• Stop (verb):
- Stop -এর পরে gerund (-ing form) এবং infinitive (to + verb) দুটিই বসতে পারে।

• Stop + gerund:
- to finish doing something that you do regularly or as a habit.
- অর্থাৎ, কোনো কাজ পুরোপুরি বন্ধ করা অর্থে Stop -এর পরে gerund (verb এর-ing form) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: I stopped seeing him last year.
- এখানে, "last year (past event)" phrase টি স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ করার (তার সাথে দেখা করার অভ্যাস শেষ করার) ইঙ্গিত দেয়, তাই এখানে gerund বসবে।

• Stop + infinitive:

- অর্থাৎ, ভ্রমণের সময় বা কোনও কার্যকলাপের সময় অল্প সময়ের জন্য বিরতি নেওয়া অর্থে Stop -এর পরে infinitive (to + verb) ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- আবার, Stop -এর পরে Bare infinitive "see" এবং past form "saw" ব্যবহৃত হয় না।

• Little, A little, Few, A few এর ব্যবহার:
- এগুলো হচ্ছে Quantifier Determiners. যার দ্বারা কিছু পরিমাণ, সংখ্যাকে বুঝায়।
- Little এবং A little বসে Uncountable Noun এর ক্ষেত্রে,
- Few এবং A few বসে Countable Noun এর ক্ষেত্রে।

Linking Verb / Copulative Verb:
Linking verb হলো সেই verb যা subject এবং তার subjective complement-এর মধ্যে যোগসূত্র স্থাপন করে। এটি কোনো কাজ (action) প্রকাশ করে না, বরং subject-এর অবস্থা, গুণ, পরিচয় বা বৈশিষ্ট্য প্রকাশ করে।
সহজ কথায়, Linking Verb  বা Copulative Verb হল এমন ক্রিয়া (Verb) যা বাক্যের কর্তা (Subject)-এর সাথে কর্তার গুণ, অবস্থা বা পরিচয় (Subjective Complement)-এর মধ্যে সংযোগ তৈরি করে। এটি কোন কাজ (Action) প্রকাশ করে না, বরং শুধু সম্পর্ক বা অবস্থা দেখায়।

Linking verb-এর বৈশিষ্ট্য:
- Subject এবং subjective complement-এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে।
- সাধারণত complement হিসেবে adjective বা noun বসে।
- Linking verb actionless — অর্থাৎ কোনো কাজ করে না, শুধু subject-এর অবস্থা বা পরিচয় বোঝায়।
- Adverb linking verb-এর আগে বসতে পারে, তবে তা verb-কে modify করে, subject-কে নয়।

সাধারণ Linking verb:
- be, become, look, seem, remain, appear, get, grow ইত্যাদি।

Options:
ক) The child feels happy. → এখানে feels subject (The child) এবং complement (happy)-কে যুক্ত করেছে। এটি actionless, তাই linking verb।
খ) The child feels the pain. → এখানে feels একটি transitive verb, কারণ এটি object (the pain) গ্রহণ করছে।
গ) The child kicked the ball. → এখানে kicked একটি transitive verb, object আছে (the ball)।
ঘ) The child laughed loudly. → এখানে laughed একটি intransitive verb, কোনো object নেই, শুধু adverb (loudly) দ্বারা modify হয়েছে।

• 'Since' preposition টি point of time অর্থাৎ কোনো কাজ শুরুর নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়‌।

• অন্যদিকে 'For' preposition টি period of time অর্থাৎ অনির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Since → কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময় থেকে শুরু হয়ে বর্তমান পর্যন্ত চলমান কাজ বা ঘটনা বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়।
For → কোনো সময়কাল বোঝাতে (যেমন: 2 years, 5 months)
বাক্য:
He has been working here … last June.

“last June” হলো নির্দিষ্ট সময় → তাই since ব্যবহার হবে।

এখানে a nice bird – noun phrase কে modify করার কারণে what – adjective হয়েছে।
সাধারণত what – Noun/Noun Phrase কে Modify করে। যেমন- What time is it? What depth is the well? What a nice bird it is! etc.
আর how – Adjective/ Adverb কে Modify করে। যেমন- How nice the bird is! How nice a bird it is! How deep is the well? How far is Dhaka away from Sylhet? etc.

যে সকল Noun দ্বারা সমজাতীয় কিছু ব্যক্তি, বস্তুর সমষ্টিকে বোঝায় তাদেরকে Collective Noun বলে।
অর্থাৎ কিছু Common Noun এর সমষ্টিকেই collective noun বলে।
যেমন - Family, Committee, Army, Council, Audience, Department, Minority, Crowd, Senate, Society, Group, Team, Cattle, Pack, Company, Jury, Corporation, Majority, Police, Gang, Navy, Library, Class, Public, Infantry, Orchestra ইত্যাদি।

obstacle:
Meaning: বাধা; প্রতিবন্ধক।

• "obstacle" পরে সবসময় "to" preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Structure: obstacle + to + something.

• Appropriate preposition এর ক্ষেত্রে,
- 'বাধা/ প্রতিবন্ধক' অর্থে obstacle এর সাথে to বসে।
- তাই শূন্যস্থানে to বসালে বাক্যটি পরিপূর্ণ হয়।

Complete sentence: Poverty is an obstacle to peace.

He rowed us over to the other side of the lake. Here, 'over' is - adverb.
- এখানে ‘over’ শব্দটি rowed verb কে modify করছে, অর্থাৎ কোথায় বা কীভাবে তারা পৌঁছালো তা নির্দেশ করছে।
- এখানে over = adverb, যা verb -র দিক বা স্থান বোঝাচ্ছে।

অন্যদিকে,
• Present participle:
- Verb -এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি adjective -এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ, একই সাথে Verb ও adjective -এর কাজ করে, তাহলে তাকে present participle বলে।
- সহজ ভাষায় → present participle হলো Verb + ing = adjective = Verb + adjective কাজ করে।
- Present participle দ্বারা চলমান sense বোঝায়।
- যেমন: A rolling Stone gathers no moss.

• Infinitive:
- Infinitive হচ্ছে verb এর base form অথবা to + base form.
- যেমন: teach, to teach.

• Infintive দুই রকম হতে পারে। যেমন:
- To -যুক্ত infinitive এবং
- To -বিহীন infinitive বা Bare Infinitive.

• Verbal Noun:
- কোন বাক্যের Verb + ing - এর পূর্বে the এবং পরে of থাকলে তাকে Verbal Noun বলে।
- The + verb+ing + of = verbal noun.
- যেমন: The writing of a good letter is difficult.

- সাধারণত Comparative degree এর পরে than বসলেও senior, junior, inferior, superior, prior, ulterior, posterior ইত্যাদি Latin Compative গুলোর পরে to বসে (than নয়)।
