Parts of Speech

শূণ্যস্থানে একটা relative pronoun লাগবে। কিন্তু অপশন ''ক'' এবং ''গ'' তে কোন relative pronoun নেই।
আর ''who all'' ব্যাকরণের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী সঠিক নয়।
সকল নিয়ম মেনে ''all of whom'' relative pronoun হিসেবে শূণ্যস্থানে বসবে।

• 'Ought to' - হচ্ছে একটি 'semi-modals'.

• Semi-modal verb:
- Need,
- Dare.
- Dare, need, ought to এবং used to - এগুলোকে অনেক সময় semi-modal verb বলা হয়, কারণ এগুলো একদিকে modal verb-এর মতো গঠিত হয়, আবার অন্যদিকে সাধারণ main verb-এর মতোও ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- Modal verb-এর মতো, ought to এবং used to - person অনুযায়ী রূপ পরিবর্তন করে না।

• কয়েকটি Modal verb:
- Can,
- Could,
- Will,
- Would,
- Must,
- Should.

• Number:
- কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীর সংখ্যাকে Number বলে।
- Number দুই প্রকার। যথা:
01. Singular Number
02. Plural Number

• কিছু শব্দ আছে যেগুলো সব সময় Singular হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন:

• আবার কিছু কিছু শব্দ আছে যা সব সময় Plural হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন:

• Cater for  
English Meaning: to provide or serve.  
Bangla Meaning: সেবা দেওয়া, পরিচালনা করা।  

- "সেবা দেওয়া বা পরিচালনা করা" বোঝাতে cater এর পরে সাধারণত 'for' preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়।  

Example Sentence:
1. This restaurant caters for vegetarian customers.  
2. The event caters for people of all ages.

Correct Answer: খ) between.
 
Complete Sentence: The teacher divided the chocolates between the two boys.
বাংলা অনুবাদ: শিক্ষক দুই ছেলের মধ্যে চকলেটগুলো ভাগ করে দিলেন।

- সাধারণত দুইটি ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে → between ব্যবহার হয়।
- দুইয়ের অধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে → among ব্যবহার হয়।
- এখানে two boys → অর্থাৎ দুইজন ব্যক্তি, তাই between হবে।

Example: The agreement was signed between the two countries.
 
Other options:
ক) among → দুইয়ের অধিক হলে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: The gifts were distributed among the students.

গ) into → ভিতরে প্রবেশ করা বা ভাগ করে আলাদা করা বোঝায়।
Example: She cut the cake into four pieces.

ঘ) with → সঙ্গে/দিয়ে বোঝায়।

Conform to: 
English Meaning: Comply with rules, standards, or laws.
Bangla Meaning:  অনুরূপ হওয়া; (প্রতিষ্ঠিত রীতি বা আচার) মেনে চলা। 
- কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠিত রীতি বা আচার মেনে চলা বোঝাতে Conform এরপর preposition হিসাবে to বসে।

Example Sentence - You are to conform to the rules of the organization.
Bangla Meaning - আপনাকে প্রতিষ্ঠানের নিয়ম মেনে চলতে হবে।

Complete Sentence - All students are expected to conform to the dress code during school hours.

• The masculine gender of ''Mare'' is- Stallion.

• Mare: [feminine gender]
- English Meaning: an adult female horse.
- Bangla Meaning: ঘোটকী; মাদি ঘোড়া।

- এর Masculine gender হলো: Stallion ((সাধারণত প্রজননার্থে রক্ষিত) খোজা করা হয়নি এমন ঘোড়া।).

অন্যদিকে,
• Bear (common) - শরীরে ঘন পুরু কেশযুক্ত (ফার) এক রকম বিশাল জন্তু; ভল্লুক।

• Hind (feminine) - মাদি (বিশেষত লাল) হরিণ; হরিণী; মৃগী; কুরঙ্গী।
- এর Masculine gender হচ্ছে-  Stag (হরিণ)।

• Mermaid (feminine) - মৎসকুমারী।
- এর masculine gender হচ্ছে- Merman (মৎসকুমার)।

• Umm শব্দটি hesitation প্রকাশ করে।
- Umm শব্দটা English Speaking এবং  informal writing এ এই শব্দগুলো সুপরচিত এবং নির্দিষ্ট অর্থ প্রদান করে থাকে।
- এখানে  Umm শব্দটি দ্বারা সংশয় বা দ্বিধাকে বোঝানো হচ্ছে।
- অর্থাৎ বক্তা তার বক্তব্যকে গুছিয়ে বলতে পারছেনা বা বলতে চাইছে না এমন ক্ষেত্রে এগুলো ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• Interjection:
-Interjection is a big name for a little word. Interjections are short exclamations like Oh!, Um or Ah! They have no real grammatical value but we use them quite often, usually more in speaking than in writing.

