Inversion হলো এমন একটি বাক্যগঠন যেখানে Subject–Verb এর স্বাভাবিক ক্রম উল্টে যায়।
সাধারণত negative বা restrictive adverb (যেমন: rarely, never, hardly, seldom, little ইত্যাদি) বাক্যের শুরুতে এলে inversion হয়।
• Inversion of the verb

Verb + ing যখন noun এর কাজ করে তখন তা Gerund। বাক্যটিতে copying noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে তাই এটি Gerund.
Verb + ing এর পূর্বে the এবং পরে of থাকলে তাকে Verbal noun বলে।
Verb + ing যখন adjective এর কাজ করে তখন তা participle।
To + verb এর base form যখন অসমাপিকা ক্রিয়া হিসেবে কাজ করে তখন তাকে Infinitive বলে।

- যে Subordinate Clause কোনো Noun বা Pronoun এর পরে বসে ঐ Noun বা Pronoun কে modify করে তাকে Adjective Clause বলে।
- অর্থাৎ Noun এর Post Modifier হিসাবে Adjective clause বসে।
