পরিকল্পনা/বাধ্যবাধকতা। তাই এই option-এর অর্থ ও structure দুটোই ভুল।

খ) The report to be submitted by me today. 
- এই বাক্যে কোনো Auxiliary Verb- 'is' নেই।
- তাই এটা অসম্পূর্ণ বাক্য (Incomplete Sentence).

ঘ) The report is to submitted by me today. 
- এখানে "be" শব্দটি বাদ পড়ে গেছে।
- Passive structure হওয়া উচিত ছিল "is to be submitted" কিন্তু এখানে লেখা আছে "is to submitted" — যা ব্যাকরণগতভাবে সম্পূর্ণ ভুল।

• The correct passive voice is: গ) The project has been completed by them.

• Active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- তারপর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- preposition (by, with, at, to, in) বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।

Present perfect tense এর passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Object টির subjective form + have been/ has been + মূল verb এর past participle + by + subject এর objective form.

সেই অনুসারে, 
Active voice: They have completed the project.
Passive voice: The project has been completed by them.

Other Examples:
1.
Active: He has written a letter.
Passive: A letter has been written by him.

2.
Active: They have finished the work.
Passive: The work has been finished by them.

Active: Some children were helping the wounded man.
Passive: The wounded man was being helped by some children.

• প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যটি Past continuous tense এ আছে।
- Past continuous tense যুক্ত active voice কে passive করার নিয়ম:
- Object টি subject হয়ে বসবে।
- Tense ও person অনুযায়ী was/were + being বসবে।
- এরপর verb এর past participle form + by + subject টি object হয়ে বসবে।

- Active Voice: Who has opened the fridge? 
- Passive Voice: By whom has the fridge been opned?

• Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে।
- Tense ও Person অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb বসাতে হয়। 
- Object টি Subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে  be/being/been বসাতে হয়। 
- মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- সবার শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

- Active: Who has locked the door?
- Passive: By whom has the door been locked?

প্রশ্নটি modal verb এর নিয়ম থেকে করা হয়েছে।
Can, could, may, might, will, would ইত্যাদি modal verb এর ‍active ও passive কাঠামো।
Active: Subj. + modal + v1 + obj.
Passive: Subj. (obj.)+modal + be + V3 + by + obj. (subj.)
অপশন a তে ought to-modal verb এর পর be+V3 ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। বিধায় এটি সঠিক উত্তর।
অপশন b ও c তে modal verb এর পর be+V3 না থাকায় এগুলো উত্তর হবে না।
অপশন d তে ought to এর to ব্যবহৃত না হওয়ায় এটি ভুল।

- Active: Let her organize the event.
- Passive: Let the event be organized by her.

• Let + ব্যক্তিবাচক object যুক্ত Imperative sentence -এর Active voice কে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে Let বসে।
- বস্তুবাচক Object বসে।
- be বসে।
- মূল verb এর past participle form বসে।
- by + ব্যক্তিবাচক object বসে।

- Passive: Let the work be completed by him.

• Make, See, Feel, Let, Know, heed, Bid, Dare, Watch ইত্যাদি Verb থাকলে Active Voice কে Passive Voice রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর Object টি Passive voice এর Subject হিসেবে বসে।
- Tense অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb বসে।
- মূল verb এর Past participle form বসে।
- Make, See, Feel, Let, Know, heed, Bid, Dare, Watch ইত্যাদি Verb থাকলে Active Voice এ to উহ্য থাকে।
- কিন্তু Passive করার সময় তাদের পর to বসে এবং ২য় verb টির Present form বসে।
- তবে, Let Verb টির পরে Active ও Passive Voice এ To বসে না। 
- by বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি Passive voice এ object হিসেবে বসে। 

• Active Voice: We saw them leave the room. 
• Passive Voice: They were seen to leave the room by us.

- Active: They have to respect their elders.
- Passive: Their elders have to be respected by them.

• Active voice -এ am to/is to/are to/have to/has to ইত্যাদি থাকলে Passive voice -এ am to/is to/are to/have to/has to -এর পরে be বসে।
​- তারপর be এর পরে মূল verb -এর past participle বসে।

• ​​Passive Structure: (object becomes subject) + am to/is to/are to/have to/has to + be + (passive verb form) + by + (subject becomes object).

- Passive: The rules have to be followed by us.

- ​Active: I have to inform the manager.
- Passive: The manager has to be informed by me.

• সঠিক উত্তর: ক) By whom was this house built?

