Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection

• Considering the weather, we decided to stay indoors. Here, "Considering" is a/ an - Preposition.

• Preposition:
- Preposition হলো এমন শব্দ যা  কোন noun, pronoun, বা noun phrase এর আগে বসে তার সাথে বাক্যস্থিত অন্য কোন শব্দের সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে।
- A preposition is a word placed or positioned before a noun or a pronoun or a noun equivalent to show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in a sentence.

• Considering হলো Participle Preposition.
- যা বাক্যে "the weather" নামক noun phrase এর সাথে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে।
- এখানে এটি আবহাওয়া নির্দেশ করছে। অর্থাৎ, এই বাক্যে "regarding" বোঝাচ্ছে যে, "আবহাওয়া বিবেচনা করে দেখার পর" আমরা ভেতরে থাকা ঠিক করেছি।

- "Considering the weather" (আবহাওয়া বিবেচনা করে দেখার পর) - এখানে "Considering" একটি preposition যা "the weather" এর সাথে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করছে।
- আর "we decided to stay indoors" (আমরা ভেতরে থাকা ঠিক করেছি) - এটি মূল বাক্য যেখানে "we" (আমরা) হলো subject এবং "decided" (ঠিক করা) হলো verb.

- এখানে 'সম্পর্কে ' অর্থে about শব্দটি কাজ করছে।
- তাই, 'Considering' শব্দটি about হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে। যার জন্য এটি preposition.

• Participle Preposition:
- Participle Preposition হচ্ছে এমন কিছু শব্দ, যেগুলো দেখতে participle (verb এর সাথে -ing বা -ed form থাকে) এর মতো হলেও, এগুলো বাক্যে preposition হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- এদের পরে সাধারণত noun, pronoun, বা noun phrase বসে।
- Example: Regarding, Considering, Concerning, Following, During, Including, ইত্যাদি।

• Grieve (Verb):
- English meaning: To feel very sad, especially because somebody has died.
- Bangla meaning: দুঃখ বা শোক করা।

• Grieve এরপর "at অথবা for" Preposition টি appropriately বসে।
- "grieve for" বিশেষত মানুষের জন্য বা কিছু হারানোর জন্য,
- আর "grieve at" বিশেষত কোনো ঘটনা বা ঘটনার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• তাই এখানে "Grieve for" ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।

• Correct Sentence: He grieved for the death of his beloved pet.

Complete Sentence: Although traffic in Cumilla is increasing, no one is doing anything about it.

- Though/although যদিও ,তথাপি, কিছু হওয়া সত্ত্বেও অর্থে Sentence এর দুইটি clause এর বিপরীমুখিতা বোঝাতে though বা although ব্যাবহৃত হয়। তবে এরা অবশ্যই clause এর পূর্বে বসে।

- এ বাক্যের প্রথম অংশ পরবর্তী অংশের বিপরীতধর্মী।
- তাই এখানে linker হিসেবে option গুলো থেকে although ই হলো সঠিক উত্তর।

Other options:
- Since: বাক্যে তখন থেকে / তারপর থেকে অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে since ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- Because: বাক্যে কারণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে clause এর পূর্বে Because ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- Which: এমন কোনও শব্দ বা বাক্যাংশের আগে যা পূর্ববর্তী clause এর reaction to or commentary দিতে introductory হিসেবে which linker হিসেবে ব্যাবহার করা হয়।

• Blessed:
- English Meaning: To have something that you feel is special or lucky.
- Bangla Meaning: সৌভাগ্যশালী।

• কোনো কিছু দ্বারা সৌভাগ্যশালী হওয়া বুঝাতে blessed এর সাথে with ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Blessed with সাধারণত যা ইচ্ছাকৃত অর্জন নয় বরং সৌভাগ্য বা ঈশ্বর প্রদত্ত বলে ধরা হয়।

• Correct answer: He is blessed with great intelligence.
 
• Example sentence: 
1. The country is blessed with natural beauty.
2. We are blessed with supportive friends.

‘He works hard that he may succeed.’
এখানে that দুইটি clause (he works hard এবং he may succeed) কে যংযুক্ত করেছে বিধায় এটি conjunction.

Complete sentence: We cannot process the order until we get a copy of the purchase order.
Bangla meaning: যতক্ষণ না পর্যন্ত ক্রয়াদেশ এর অনুলিপি আমরা হাতে পাই ততক্ষণ আমরা আদেশটি কার্যকর করতে পারব না।

Until: Until অর্থ যতক্ষণ না পর্যন্ত।
- এটি সব সময় Negative অর্থ প্রদান করে।
- এজন্য Until এর পরবর্তী Clause টি affirmative হয়।
- Example: Wait here until I return.

