Parts of Speech

• Complete sentence: A lot of students are taking this exam.
- Bangla meaning: অনেক শিক্ষার্থী এই পরীক্ষায় অংশগ্রহণ করছে।

• Subject-Verb Agreement অনুযায়ী,
- A lot of/lots of এর পরে যদি Plural Noun থাকে, তাহলে verb টি Plural হবে।
- যেমন: A lot of students are attending in this exam.
- 'A lot of students' দ্বারা plurality বুঝায়, অর্থাৎ, students হলো Plural Noun.

- তাই, প্রদত্ত শূন্যস্থানে plural verb 'are' বসবে।
- "have" ভুল কারণ (taking = present continuous) বুঝাতে এখানে "to be" verb প্রয়োজন।

• আবার,
- A lot of/lots of + Singular Noun + Singular Verb.
- "A lot of" এর পরে যদি singular noun (uncountable noun) থাকে, তাহলে verb টি singular হয়।
- যেমন: A lot of news in those papers is unreliable.

- Here, 'waiting' is - a gerund.

- Here, “waiting” comes after the preposition “of”, so it must function as a noun.
- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে, waiting (verb+ing)- preposition “of” -এর object হিসেবে বসে noun -এর কাজ করেছে তাই এটি gerund.
 
• Gerund:
- Verb -এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি noun -এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ, একই সাথে Verb ও noun -এর কাজ করে, তখন তাকে Gerund বলে।
- সহজে → Gerund = Verb + ing = noun = Verb + noun -এর কাজ করে।
- Gerunds don’t describe action—they act as nouns.

• Functions of the Gerund:
1. As a subject of a verb: Rising early is a good habit.
2. As an object of a verb: I like reading poetry.
3. As an object of a preposition: I am tired of waiting.
4. As a complement of a verb: Seeing is believing.
5. As absolutely (part of a compound noun): This is my writing table.

অন্যদিকে,
• Present participle:
- Verb -এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি adjective -এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ, একই সাথে Verb ও adjective -এর কাজ করে, তাহলে তাকে present participle বলে।
- সহজ ভাষায় → present participle হলো Verb + ing = adjective = Verb + adjective কাজ করে।
- Present participle দ্বারা চলমান sense বোঝায়।
- যেমন: Everything was in going order.

• Infinitive:
- Infinitive হচ্ছে verb এর base form অথবা to + base form.
- যেমন: go, to go.

• Infinitive দুই রকম হতে পারে। যেমন:
- To -যুক্ত infinitive এবং
- To -বিহীন infinitive বা Bare Infinitive.

• Verbal Noun:
- কোন বাক্যের Verb + ing - এর পূর্বে the এবং পরে of থাকলে তাকে Verbal Noun বলে।
- The + verb+ing + of = verbal noun.
- যেমন: The making of the plan is in hand.

• Ewe: (Feminine gender)
- English meaning: A female sheep.
- Bangla meaning: ভেড়ী (মহিলা)।
- Ewe এর Masculine gender হলো: Ram.

Ram:
- English meaning: A male sheep.
- Bangla meaning: ভেড়া (পুরুষ)।

Other Options:
ক) Rooster
- Gender: Masculine.

Mendacious (adjective)
- English Meaning: Not telling the truth; lying.
- Bangla Meaning: (আনুষ্ঠানিক) মিথ্যা; মিথ্যাবাদী: mendacious reports.

Other Forms:

সুতরাং সঠিক উত্তর হবে,  Mendacity. 

এছাড়া অপশনের অন্য দুটি শব্দ  মূল শব্দটির সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট নয়। এগুলো হলো:
- Mandator যার অর্থ: An authority who issues a mandate. 
- Menace যার অর্থ: Something that is a source of danger.

Mendacious শব্দের কিছু সমার্থক ও বিপরীতার্থক অর্থ দেখে নেই: 

Synonyms: Untruthful (মিথ্যাবাদী), Dishonest (অসাধু), Deceitful (প্রতারণাপূর্ণ), Lying (মিথ্যা), Fraudulent (ধোঁকাবাজি)।

Appropriate preposition Absent এরপর from বসে।
Absent from মানে অনুপস্থিত।
যেমন- The man was absent from the meeting.

- তবে দুইটি Clause কে সংযোগ (connect) করতে 'Since' Conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• Conjunction:
- যে Part of speech দুই বা ততোধিক Word, Phrase বা Clause এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে, তাকে Conjunction বলে।

• There are three basic types of conjunctions:
1. Coordinating conjunctions.
2. Subordinating Conjunctions.
3. Correlative Conjunctions.