- Active Voice-এ Who থাকলে passive voice-এ 'By whom' এবং Active Voice-এ 'Whom' থাকলে passive voice-এ 'Who' হবে।

- what, which, why ইত্যাদি থাকলে পরিবর্তন হবে না। 

- প্রথমে WH word-এর পরিবর্তিত শব্দ ও পরে Tense অনুসারে Auxiliary Verb বসিয়ে Passive Voice হবে। শেষে? হবে।

Active voice: Who taught you English?
Passive voice: By whom were you taught English?

• Am/is/are/was/were +(verb+ing) যুক্ত Interrogative sentence কে passive করার নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে Am/is/are/was/were বসে।
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Auxiliary verb হিসেবে being বসে।
- তারপর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- তারপর by + Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।
- শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

• Structure:
- Active: Am/Is/Are + Subject + (verb+ing) + object?
- Passive: Am/Is/Are + Subject + being + past participle of verb +by+object?

More examples:
- Active: Were the boys flying kites?
- Passive: Were kites being flown by the boys?

Correct Answer: Let not the exhibits be touched.

• Do not দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া imperative sentence -এর active voice থেকে passive করার নিয়ম:
→ প্রথমে Let not বসে;
→ Active voice এর object টির subject রূপে বসে;
→ be বসে;
→ মূল verb -এর past participle বসে।

• Structure: Let not + object টির subject হয় + be + মূল verb এর past participle + extensions.

• সুতরাং নিয়মানুযায়ী, সঠিক Passive form হলো- Let not the exhibits be touched.

• Passice Voice - By whom were you taught coding? 

- Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:

- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে + Tense person অনুযায়ী Auxiliary বসে + Object, Subject হয় + অনেক সময় tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে be/ being/been বসাতে হয় + মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে + প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

- Active: Who taught you English?
- Passive: By whom were you taught English?

• Do not দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া Imparetive sentence এর Active voice কে Passive voice এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- Let not দিয়ে Passive voice এর বাক্যটি শুরু হবে।
- Active voice এর object টি Passive voice এ subject হিসেবে বসে।
- be বসে।
- মূল verb এর past participle form বসে।

• Active Voice: Do not open the window.
• Passive Voice: Let not the window be opened.

- Active voice টি present indefinite tense এর। 
- Present indefinite tense যুক্ত active voice কে passive voice এ রুপান্তর করার নিয়ম-

• Model Auxiliary Verb যুক্ত Active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- model Auxilary গুলোর সাথে be যুক্ত করে principle verb - এর past participle form বসাতে হয়। 
- preposition (by, with, at, to, in) বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।

- Model Auxiliary Verb যেমন - can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, must, need, ought to, going to ইত্যাদি। 

Active Voice: You must do your duties.
Passsive Voice: Your duties must be done by you.

• Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে।
- এরপর Tense ও Person অনুযায়ী modal auxiliary Verb বসাতে হয়। 
- Object টি Subject হয় 
- Tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে  be/being/been বসাতে হয়। 
- মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- সবার শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে। 

• Present Continuous Tense passive voice করার structure নিম্ন রূপ:
- Active form এর object + am/is/are + being + verb এর past participle + Active form এর Subject এর Objective form + extension.

am/is/are/was/were + to এবং Have/has/had/shall have/will have + to,
be going to এদের Passive Structure হচ্ছে -
Subject + {am/is/are/was/were + to Have/has/had/shall have/will have + to be going to} + be + v₃ + ......

Past indefinite tense এর active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম: object এর subjective form + was/were +
verb এর past participle form + by + subject এর objective form.

অতএব, প্রদত্ত বাক্যের সঠিক passive form- Whenever I said something, I was never understood by her.

Active: Who wrote this poem?
Passive: By whom was this poem written?

• Who যুক্ত Interrogative Sentence এর Active Voice কে Passive Voice এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Who এর পরিবর্তে প্রথমে By whom বসে।
- Tense ও Person অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb বসাতে হয়। 
- Object টি Subject হয়।
- Tense অনুযায়ী কর্তার পরে  be/being/been বসাতে হয়। 
- মূল Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- সবার শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

• প্রদত্ত বাক্যটি Past Indefinite Tense-এ আছে
- Past Indefinite Tense-এর Active Voice কে Passive করার সময় Object অনুযায়ী was বা were বসে।
- এখানে Object হলো 'this poem' (singular), তাই was বসবে।

• Where যুক্ত Active voice থেকে Passive voice করার নিয়মঃ
- Where + be verb (tense অনুযায়ী) + subject + Past participle verb+ by + object + ?

