Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection

The movie was long, yet everyone enjoyed it.
Here yet is - a -Conjunction.

- yet, এখানে 'তবুও' অর্থ প্রকাশ করেছে এবং দুইটি বাক্যের মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করেছে।
- Compound sentence এর দুইটি clause কে and, but, or, yet ইত্যাদি conjunction দ্বারা যুক্ত করতে হয়।

Conjunction:
A conjunction is a part of speech that connects two or more words, phrase, clause or sentence.
- Conjunction হলো একটি part of speech যা দুই বা ততোধিক words, phrase, clause বা sentence কে যুক্ত করে। 
- যেমন: but, or, and.

Conjunction সাধারণত দুই প্রকার।
যেমন:
1. Coordinating or Coordinative Conjunction.
2. Subordinating or Subjective Conjunction.

• Conjunction (Since)
- Since যদি দুটি Clause কে যুক্ত করে তাহলে টা হবে Conjunction.
- "যেহেতু বা কারণ" অর্থে Since ব্যবহার হলে তা Conjunction হয়ে যায়।

• উল্লিখত অপশনগুলোর মধ্যে - Since you are here early, let's start the meeting. - বাক্যে Since হচ্ছে Conjunction.
- প্রদত্ত Sentence টির বাংলা অর্থ - যেহেতু তুমি আগেই এসেছ, চল মিটিং শুরু করি।
- এখানে 'যেহেতু' অর্থে Since ব্যবহার হয়েছে এবং দুইটি clause কে যুক্ত করতে ব্যবহার হয়েছে তাই এটি Conjunction.

• উল্লিখিত বাকি অপশনগুলো,
• Since (followed by a noun), Preposition হিসেবে Sentence এ বসে।
- 'থেকে' অর্থে Since ব্যবহার হলে এটি Preposition.
- Example: 
- He has lived in Dhaka since 2015.
- He hasn't eaten anything since morning.

• আবার Since যদি কোন Sentence এর শেষে বসে তখন তা Adverb হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়।

• Interjections – Words that express sudden feelings or emotions of the human mind.

Examples: surprise, joy, pain, sorrow, anger, etc.
• Wow - A common interjection expressing amazement or admiration.

Wow (Interjection)
English meaning: Expressing wonder or amazement
Bangla meaning: হায়! বাহ! দারুণ!

Example Sentence:
- Wow! That magic trick was incredible!
- Bangla: বাহ! ওই জাদুর খেলা অবিশ্বাস্য ছিল!

• Stand against somebody/something [phrasal verb]
- English Meaning: to oppose a person, organization, plan, decision, etc.
- Bangla Meaning: প্রতিরোধ করা; রুখে দাঁড়ানো; বাধা দেওয়া।

- Stand to - অঙ্গীকার রক্ষা বলা; অবিচলিতভাবে লেগে থাকা; (সামরিক বাহিনীর ক্ষেত্রে) সম্ভাব্য আক্রমণ প্রতিহত করার জন্য সুদৃঢ় অবস্থান রচনা করা।

• Take pride in something/someone (phrase):
English Meaning: To feel very pleased about something or someone you are closely connected with.
Bangla Meaning: গৌরব করা; দর্প করা।

Lodge something (with somebody) (against somebody) যথাযথ কর্তৃপক্ষকে জানানো।
They wanted to lodge a complaint against him with the authorities.

• Complete sentence: In light of their findings, new procedures were established.
- Bangla meaning: তাদের আবিষ্কারের আলোকে নতুন প্রক্রিয়া স্থাপিত হয়েছে।

• In light of/ in the light of something:
- English Meaning: because or as a result of; in consideration of; from the point of view of.
- Bangla Meaning: জন্য; দরুন; আলোকে; বিবেচনায় ইত্যাদি।

- অর্থাৎ, In light of অর্থ "বিবেচনায়" বা "আলোকে" – যা কারণ বা ভিত্তি নির্দেশ করে।

অন্যদিকে,
খ) Nonetheless অর্থ "তবুও" – এটি বিরোধিতা প্রকাশ করে।
গ) Inspite ভুল; সঠিক হলো "In spite of" অর্থ "সত্ত্বেও" যা বিরোধিতা প্রকাশ করে।
ঘ) Despite অর্থ "সত্ত্বেও" – এটিও বিরোধিতা প্রকাশ করে (Despite their findings = তাদের আবিষ্কার সত্ত্বেও)।
- অর্থাৎ, সত্ত্বেও অর্থে preposition হিসেবে Despite বা In spite of ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- অতএব, সঠিক উত্তর হলো- ক) In light of.

• Complete sentence: It was raining, yet they continued playing football.
- Bangla meaning: বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিল, তবুও তারা ফুটবল খেলা চালিয়ে গেল।

• Yet (Conjunction)
- English Meaning: despite that; but at the same time; but nevertheless.
- Bangla Meaning: তৎসত্ত্বেও; একইসঙ্গে; যাই হোক।

• Yet এর ব্যবহার:
- Yet is used to add something that seems surprising because of what you have just said.
- অর্থাৎ, যা বলা হয়েছে তার সাথে আশ্চর্যজনক/চমকপ্রদ তথ্য যোগ করতে 'তৎসত্ত্বেও' অর্থে Yet ব্যবহার করা হয়।

অন্যদিকে,
• Unless (Except if)
- 'যদি না' অর্থে এটি শর্ত বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- এটি নিজেই negative অর্থ প্রদান করে।
- এজন্যে unless দ্বারা যে clause শুরু হয় তাতে no বা not বসে না।
- যেমন: You won't pass the exam unless you study seriously.