Other options:
খ) because:
- দুটি clause এর মাঝে কারণ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয় ।
- Example: He could not go to school because he was ill.

গ) since: 
- দুটি clause এর মাঝে বসে অতীতকাল হতে বর্তমান পর্যন্ত কোন কাজের সময় নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: Ten years have passed since my father went to USA.

ঘ) If: সাধারণত দুটি Clause বা দুটি Sentence কে সংযুক্ত করতে 'IF' ব্যবহৃত হয় । ভবিষ্যত  সম্ভাব্য অবস্থা এবং তার ফলাফল বোঝাতে if ব্যাবহার করা হয় ।
- Example: I will only stay if you offer me more money.

• Correct sentence: The political analyst expounded on the possible outcomes of the Bangladesh election.
- Bangla Meaning: রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষক বাংলাদেশের নির্বাচনের সম্ভাব্য ফলাফল নিয়ে বিশদভাবে আলোচনা করলেন।
 
• Expound on
English Meaning: To give a detailed explanation of something:
Bangla Meaning: ব্যাখ্যা করা; বিস্তারিত বর্ণনার সাহায্যে অর্থ পরিষ্কার করা।

- ব্যাখ্যা করা বুঝাতে - expounded এর পরে preposition হিসেবে on বসে। 

Example Sentence:
- The professor expounded on the principles of quantum mechanics during the lecture.

Strike someone down (phrasal verb): 
English Meaning - If someone is struck down, they die suddenly or start to suffer from a serious illness. 
Bangla Meaning - আক্রমণপূর্বক ধরাশায়ী করা।
Example Sentence - It's a tragedy that these young people were struck down in their prime.

Complete Sentence - Despite his age, he was struck down by the flu and spent weeks in bed.

Other options, 
Strike on /upon something - হঠাৎ মনে জাগা।
Strike something up - শুরু করা। 
Strike something off - কেটে ফেলা।

"since" ও "for" এর ব্যবহারের নিয়ম:
• Since-এর ব্যবহার:
- Structure: Subject + has/have + been + verb(+ing) + since + point of time.
- "Since" ব্যবহৃত হয় যখন কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের (point of time) শুরু থেকে কিছু চলছে, সেটি এখনো চলছে।
- Point of time মানে এমন সময় যা নির্দিষ্টভাবে বোঝানো যায়, যেমন:
- I have been living here since 2020.
- She has been sick since yesterday.

• For-এর ব্যবহার:
- Structure: Subject + has/have + been + verb(+ing) + for + period of time.
- "For" ব্যবহৃত হয় যখন কোনো কাজ কত সময় ধরে চলছে তা বোঝাতে হয়, অর্থাৎ সময়ের দৈর্ঘ্য/পরিমাণ (period of time) বোঝায়।
- Period of time যেমন:
- I have been reading for two hours.
- They have been living here for five years.

Sentence: "I have been living here ___ 2020."
এখানে 2020 একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময় (point of time), এবং বাক্যটি Present Perfect Continuous Tense-এ আছে ("have been living")।
তাই "since" এর ব্যবহারের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী বাক্যটি হবে: "I have been living here since 2020."  

অন্য preposition-এর ব্যবহার:
ক) For - সময়ের পরিমাণ (period of time) বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
গ) From - শুরু বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, কিন্তু Perfect Tense-এর সঙ্গে ব্যবহার হয় না।
ঘ) During - কোনো ঘটনার সময়ের মধ্যে কিছু ঘটে বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Mock at তামাশা বা ঠাট্টা করা/ উপহাস করা।
সুতরাং বাক্যের অর্থ অনুযায়ী এখানে Mock at হবে।

বাক্যটির অর্থ আমাদের সর্বদা উচিত আমাদের সিদ্ধান্তে অনড় থাকা, অন্যথায় জনগণ আমাদের নিয়ে উপহাস করবে।
অর্থ অনুযায়ী Mock এরপরে over, on, to এর বসবে না৷

• Concerning (preposition):
English Meaning - About something; involving someone or something.
Bangla Meaning - সম্পর্কে।
Example Sentences - He asked several questions concerning the future of the company.

Other options, 
• Concern - উদ্বেগ। 
Example - There is no cause for concern, he will come round soon.

• Concerned about/for - উদ্বিগ্ন হওয়া। 
Example - I am concerned about your safety.