Example:
Active: Where did he find you?
Passive: Where were you found by him?

• Make, See, Feel, Let, Know, heed, Bid, Dare, Watch ইত্যাদি Verb থাকলে Active Voice কে Passive Voice রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- Active voice এর Object টি Passive voice এর Subject হিসেবে বসে।
- Tense অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb বসে।
- মূল verb এর Past participle form বসে।
- Make, See, Feel, Let, Know, heed, Bid, Dare, Watch ইত্যাদি Verb থাকলে Active Voice এ to উহ্য থাকে।
- কিন্তু Passive করার সময় তাদের পর to বসে এবং ২য় verb টির Present form বসে।
- তবে, Let Verb টির পরে Active ও Passive Voice এ To বসে না। 
- by বসে।
- Active voice এর subject টি Passive voice এ object হিসেবে বসে। 

• Active Voice: She made him complete the task.
• Passive Voice: He was made to complete the task by her.

Going to যুক্ত বাক্যের passive করার সময় Going to + be + verb এর past participle হয়।
যেমনঃ He is going to open a shop. এর passive হবে - A shop is going to be opened by him.

সুতরাং, সঠিক passive form হবে - The market is going to be sold by them.

• 'Please' যুক্ত Imperative sentence কে Active Voice থেকে Passive Voice করার নিয়ম:
- Please/ kindly এর পরিবর্তে Passive Voice- এ 'You are requested to' বসে।
- Negative sentence এ to এর পূর্বে not বসে।
- Principal verb থেকে বাকি অংশ বসে।
- Active voice টি Present Tense এ রয়েছে তাই Passive Voice এ 'Present Tense' হয়েছে।

• Active voice: Please do not enter the room.
• Passive voice: You are requested not to enter the room.

• Active Voice-এ Who থাকলে passive voice করার নিয়ম:
- passive voice-টি 'By whom' দিয়ে আরম্ভ হবে।
- Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
- Object টি subject  হিসেবে বসবে।
- অনেক সময় tense অনুযায়ী be/being/been বসে।
- মূল verb এর past participle বসে।

Active voice: Who taught you typing?
Passive voice: By whom were you taught typing?

অপশন b তে passive voice এর গঠণ ফলো করা হয়েছে। এটি passive এর past indefinite tense এর গঠণ। সুতরাং উত্তর হলো b.
Passive past indefinite এর গঠণ: ‍Sub. + was/were + V3 + by + obj.
অপশন a, c ও d তে যথাক্রমে ‍active এর গঠণ ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

• Correct Answer: খ) The contract will be signed by the manager.

- মূল বাক্যটি Future Indefinite Tense-এ: The manager will sign the contract.
- Passive voice-এ subject “The contract” হবে, এবং future tense রূপান্তরে ব্যবহৃত হয়: will be + past participle.
- “sign” এর past participle হলো “signed”.
- তাই সঠিক passive রূপ হবে: will be signed.
- Passive voice: The contract will be signed by the manager.

• Other options:
ক) The contract is signed by the manager. → এটি present tense; ভুল।

গ) The contract will signed by the manager. → “be” বাদ গেছে; ভুল গঠন।

ঘ) The contract was being signed by the manager. → এটি past continuous tense; তাই ভুল।

- Active: The cake tastes delicious.
- Passive: The cake is delicious when it is tasted.

- প্রদত্ত বাক্যটি একটি Quasi Passive Voice -এর উদাহরণ।

• Feel, look, smell, read, write, taste, sell, ইত্যাদি Quasi-Passive verb গুলোর পরে complement থাকলে Passive করার নিয়ম-
• এই ধরনের Active voice -কে দুই ভাবে passive করা যায়:
1) Active voice -এর subject টিই passive voice -এর subject হিসেবে বসে + tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে + complement টি বসে + when + প্রথম subject অনুযায়ী if/ they বসে + আবারো tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb + মূল verb এর past participle.
- যেমন:
- Active: The cake tastes delicious.
- Passive: The cake is delicious when it is tasted.

2) Active voice -এর subject টিই passive voice -এর subject হিসেবে বসে + tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে + মূল verb এর past participle + complement টি বসে।
- যেমন:
- The book reads difficult.
- The book is read difficult.

• সাধারণ passive structure টি হলো-
- Subject + be verb + complement + when (if) + it/they + be verb + V3.

Passive voice কে Active voice এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:

মূল verb এর আগের be verb বাদ যাবে।
Be verb এর form অনুযায়ী মূল verb বসবে।
