- এখানে sitting → man noun কে describe করছে → অর্থাৎ “window-এর কাছে বসে থাকা মানুষ”।

• A participle is a verb that ends in -ing (present participle) or -ed, -d, -t, -en, -n (past participle). Participles may function as adjectives, describing or modifying nouns.
- Participle একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ করে।

• Participle মূলত: তিন প্রকার:

ব্যাখ্যা:
বাক্যের অর্থ: গাড়িটি ঘণ্টায় ৮০ কিলোমিটার বেগে চলে। এখানে প্রতি ঘণ্টা অর্থাৎ এক ঘণ্টা বুঝানো হয়েছে। তাই a/an বসাতে হবে।

- Present Participle Phrase (Verb + ing)-কে Independent Clause-এ রূপান্তর করতে হবে।
- দুটি Independent Clause যুক্ত করতে and বা so ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Factitive object- অতিরিক্ত word টিকে factitive object বলা হয়। এটি কখনো passive voice এর ‍subj. হয় না। মনে রাখতে হবে বাকি গঠনগুলো কিন্তু অন্যান্য transitive verb এর মতোই।
কতিপয় factitive verb:
Call, choose, elect, make, name, nominate, select
উপরের উদাহরণে joint secretary হলো factitive object.