Complete Sentence: All inquiries concerning product defects should be reported to the quality assurance team.
Meaning - পণ্যের ত্রুটি সম্পর্কিত সমস্ত অনুসন্ধানের তথ্য সম্পর্কে গুণমান নিশ্চিতকারী দলকে রিপোর্ট করা উচিত।

• Correct answer: খ) since.

Correct sentence: She has been living in Dhaka since 2018.
Bangla meaning: সে ২০১৮ সাল থেকে ঢাকায় বসবাস করছে।

- এখানে ২০১৮ একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময় (point of time).
- নির্দিষ্ট সময় থেকে কোনো কাজ শুরু হয়ে এখনো চলমান থাকলে since ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• for এবং since এর পার্থক্য:
- for: সময়ের পরিমাণ (দিন, মাস, বছর, সময়কাল) বোঝায়।
- যেমন: for three days, for two months

- since: নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝায়।
- যেমন: since Monday, since 2018

অন্য বিকল্পগুলো:
ক) for: সময়ের দৈর্ঘ্য বোঝায়, নির্দিষ্ট সময় নয়।
গ) about: অর্থ “প্রায়” বা “সম্পর্কে”।
ঘ) in: সাধারণত ভবিষ্যৎ সময় বা স্থান বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

আরও উদাহরণ:
- I have known him for five years.
- I have known him since 2020.

When: সময় বর্ণনা করতে subordinate clause এর শুরুতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
When: অতীতের চলমান কোন ঘটনার সময় বর্ণনা করতে subordinate clause এর শুরুতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Because ও since: কারণ বুঝানোর জন্য subordinate clause এর শুরুতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যে স্পষ্ট বুঝা যায় যে শূন্যস্থানের পরের অংশটি আগের অংশের সময় বর্ণনা করছে। আর সময় বর্ণনা করার জন্য when এবং while উভয়টিই বসতে পারে। কিন্তু while এর ক্ষেত্রে তার পরের verb এর tense হবে past continuous tense। সুতরাং উত্তর হবে b.

• Complete Sentence: She couldn't believe her manager would connive at such behavior.
- Bangla Meaning: সে বিশ্বাস করতে পারছিল না যে তার ম্যানেজার চুপচাপ অন্যায়কে প্রশ্রয় দেবেন।

• Connive at:
- English Meaning: To secretly allow something wrong or illegal to happen.
- Bangla Meaning: চুপচাপ অন্যায়কে প্রশ্রয় দেওয়া।

• "চুপচাপ অন্যায়কে প্রশ্রয় দেওয়া" বোঝাতে connive ক্রিয়ার পরে preposition হিসেবে সাধারণত 'at' বসে।

• Example Sentences:
- The authorities were accused of conniving at corruption in high places.
- The manager connived at the workers’ misconduct by refusing to report them.

At
- Transportation বা যানবাহন এর ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয় না।   
- অধিকাংশ সময় specific location or time বুঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। 

On
- বড় বড় যানবাহন এর ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- যেমন: We parked our car on the ferryboat.

In
- to describe small vehicles. i.e: car/taxi etc. 

By
- When we talk about general ways to travel, we always use the preposition ‘by’.
For example – We travel by car, by train, by bus, by plane, and so on.
- We can also use the preposition ‘by’ to refer to the transportation environment or the surface, for example, by air, by land, by sea, by rail.

সুতরাং, প্রদত্ত প্রশ্নের সঠিক উত্তর হবে: by 

• Complete sentence: She has been working at this company since March.

• Since এর ব্যবহার:
- Point of time এর পূর্বে since বসে।
- Point of time হচ্ছে সেই সময়কাল যাকে এক, দুই, তিন ইত্যাদি গণনার একক দ্বারা গণনা করা যায় না বরং কোনো মুহূর্ত বা সময়কে নির্দেশ করে।
- যেমন: গত সোমবার, গত সপ্তাহ/মাস/বছর, দুইটা, সাড়ে তিনটা ইত্যাদি।

• More Examples:
- It has been raining since morning.
- He has been studying since morning.

আবার,
• For এর ব্যবহার:
- Period of time এর পূর্বে for বসে।
- Period of time হচ্ছে সেই সময়কাল যাকে সময় গণনার একক (সেকেন্ড, মিনিট, ঘন্টা, সপ্তাহ, মাস, বছর ইত্যাদি) দ্বারা গণনা করা হয়।
- যেমন: এক সেকেন্ড, এক মিনিট, এক ঘন্টা, এক সপ্তাহ, এক মাস, এক বছর, দুই বছর, ইত্যাদি।
- Examples:
- We have been reading in this school for four years.
- He said nothing for a long time.
- Rima has been working here for eight months.

