- A metaphor is a direct comparison between two unlike things without using “like” or “as”.
- যখন কোনো বাক্যে দুটি ভিন্ন বা বিজাতীয় জিনিসের মাঝে পরোক্ষভাবে বা রূপকার্থে তুলনা করা হয় তাকে বলা হয় Metaphor.

- অর্থাৎ, দুটি ভিন্নধর্মী জিনিসের মধ্যে As  ও Like দ্বারা তুলনা বোঝালে তাকে Simile বলে।

গ) Hyperbole (অতিশয়োক্তি):
- An exaggerated statement or an extreme overstatement.
- অতিশয়োক্তি; অত্যুক্তি; অতিরঞ্জন।
- কমেডিতে ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে অতিরঞ্জিত ভাব প্রকাশের জন্য Hyperbole ব্যবহৃত হয়। 
- Love poetry তে প্রিয়জনের প্রতি তীব্র প্রশংসা জানাতে Hyperbole ব্যবহৃত হয়। 
- Hyperbole হাসির উদ্রেক অথবা কঠিন সমালোচনা প্রকাশ করতে পারে।
- যেমন: Ten thousand saw I at a glance.

ঘ) Personification (ব্যক্তিরূপ দান):
- A figure of speech in which lifeless objects or ideas are given imaginary life.
- অর্থাৎ, নির্জীব বা জড় বস্তুকে ব্যক্তিরূপে প্রয়োগ করার কৌশল।
- Personification এর মাধ্যমে কোন জড় বস্তুকে কাল্পনিক জীবন দান করে সেগুলোকে উপমা হিসাবে লেখায় ব্যবহার করা হয়।