In grammar, the infinitive form of a verb without the word “to” is called ‘Bare infinitive’ or the base form of the verb.
In the sentence, “I let him go” the bare infinitive is the word ‘go’.

• Gerund:
- Gerund হল এমন একটি শব্দ যা verb + ing যুক্ত হয়ে Noun এর মতো কাজ করে।
- সহজ ভাষায়, Gerund = Verb + ing = Noun = Verb + Noun.

• Gerund এর ব্যবহার:
- Subject হিসেবে বসে।
- Object হিসেবে বসে।
- Preposition এর Object হিসেবে বসে।
- Verb এর Complement হিসেবে বসে।

• Preposition + possessive/ objective of noun or pronoun -এর পরে Gerund বসে।
- প্রদত্ত Sentence টিতে 'Come' (Verb) এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয়ে Preposition (of) + objective of noun (him) এর পরে gerund হিসেবে বসেছে।
- তাই, coming এখানে gerund.

• Correct Answer: She is afraid of him coming late. Here, the underlined word is a/ an - Gerund.

• উল্লিখিত বাকি অপশনগুলো,
• Participle:
- A participle is a verb that ends in -ing (present participle) or -ed, -d, -t, -en, -n (past participle).
- Participle may function as Adjectives, describing or modifying Nouns.
- Participle একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ করে।

- Example sentence: 
- We saw a burning house. ("burning" describes "house").

• Infinitive:
- Verb এর present form এর আগে to বসিয়ে Infinitive গঠন করা হয়।
- অর্থাৎ, Infinitive = to + verb.

- Example sentence:
- The mayor promised to rebuild the damaged areas.

• Conjunction:
- যে Part of speech দুই বা ততোধিক Word, Phrase বা Clause এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে, তাকে Conjunction বলে।
- A conjunction is a part of speech that connects two or more words, phrases, clauses, or sentences.

যে সকল Noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্ট কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থানের নাম না বুঝিয়ে একজাতীয় সকলকেই বোঝায় তাদেরকে Common Noun বলে।
সংখ্যায় একের অধিক বলে এদেরকে গণনা করা যায়।
যেমন- man, boy, girl, teacher, student, city, king, country, river ইত্যাদি।

I was present there at that time.
বাক্যটিতে স্থান বোঝানো হয়েছে বিধায় এইখানে 'AT' ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।

He jumped up from his chair. Here, 'up' is - adverb.
- এখানে up শব্দটি jumped (verb)-কে modify করছে। অর্থাৎ লাফ দেওয়ার দিক বোঝাচ্ছে, উপরের দিকে লাফ দিয়েছে।
- যখন up কোনো verb-এর সাথে বসে অবস্থান, দিক বা পরিমাণ বোঝায় → adverb হয়।

up: [adverb]
English meaning: towards or in a higher position.
Bangla meaning: উচ্চতর স্থানে, অবস্থানে, মাত্রায় ইত্যাদি; উপরে; ঊর্ধ্বে।

Example:
- Two men were up on the roof, repairing a leak.
- I pinned the notice up on the wall.
- They live up in the mountains.

• দুই বা ততোধিক Adjective যদি Hypen (-) দ্বারা যুক্ত হয় সেক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত Noun কখনো Plural হয় না। সর্বদাই Singular হয়।
- যখন দুই বা ততোধিক শব্দ মিলে একটি যৌগিক বিশেষণ (Compound Adjective) তৈরি করে এবং সেটি একটি Noun-এর আগে বসে তাকে modify করে, তখন সেই যৌগিক বিশেষণটি সর্বদাই Singular থাকে।
- তবে এর পরের Noun-টি Singular বা Plural হতে পারে।
- কিন্তু Compound অংশটি Plural হয় না।
- I took part in a three-hour examination.
- They are long-distance lorry drivers.

• Compound adjective টি যখন Noun-এর পরে বসে এবং আলাদাভাবে কাজ করে,
- তখন Hyphen উঠে যায় এবং Nounটি বহুবচন হতে পারে।

Meaning: going to or intended for a particular place.

Example:

- এই sentence-টি বলছে যে "Tajmahal" built বা নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল বিশ হাজার শ্রমিক/কর্মচারী দ্বারা।
- এখানে passive voice-এ past action বোঝাতে হবে, কারণ কাজটা সম্পন্ন হয়ে গেছে। Passive construction-এর জন্য 'have been' ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Other options,
ক) have
- এখানে "Tajmahal" built বা নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল। এটি নিজে থেকে নির্মান হতে পারে না। Passive Voice হওয়ায় এটি সঠিক নয়।

খ) Had
- এখানে "Tajmahal" built বা নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল। এটি নিজে থেকে নির্মান হতে পারে না। Passive Voice হওয়ায় এটি সঠিক নয়।

ঘ) have had: 
- এটি grammatical structure অনুযায়ী ভুল, "have had begun" phraseটি সাধারণত ব্যবহার হয় না।