1. Coordinating Conjunctions:
- যা সমমানের দুইটি word, phrase বা clause এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে।
যেমন:

- but, etc.

2. Subordinating Conjunctions:
- যে Conjunction একটি clause এর শুরুতে বসে অন্য clause এর স্থান, কাল, ধরণ, মাত্রা, ইত্যাদি বুঝানোর জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাকে Subordinating Conjunction বলে।
যেমন:

3. Correlative Conjunctions:
- পরস্পর সম্পর্কযুক্ত জোড়ায় জোড়ায় ব্যবহৃত conjunction গুলোই Correlative Conjunctions.
যেমন:
- as…...as,
- either.…..or,
- not only…..but also, etc.

প্রশ্নে a) ও b) দুটোই noun যাদের অর্থ ভিত্তি।
d) adverb যার অর্থ মৌলিকভাবে।
c) adjective যার অর্থ মৌলিক।

• Complete sentence: I felt nervous but answered confidently.

• Linking verb (be verb, appear, grow, look, feel, seem, smell, taste), ইত্যাদির পরে adjective বসে।
- তবে উক্ত adjective কে modify করতে তার পূর্বে very, really ইত্যাদি adverb বসে।

- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে 'felt' হলো linking verb তাইএর পর adjective (nervous) বসবে।
- এবং 'answered' হলো action verb তাই এটিকে modify করতে adverb লাগবে, তাই adverb হিসেবে confidently বসবে।

• Structure:
1. Sub+ Linking verb+ adjective.
- Example: She looks happy.

2. Sub+ linking verb+ preposition + adverb.
- Example: She looks up happily.

3. Sub+ linking verb+ adverb+ adjective.
- Example: She is extraordinarily beautiful.

How a man can become so magnanimous, understand- verb এর object হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
transitive verb এর object হিসাবে noun clause ব্যবহৃত হয়।
টেকনিক: যদি Clause টির পরিবর্তে it বসিয়ে বাক্য পরিপূর্ণ sense create করে, তবে সেটা noun clause হবে.
যেমন- I don’t understand it.

• Neuter gender:
- যে Noun দ্বারা কোন প্রাণীর স্ত্রী বা পুরুষ কোন অবস্থাকে বোঝায় না তাকে Neuter Gender বলে।
- যেমন: Table, chair, house, pencil, tree, car, computer ইত্যাদি।
- Noun যদি জড়পদার্থ বা প্রাণহীন বুঝায় তবে তা Neuter Gender হয়।
- ইতর প্রাণীকে Neuter gender হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়।

• Other options:
ক) Masculine gender
- যে noun বা pronoun দ্বারা কোন প্রাণীর পুরুষ বাচক অবস্থাকে বোঝায় তাকে Masculine Gender বলে।
- যেমন: Man, boy, father, son, king, uncle, actor, nephew, husband, ইত্যাদি।

খ) Feminine gender
-  যে noun বা pronoun দ্বারা কোন প্রাণীর স্ত্রী বাচক অবস্থাকে বোঝায় তাকে Feminine Gender বলে।
- যেমন: Woman, girl, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, wife, niece, queen, princess, actress, waitress, heroine, bride, ইত্যাদি।

ঘ) Common gender
- যে Noun দ্বারা একই সাথে পুংবাচক বা স্ত্রীবাচক উভয়কেই বুঝায় তাকে Common Gender বলা হয়।
- যেমন: Parent, Child, Baby, Cousin, Student, Orphan, Monarch, Friend, etc.

"Use of Rules of when"
Past Tense Clause:
- যখন "when" দ্বারা যুক্ত একটি clause past tense এ থাকে, তখন সাধারণত অপর clause-টি (main clause) ও past tense এ হয়।
- Example: When I was young, I played football every day.
- উভয় clause সাধারণত past tense এ থাকে।
অথবা,

Past Continuous with Past Indefinite:
- When দ্বারা যুক্ত দুটি Clause এর একটি যদি past continuous হয় তবে অন্য clause টি past indefinite হবে।
- Example: When you called, I was in a meeting.
- "When" clause past continuous এ এবং main clause past indefinite এ থাকে।

• Information হলো Uncountable Noun.
- Uncountable Noun এর আগে a/an ব্যবহার করা যায় না এবং এর Plural form হয় না।
- নির্দিষ্ট তথ্য বোঝাতে the ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- Countable হিসেবে বোঝাতে “a piece of information” বলা যায়।

Bangla Meaning: কোনো বিষয় সম্পর্কে দেওয়া বা জানা তথ্য।

- "Mount Blanc" দ্বারা একটি মাত্র পাহাড়কে নির্দেশ করছে, তাই এর পূর্বে কোনো article বসবে না।

