Conjunction and Interjection

• As if/as though (conjunction) এর ব্যবহার: 
- as if/as though এর পূর্বে present indefinite tense থাকলে as if/as though এর পরে past indefinite হয়।
- be verb থাকলে সবসময় were হয়।

Example: He speaks as if he were mad.

• আবার, as if/as though এর পূর্বে Past indefinite tense থাকলে as if/as though এর পরে past perfect হয়।
Example: He spoke as though he had been mad.

তাই, Complete Sentence - He spoke as though he had known all the answers.

Correct answer: গ) It was still painful, so I went to see a doctor.

Conjunction হলো এমন শব্দ যা দুটি clause বা বাক্যকে যুক্ত করে।
এখানে “so” দুটি clause “It was still painful” এবং “I went to see a doctor” কে যুক্ত করছে।

English meaning: used to show the reason for something.
Bangla meaning: সুতরাং; অতএব; সে-কারণে; সেই জন্য। 

Example:

Other options:
ক) But: দুটি বিপরীত বিষয়কে যুক্ত করতে but বসাতে হয় ।
Example: He failed the test many times but he did not stop trying.

গ) Because: দুটি clause এর মাঝে কারণ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয় ।
Example: We could not go out because it was raining.

ঘ) Since: দুটি clause এর মাঝে বসে অতীতকাল হতে বর্তমান পর্যন্ত কোন কাজের সময় নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Why (Interjection)
- Bangla Meaning: বিস্ময়সূচক। 
- English Meaning: used to express mild surprise, hesitation, approval, disapproval, or impatience.

- তাছাড়া, why, শব্দটি noun, adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- “Why! I never expected to see you here.”
- কেন! আমি কখনো আশা করিনি তোমাকে এখানে দেখতে পাবো।

- এখানে “Why!” বিস্ময় বা হতবাক অবস্থা প্রকাশ করছে। তাই এটি বিস্ময়সূচক শব্দ (interjection) হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

- Here, 'but' is a conjunction.

• But (conjunction): 
- দুটি phrase/clause কে যুক্ত করতে বিভিন্ন অর্থে (if not: unless; that; yet ইত্যাদি অর্থে) But - conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।

- যেমন: We tried hard but could not succeed.
- এখানে 'We tried hard' এবং 'could not succeed' দুটি clause -এর মধ্যে contrast দেখাতে "কিন্তু; তবে" অর্থে But - conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

অন্যদিকে,
ক) He is but a child.
- এখানে 'but' শুধু; কেবল; মাত্র (only) অর্থে adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হহয়েছে।

• But (adverb)
- English meaning: only; no more than.
- Bangla meaning: শুধু; কেবল; মাত্র।

খ) None but the brave deserve the fair.
- এখানে, 'but' ছাড়া "except" অর্থে noun phrase 'the brave' -এর পূর্বে preposition হিসেবে বসেছে।

• But (preposition):
- ছাড়া (except; apart from; other than) অর্থে But হলো preposition.

ঘ) We were never anything but poor.
- এখানেও, 'but' ছাড়া "except" অর্থে noun 'poor' -এর পূর্বে preposition হিসেবে বসেছে।

• Use of Unless:
- Unless (except if) শব্দটি 'যদি না' অর্থে শর্ত বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- এটি নিজেই negative অর্থ প্রদান করে।
- এজন্যে unless দ্বারা যে clause শুরু হয় তাতে no বা not বসে না।

- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে একটি শর্তের কথা বলা হয়েছে তাই শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক conjunction হিসেবে 'unless' বসবে।

অন্যদিকে,
ক) Until (Conjunction)
- যে পর্যন্ত না; যতক্ষণে না; না… পর্যন্ত (সময়ের ধারাবাহিকতা বোঝায়)।
- 'until' negative অর্থ প্রদান করে, তাই এর পরে no/not/never ইত্যাদি বসে না।
- 'until' যুক্ত clause টি সাধারণত বাক্যের শুরুতে বসে না।
- যেমন: We played until it got dark.

গ) Although (Conjunction)
- দুটি clause -এর মধ্যে বিপরীতমুখীতা বুঝাতে ''যদিও; যদ্যপি; সত্ত্বেও'' অর্থে clause -এর পরে Although বসে।
- যেমন: Although she was ill, she went to college.

ঘ) Since (Conjunction)
- "যেহেতু" বা "তারপর থেকে" অর্থে Since ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- যেমন: He has held two jobs since he graduated.