- এখানে 'The watch' একটি বস্তু। বস্তুবাচক Antecedent এর পরে Relative Pronoun হিসেবে "that" বসে।

- Relative Pronoun এর ব্যবহার:
- বস্তুবাচক পদার্থের ক্ষেত্রে সাধারণত Pronoun that/what বসে।
- বস্তু সম্পর্কে জানা থাকলে that, আর জানা না থাকলে what বসবে।
- অর্থাৎ যখন বাক্যে বস্তুটি (Antecedent) উল্লেখ করা থাকে, তখন আমরা That ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- I have lost the watch that you gave me.
- যখন বাক্যে কোনো নির্দিষ্ট বস্তুর নাম (Antecedent) উল্লেখ থাকে না, তখন What বসে।

• এখানে whose, whom Personal pronoun যা দ্বারা কেবল ব্যক্তিকে signify করে।
- অর্থাৎ শুধুমাত্র ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Consistent with something - in agreement with something; not contradicting something; সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ।
Example:
- Your action is not consistent with the rules.
- The results are entirely consistent with our earlier research.
- These findings are consistent with other studies.

• She ran home as fast as she could. Here, "home" is a/ an - Adverb.

• Adverb: 
- যেসব word noun বা pronoun ছাড়া অন্য যেকোন parts of speech, বিশেষ করে verb কে modify করে সেগুলোকে adverb বলে।
- Adverb এমন একটি part of speech যা একটি verb, adjective, অন্য আর একটি adverb অথবা পুরো একটি বাক্যকে মডিফাই করতে পারে।

• এখানে home একটি adverb যা verb "ran" কে modify করেছে।
- Home শব্দটি এখানে adverb of place.
- where, why, how, when ইত্যাদি শব্দগুলো দিয়ে Verb কে প্রশ্ন করে পাওয়া উত্তরই হল adverb.
- Home শব্দটির মাধ্যমে আমরা Where এর উত্তর পাচ্ছি এবং জানতে পারছি কোথায় যাওয়ার জন্য দৌড়ানো হলো (ran) তা বলা হচ্ছে।
- Home, abroad, here, there, nowhere বাক্যকে adverb of place কে নির্দেশ করে এবং where প্রশ্নের উত্তর প্রদান করে।

• অর্থাৎ 'Home' যদি কোনো জায়গা বা বসবাসের স্থান বোঝায়, তাহলে এটি noun (যেমন: "My home is near the park")।
- কিন্তু যখন 'home' ক্রিয়ার সঙ্গে গন্তব্য বা দিক বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন এটি adverb হয়।

সঠিক উত্তর: খ) went.
Complete sentence: I would rather you went now. 

এখানে “I” আর “you” — দুইটা আলাদা subject, তাই would rather you এর পরে past simple (went) ব্যবহার হবে।

• আমরা would rather বা ’d rather ব্যবহার করি একটা জিনিসকে অন্য জিনিসের চেয়ে বেশি পছন্দ করা বা প্রেফার করার কথা বলতে। Would rather-এর দুইটা আলাদা আলাদা গঠন (constructions) রয়েছে।

• যখন subject একই (same subject):

• Would rather + base form of verb (infinitive without ‘to’)
- অর্থাৎ নিজের পছন্দ নিজের কাজের জন্য।

Example:
- I’d rather stay at home than go out. (আমি বরং বাড়িতে থাকতে চাই বাইরে যাওয়ার চেয়ে।)
- She’d rather not eat sweets. (সে বরং মিষ্টি খেতে চায় না।)

• যখন subject আলাদা (different subject):

• Would rather + subject + past simple tense
এটা ব্যবহার হয় যখন আমরা অন্য কাউকে কিছু করতে বলি বা চাই (অর্থাৎ অন্যের কাজের জন্য পছন্দ প্রকাশ)।

Example:
- I’d rather you stayed at home tonight. (আমি চাই তুমি আজ রাতে বরং বাড়িতে থাকো।)
- I’d rather he didn’t come late. (আমি চাই সে দেরি করে না আসুক।)

Much rather:
- আমরা would rather এর সাথে much যোগ করে পছন্দকে আরও জোরালো/শক্তিশালী করে প্রকাশ করতে পারি। কথা বলার সময় আমরা much-এর উপর জোর দিই।

Example:
- I’d much rather make a phone call than send an email. 
- She’d much rather they didn’t know about what had happened.

অন্য অপশনগুলো ভুল:

ক) go → base form → শুধু নিজের জন্য ব্যবহার হয় (I would rather go)। এখানে subject আলাদা বলে ভুল।

গ) have gone → Present Perfect → would rather-এর সাথে এটা ব্যবহার হয় না।

ঘ) had go → ভুল ফর্ম। (had gone হলেও Past Perfect — would rather-এর সাথে Past Perfect ব্যবহার হয় না।)