• Article এর নিয়মানুযায়ী,
- সাধারণত  নদী, সাগর, মহাসাগর, উপসাগর, পর্বতশ্রেণী, পর্বতমালা, দ্বীপপুঞ্জ ইত্যাদির নামের পূর্বে article হিসাবে the বসে।
 - যেমন: The Himalayas, The Padma, The Andes, The Andaman, The Nicobar, The Bay of Bengal, the Pacific Ocean, ইত্যাদি। 

• কিন্তু একটি মাত্র দ্বীপ ও পর্বত বা পর্বতশৃঙ্গ এর নামের পূর্বে article বসে না। 
- যেমন: Mount Everest/ Mount Kilimanjaro/ K2/ Mount Blanc/ Iceland/ Cyprus এগুলো একটি মাত্র দ্বীপ ও পর্বত বা পর্বতশৃঙ্গের নাম নির্দেশ করছে তাই এদের নামের পূর্বে article বসে না।

• The verb of the word ‘Public’ is- ঘ) Publicize.

• Public (adjective, noun)
- English Meaning: relating to or involving people in general, rather than being limited to a particular group of people.
- Bangla Meaning: জনসাধারণ বা সর্বসাধারণ সম্বন্ধীয়; সর্বজনীন; জনসাধারণ; লোকসাধারণ।

• Publicize (verb) - প্রচার করা, জনসমক্ষে আনা, প্রকাশ্যে ঘোষণা করা, বিজ্ঞাপন দেওয়া ইত্যাদি।

• অন্যদিকে,
ক) Publicity (noun) → প্রচার, প্রচারকার্য।
খ) Press (noun, verb) → (চাপ; চাপ দেওয়া, প্রেস করা), কিন্তু এটি public এর verb নয়।
গ) Publishable (adjective) → প্রকাশযোগ্য।

- সুতরাং, 'Public' শব্দের সঠিক verb হলো- Publicize.

since এর আগের অংশ Present হলে পরের অংশ Past Indefinite হয়,
আর since এর আগের অংশ Past Indefinite হলে পরের অংশ Past Perfect হয়।
এখানে আগের অংশ Past Indefinite থাকায় পরের অংশ Past Perfect হবে।

• Correct answer: Scenery attracts photographers from all over the world every year. 

• Scenery একটি uncountable noun তাই এর সাথে s/ es যোগ হবে না শুধু Scenery হবে।
- সাধারণত uncountable noun সর্বদাই Singular হবে কখনো plural হয় না।
- এদের পূর্বে সাধারণত Article বা সংখ্যাবাচক শব্দ বসেনা।

• Scenery (Noun):

- Bangla Meaning: কোনো এলাকার সাধারণ স্বাভাবিক বৈশিষ্ট্য, দৃশ্য, নৈসর্গিক শোভা।

• But (Adverb):
- English meaning: Only.
- Bangla meaning: শুধু; কেবল; মাত্র।
- এখানে but শব্দটি Only অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে এবং এটি Adverb.
- তাছাড়া, কোন কিছুর উপর জোড় প্রদানের জন্য but ব্যবহৃত হলে সেটা Adverb হয়।

• উল্লিখিত বাকি অপশনগুলো,

- But (Conjunction): কিন্তু; তবে।
- Used to indicate the impossibility of anything other than what is being stated.
- Used to introduce a response expressing a feeling such as surprise or anger.
- Used to introduce a phrase or clause contrasting with what has already been mentioned.
- এখানে But Conjuntion হিসেবে ব্যবহার হয়েছে।
- কারণ, 'but' Conjunction হিসেবে দুটি বাক্যাংশকে যুক্ত করেছে।

খ) None but the wise can solve such a problem.
- But (Preposition): ব্যতিরেকে, ছাড়া।
- এখানে But দ্বারা except = ব্যতীত বা 'other than' হিসাবে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। তাই But word টি Preposition হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।
- এখানে 'but' "the wise" ব্যতীত অন্য কেউকে বোঝাছে না, শুধুমাত্র the wise এর কাজ করাকে বুঝানো হয়েছে।

ঘ) But me no buts.
- এই Sentence টি একটি Imperative Sentence.
- Sentence টি Verb দিয়ে শুরু হয়েছে।
- তাই Sentence এর শুরুতে যে But ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে সেটি Sentence এ Verb হিসেবে বসেছে।
- প্রদত্ত Sentence এর শেষে আরও একটি But রয়েছে।
- যেটি No এরপর বসেছে।
- যা একটি Determiner বা Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।
- Determiner বা Adjective এর পর একটি মাত্র word থাকলে সেটি সর্বদা Noun হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