• Because (For the reason that; since)
-  সে-কারণে; কেননা; যেহেতু অর্থে conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- যেমন: She stayed home because she was feeling unwell.

• So (In order that; for that reason)
- সুতরাং; অতএব; সে-কারণে; সেই জন্য অর্থে Subordinating conjunction হিসেবে 'so' ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- প্রথম clause এর ফলশ্রুতিতে দ্বিতীয় clause এর পূর্বে so বসে।
- যেমন: You asked me to come, so I came.

• ভবিষ্যৎকালের ব্যাপক সময়ের পূর্বে in বসে এবং নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের জন্য by অথবা before বসে।

• অতীতের নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের পূর্বে since অথবা from এবং ব্যাপক সময়ের পূর্বে for বসে।

• প্রদত্ত Sentence টি Future Tense এ আছে এবং Monday উল্লেখ করার কারণে সময়টি নির্দিষ্ট বুঝিয়েছে।
- তাই এখানে in ব্যবহার না হয়ে before ব্যবহার হয়েছে।

• Correct answer: She will have completed the assignment before Monday.

- call in অর্থ ডাকা,
- call off অর্থ বাতিল করা,
- call out অর্থ চিৎকার করা,
- call up অর্থ স্মরণ করা।
- সঠিক বাক্যঃ He was asked to call in a doctor.

• Complete Sentence: He was debarred from promotion.

- Debar শব্দের অর্থ হলো বাধা দেওয়া বা বঞ্চিত করা - সাধারণত কোনও অধিকার বা সুবিধা থেকে।
- যখন কাউকে কোনও কাজ বা সুবিধা থেকে বিরত রাখা হয়, তখন “from” Preposition ব্যবহার হয়।
- এখানে promotion (পদোন্নতি) থেকে debarred (বঞ্চিত) করা হয়েছে, তাই “from” ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- বাক্যটি অর্থ দিচ্ছে - তাকে পদোন্নতির সুযোগ থেকে বাধা দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

Other options:
খ) of – “debar of” বলা যায় না, এটি ব্যাকরণগতভাবে ভুল।

গ) off – “off” দূরত্ব বা আলাদা হওয়ার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়, এখানে প্রযোজ্য নয়।

ঘ) with – “with” সহযোগিতা বোঝায়, “debar”-এর সাথে ব্যবহার হয় না।

- বড় স্থানের পূর্বে: শহর, দেশ বা কোনো বড় এলাকার নামের আগে 'in' বসে।

 In Preposition এর ব্যবহার:
- কোনো কিছুর ভিতরে বোঝাতে  'in' ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- Example: I am in the reading room.
- বড় স্থানের পূর্বে: শহর, দেশ বা কোনো বড় এলাকার নামের আগে 'in' বসে।
- Example: I live in Bangladesh.
- নির্দিষ্ট মাস, বছর বা ঋতু বোঝাতে: মাস, বছর, ঋতু 'in' বসে।

ক) At
- নির্দিষ্ট স্থান বোঝাতে:
- Example: He lives at Lalbag.
- নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে:
- যেমন -I wake up at 6:30 AM in the morning.

খ) On:
- Day/Date-এর ক্ষেত্রে "On" ব্যবহার করা হয়:
- অর্থাৎ দিন বা তারিখের পূর্বে on বসে।
- The meeting was held on Monday.
- I was born on 16th December.

ঘ) Within:
- নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে: কোনো কাজ একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের আগে বা পরে শেষ হবে এমনটা বোঝাতে 'within' ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: I will come back within 20 minutes.
- নির্দিষ্ট স্থানের মধ্যে: কোনো বস্তু বা স্থান একটি নির্দিষ্ট সীমার ভেতরে আছে বোঝাতে 'within' ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- "Across" preposition ব্যবহার করা হয় যখন কোনো কিছুর এক পাশ থেকে অন্য পাশে যাওয়া বোঝায়।

• Use of across as Preposition
- "across' সাধারণত এক প্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্তে যেতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Example: I swam across the river.
- কিছু ক্ষেত্রে এটি কোনো কিছুর উপর দিয়ে আড়াআড়িভাবে যাওয়ার অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয়.
- Example: The road runs across the city.

ক) through
- এটি কোনো কিছুর ভিতর দিয়ে যাওয়া বোঝায় তবে ,নদীর ক্ষেত্রে এটি ঠিক নয়।

ঘ) During - কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময়কাল বা ঘটনার সময়ের মধ্যে কিছু ঘটে বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- Bangla meaning: কিছু মানুষ কখনও খবরের কাগজও পড়ে না, বই তো দূরের কথা।

• Let alone do something
- অসম্ভব বলে কোনো কিছু ভাবা যায় না বা চিন্তা করা যায় না বোঝাতে 'let alone' ব্যবহার হয়।
- অর্থাৎ, প্রথম কাজই করতে পারে না তাই দ্বিতীয় কাজের সম্ভাবনা আরো কম বা অসম্ভব এরকম ক্ষেত্রে "Let alone" ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- সাধারণত negative sentence -এর পরে  let alone ব্যবহার হয়।
- যেমন: He didn't study for the test, let alone pass it.

• Appropriate preposition এর ক্ষেত্রে,
- Adhere এর সাথে 'বিশ্বস্ত/ অনুগত/ অবিচল থাকা; বিচ্যুত না-হওয়া; দৃঢ়ভাবে সমর্থন করা' অর্থ বুঝাতে to বসে।
- এই বাক্যটির ক্ষেত্রে to বসালে বাক্যটির অর্থ পরিপূর্ণ হয়।
- তাই এই বাক্যে preposition হিসেবে to বসবে।
