Parts of Speech

• Complete sentence: The teacher recommended that the students read more books to improve their knowledge.
- Bangla meaning: শিক্ষক পরামর্শ দিলেন যে শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের জ্ঞান বাড়ানোর জন্য আরও বই পড়ুক।

• Present Subjunctive:
- চাওয়া বা ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করতে sub-ordinate clause হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- এ verb এর Base form ব্যবহারের রীতিই হলো Present Subjunctive.
- Structure: Subject + verb (any tense) + that + subject + verb এর base form + extension.
- সাধারণত advise, necessary, ask, command, recommend, demand, urge, propose, suggest, insist, prefer, request, require, ইত্যাদি verb গুলো ব্যবহৃত হলে এই নিয়ম প্রযোজ্য হবে।
- এক্ষেত্রে that যুক্ত subordinate clause এ সর্বদাই verb এর Base form হবে এবং Negative এর ক্ষেত্রে base form এর পূর্বে শুধু not বসবে।
- be verb থাকলে শুধু 'be' বসবে।

ঘ) The exam will be held of Tuesday. → “of” এখানে কোনো কাজ করে না; grammatically incorrect.

• Complete sentence: He seems to have tried his best for the test. 

• পূর্বে কোনো কিছু ঘটেছে এমন কিছু অনুমান করার ক্ষেত্রে see, seem, appear, happen, pretend, ইত্যাদি verb এর পরে সাধারণত perfect infinitive (to+have+ past participle) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- The structure “seems to + have + past participle” is used when the action appears to be completed already.
- অর্থাৎ, Seem to + have + past participle = অতীতের action সম্পর্কে বর্তমান অনুমান।

- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে বলা হয়েছে যে, "test" এর জন্য preparation সম্পূর্ণ/ইতিমধ্যে নিয়েছে।
- অর্থাৎ, (চেষ্টা করা) অতীতে ঘটেছে, বর্তমানে সেটা সম্পর্কে conclusion করা হচ্ছে।
- তাই, প্রদত্ত শূন্যস্থানে perfect infinitive হিসেবে to এর পরে have tried বসবে।

• নিয়মানুযায়ী, 
Incorrect sentence: She's happy with the way the police has handled the case.
Correct sentence: She's happy with the way the police have handled the case.

Correct answer: She is eager to see her family.
- Verb এর present form এর আগে to বসিয়ে Infinitive গঠন করা হয়। এ বাক্যে to+verb এর base form বসেছে।

Infinitive:
- Verb এর present form এর আগে to বসিয়ে Infinitive গঠন করা হয়।
- অর্থাৎ, Infinitive = to + verb.
- Infinitive দুই রকম হতে পারে,
- To-যুক্ত infinitive এবং,
- To-বিহীন infinitive বা Bare Infinitive.
- Infinitive form বিভিন্ন ভাবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে। যেমন: Subject of verb, Object of verb, Complement of verb, object of   preposition, etc.

Other Options:
ক) She has gone to the market.
- এখানে to হলো preposition (দিকে বোঝাচ্ছে), তাই infinitive নয়।

খ) He was looking forward to working with the new minister.
- এখানে phrase 'looking forward to" এর to এর পরে gerund (working) আছে, infinitive নয়।

Correct answer: But me no buts.
- এখানে প্রথম "But" টি একটি Verb যার অর্থ "কিন্তু কিন্তু করা বা আপত্তি করা।"
- তাই প্রথম "but" টি এখানে Verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- উল্লেখ্য দ্বিতীয় "buts" টি একটি Noun যার অর্থ অজুহাত বা আপত্তি।

Other options:
ক) You are but a child.
- এই বাক্যে "but" শব্দটি Adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। কারণ এখানে Only অর্থে 'but' adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। 

খ) We tried hard, but did not succeed.
- এই বাক্যে "but" শব্দটি একটি Conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। কারন, "but" দুটি বিপরীতধর্মী Clause বা বাক্যকে যুক্ত করেছে। 

গ) None but the brave deserves the fair.
- এই বাক্যে "but" "except" (ব্যতীত বা ছাড়া) অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। আবার যেহেতু এটি "Noun phrase" (the brave) এর পূর্বে বসেছে তাই এটি Preposition.

Up (adverb)
Example: if a computer, machine etc is up, it is working normally and not broken
- Is the network up now?

• Correct sentence: He got sacked from his last job.
- Bangla meaning: তাঁকে তাঁর শেষ চাকরি থেকে বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে।

• Sack (Verb):
- English meaning: To remove someone from a job, usually because they have done something wrong or badly, or sometimes as a way of saving the cost of employing them.
- Bangla meaning: খরচ বাঁচানোর জন্যে বা ভুল কাজ করার জন্যে কাউকে চাকরি থেকে বরখাস্ত করা।

• Sack এরপর preposition হিসেবে for এবং from ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- "for" ব্যবহার করা হয়, কারণ বোঝাতে অর্থে,
- আর, "from" ব্যবহার করা হয়, কাউকে চাকরি থেকে বরখাস্ত করা/ চাকরি থেকে বের করা বোঝাতে অর্থে।

Deal out (phrasal verb):
English Meaning - To share something among a group of people.
Bangla Meaning - (অনেকের মধ্যে) বণ্টন করা; বাঁটা; বিলি করা। 
Example Sentence - Could you deal out the money?

Complete Sentence - The profits were dealt out among the investors. 