- সঠিক উত্তর হবে, On

Preposition: 
- A preposition is a word which is used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to express its relationship with some other word in the sentence. 
- অর্থাৎ হল এমন শব্দ যা কোন বা এর আগে বসে তার সাথে বাক্যস্থিত অন্য কোন শব্দের সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে। 

বহুল ব্যবহৃত কয়েকটি preposition হল: 
at, on, of, off, after, from , upon, behind, along, before , between, beside, about, beyond ইত্যাদি।  

এবার চলুন দেখে নেই, Preposition   'On'  এর কয়েকটি ব্যবহার:

On condition: 
'On condition' is used to establish something that must be done in order for something else to happen. 'On condition' can be used in place of 'if'. For example:

- We'll send our daughter to Europe this summer on condition that she gets good grades this semester.
- On condition that you finish this assignment, I will let you stay out late on Saturday.

On for places:
'On' is used flat surfaces both big and small. Example: 

- We played football on the field.
- The book is on the table over there.

'On' is used with planets. The most common usage is 'on earth', but other planets take 'on' as well. Example: 

You will find a wide variety of life on earth.
So far, life has not been discovered on Saturn.

On Time vs In Time
'On time' means that you have arrived somewhere at the agreed upon time. 'In time' indicates that you have done something within the appropriate amount of time.

I arrived at the meeting on time. vs. I finished the report in time for the meeting.
She picked us up at the airport on time. vs. Janice gave her recommendations in time for us to make an informed decision.

উপরোক্ত তিনটি ক্ষেত্র ছাড়াও On এর আরো নানাবিধ ব্যবহার আছে। যেকোন গ্রামার বই ভালো ভাবে অনুশীলন করলে এ সংক্রান্ত বিষয়ে আরো জানা যাবে।

কতগুলো word আছে যাদের পর from বসে।
- Escape from (পরিত্রান পাওয়া)
- Remote from (দূরবর্তী)
- Refrain from (বিরত থাকা)
- Absent from (অনুপস্থিত)
- Abstain from (বিরত থাকা)
- Different from (বিভিন্ন)
- Cease from (বিরত থাকা)
- Desist from (বিরত থাকা)
- Prevent from (প্রতিরোধ করা) ইত্যাদি।

যদি দুটো subject Either ... or, Neither .... nor, Not only ..... but also দ্বারা যুক্ত থাকে, তাহলে শেষের subject অনুসারে verb বসে।
Subject দুটোর মধ্যে একটি Singular ও অন্যটি Plural হলে সাধারণত Singular টি আগে এবং plural টি পরে বসে।

Correct answer: to.
Complete sentence: She is alive to the needs of her students.
- সে তার ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের প্রয়োজনের প্রতি সচেতন।
- এখানে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের প্রয়োজনের প্রতি সচেতন বা অবগত অর্থে Appropriate Preposition হিসেবে Alive এর সাথে "to" বসে।

• Alive to
- English meaning: aware of (something) : able to notice (something).
- Bangla meaning: জীবিত, জীবন্ত, জিন্দা, প্রাণবন্ত বা সজ্ঞান।

• উল্লেখ্য Alive এর সাথে সচেতন বা অবগত অর্থে Appropriate Preposition হিসেবে of/ with/ on এর কোন ব্যবহার নেই।

• Complete sentence: The writer was popular with young readers.
- Bangla meaning: লেখক তরুণ পাঠকদের কাছে জনপ্রিয় ছিলেন।

• Popular with/among somebody
- English Meaning: liked or enjoyed by a large number of people.
- Bangla Meaning: জনপ্রিয়/লোকপ্রিয়; লোকগ্রাহ্য; সর্বলোকগ্রাহ্য।

- সাধারণত যে কেউ একটি নির্দিষ্ট গোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে জনপ্রিয় বোঝাতে "popular with/among" ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• অতিরিক্ত খেয়ে বা না খেয়ে মারা যাওয়া অর্থে Die from বসে।
Example:
1. He died from overeating.
2. Those birds died from lack of food.

Other Options:
• Die For
- ভাল কাজের জন্য বা দেশের জন্য মারা যাওয়া অর্থে Die For ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: He died for his country in 1971.

• Die By
- দূর্ঘটনায়  মারা যাওয়া অর্থে Die By বসে।
- Example: He died by an accident.

• Die Of
- রোগে; অনাহার বা দুঃখে মারা যাওয়া অর্থে Die of ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: He died of illness.