এছাড়াও, 
Deal with (ক) মেলামেশা/সম্পর্ক রক্ষা করা: She is easy/impossible/difficult to deal with.
(খ) আচরণ/ব্যবহার করা: I don’t know how to deal with such precocious children.
(গ) (কাজ-কারবার সম্বন্ধে) ব্যবস্থা/বিহিত করা; Let’s deal with one problem at a time.

Be supposed to (do) = করার কথা, এ রকম অর্থে Modal Auxiliary এর মত ব্যবহৃত হয়।
If Clause- Present tense এ হওয়ায় এটা is supposed to হবে।

- Subject যখন নিজে কাজ না করে অন্যকে দিয়ে কাজ করিয়ে নেয় তখন এই অর্থে causative verb ব্যবহৃত হয়। 
- Help, Get, Have, Let, Make ইত্যাদি বহুল প্রচলিত causative verb.
- Make, have, get প্রভৃতি যোগে অনেক verb- কে causative verb এ পরিণত করা যায়।

• Causative verb হিসাবে help এর structure:
- Subject + help (any tense) + action doer + base form/ infinitive (to+base form) + ext.

Collective Noun:
- যে noun একজাতীয় ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু ইত্যাদির অবিভক্ত সমষ্টিকে বুঝায় তাকে collective noun বলে।

- Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি adjective এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ Verb ও adjective এর কাজ করে, তাহলে তাকে present participle বলে।
- সংক্ষেপে: present participle = Verb + ing = adjective = Verb + adjective.
- Participle দ্বারা চলমান sense বোঝায়। যেমন:
- I helped a drowning man
- A rolling Stone gathers no moss.
- She is swimming.
- I saw a flying bird.
- Do not get into the running train.

Correct answer: No sooner.....than.
- কিছু কিছু Conjunction আছে যারা সাধারণত জোড়ায় জোড়ায় বসে, এদেরকে সাধারণত Correlative Conjunction বলে। "No sooner" এবং "Than" word দুটি সব সময় বাক্যে জোড়া হিসেবে বসে। তাই এটি একটি correlative conjunction.

- অর্থাৎ, এই বর্ণগুলোর plural ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

- বাক্যটিতে "before he retired" অংশটি অতীতের একটি ঘটনা বোঝাচ্ছে।

• Common Noun

- Here, 'over' is used as a Preposition.

- Here, 'over' shows the position of the sign in relation to the door.
- “over the door” (দরজার উপরে) = tells where the sign is.
- অর্থাৎ, sign এর অবস্থান দরজার উপরে বুঝাতে noun phrase 'the door' এর পূর্বে 'over' preposition এর কাজ করছে।

- "Get to the centre" = কেন্দ্রে পৌঁছাতে হবে।
- অর্থাৎ, সাধারণভাবে 'কোথাও পৌঁছানো' অর্থে phrasal verb হিসেবে "get to" ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- "Get to" = পৌঁছানো (arrive at/reach), এটি সাধারণত Destination-এর সাথে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- যেমন: get to school, get to work, get to the party, get to the airport, etc.

আবার,
• "Get to" মানে to begin; to have an effect on: such as influence; bother ইত্যাদি।

- "Get to somebody" idiomatic ভাবেও ব্যবহৃত হয় যার মানে "to annoy or affect somebody".
- যেমন: His tone of voice really gets to me sometimes.

অন্যদিকে,
• Get at somebody/something - কারো/ কোনোকিছুর নাগাল পাওয়া।
- Example: He stretched his hands to get at the books on the uppermost shelf.

- আবার, কাউকে সমালোচনা করা (to keep criticizing somebody) অর্থে 'Get at somebody' ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: He's always getting at me.

• Coincide with: 
English Meaning - To happen at or near the same time. 
Bangla Meaning - অধিকৃত স্থান বা রূপরেখার দিক থেকে মিলে যাওয়া।

- If the heavy rain had coincided with an extremely high tide, serious flooding would have resulted.

-Bangla Meaning: কেউ চিনে ফেলতে পারে এই ভয়ে গুপ্তচর তার বেশ পরিবর্তন করল।

• In fear of যুক্ত বাক্যের গঠন:
- সাধারণত Active construction -এ Preposition এর পর Verb+ing ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- কিন্তু এই বাক্যটিতে passive construction প্রয়োজন, কারণ অন্য কারো দ্বারা 'recognized' হয়।
- Verb+ing এর Passive form হচ্ছে being + verb এরপর Past Participle.
- "In fear of being recognized" correctly uses the passive gerund (being + past participle).

- সুতরাং, শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে- being recognized.

অন্যদিকে,
ক) recognizing: (he recognizes others) এটি Active construction -এ বসে।

গ) having recognized: (he recognized someone) এটি Active construction -এ past action নির্দেশ করে।

ঘ) be recognized: এটি ভুল, কারণ preposition "of" এর পরে gerund প্রয়োজন।

• Causative Verb:
- Subject যখন নিযে কাজ না করে অন্যকে দিয়ে কাজ করায় তখন এই অর্থে Causative Verb ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে।
- Have, Get, Help, Let, Make ইত্যাদি প্রচলিত Causative Verb.
- Make, Have, Get ইত্যাদি যোগে verb কে Causative Verb এ পরিনত করা হয়।

• Causative Verb হিসেবে Make এর ব্যবহার:
- Make এরপর ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু যাই থাকুক না কেন এরপর verb এর Base form বস।
- কেউকে কোন কিছু করতে বাধ্য করা অথবা Have, Get এর চেয়ে বেশি জোর প্রদান করতে Make ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে।
