Comparative and Superlative Degree

- Positive: Very few novels are as popular as Pride and Prejudice.
- Comparative: Pride and Prejudice is more popular than most other novels.

• Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree-তে পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence-এর শেষের Subject + Verb বসে।
- এরপর Positive Degree এর Comparative form বসে।
- তারপর than most other বসে।
- তারপর very few-এর পর থেকে verb-এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত অংশ।
- উল্লেখ্য যে, than most other এর পরে plural noun বসে।

- Positive: Very few cities in Asia are as crowded as Dhaka.
- Comparative: Dhaka is more crowded than most other cities in Asia.

• Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence-এর শেষের Subject বসে।
- Subject অনুযায়ী Verb বসে।
- Positive Degree এর Comparative form বসে।
- Very few -এর পরিবর্তে than most other বসে।
- very few-এর পর থেকে verb-এর পূর্ববর্তী অংশ বসে।

- অর্থাৎ, প্রদত্ত sentence এর শেষের subject + verb + positive degree এর comparative form + than most other + Very few এর পর থেকে verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।

- এই sentence টি positive degree যুক্ত,
- Very few যুক্ত positive degree কে superlative degree তে রুপান্তর করার নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত sentence এর শেষের Subject + verb + one of the + positive এর superlative form + very few এর পর থেকে verb এর মাঝের অংশ।
- Russia is one of the largest countries in the world.
- অন্য অপশনগুলো তে সঠিক structure follow করা হয় নি। 

Other options:
ক) Russia is the largest country in the world.
- এটি সঠিক Superlative Degree গঠন না। one of the হবে।

খ) Russia is larger than most other countries in the world.
- এটি comparative degree.

- এটি comparitive degree.

No other থাকলে Superlative করতে হলে -
1. Subject- Object এবং Object - Subject হয়ে বসবে।
2. no other বাদ যাবে।
3. Indicator Change হবে (as ….. as/ so …….as ----> the)

• No other যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence এর শেষের Subject টি প্রথমে বসে।
- প্রদত্ত Verb বসে।
- Positive Degree এর Comparative Degree বসে।
- than any other বসে।
- No other এরপর থেকে Verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে।

• Positive Degree: No other city in Bangladesh is as crowded as Dhaka. 
• Comparative Degree: Dhaka is more crowded than any other city in Bangladesh.

• Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree-তে পরিণত করার নিয়ম:
- Structure: প্রদত্ত Sentence-এর শেষের Subject + Verb + Positive Degree এর Comparative form + than most other + very few-এর পর থেকে verb-এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত অংশ।
- Example:
- Positive: Very few metals are as costly as gold.
- Comp: Gold is costlier than most other metals.

- Correct Answer: ক) Paris is more beautiful than most other cities in the world.

Superlative: Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world.

• No other যুক্ত Positive degree কে Superlative করার নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে "no other" বাদ যাবে।
- Object (Positive degree -এর পরের) টি Subject হয়ে বসবে।
- তারপর verb বসবে।
- এরপর the + superlative degree বসবে।
- No other এর পরের Subject টি Object হয়ে বসবে।
- বাকি অংশ বসবে।

Other options,
ক) Burj Khalifa is the most tall building in the world.
- ভুল কারণ, "tall" এর Superlative form "tallest". 

গ) Burj Khalifa is one of the most tallest building in the world.
- ভুল কারণ, "No other" যুক্ত Positive degree কে Superlative করার ক্ষেত্রে Object+ verb+ the + superlative degree বসবে।

ঘ) Switzerland is one of the most peaceful countries.
- ভুল কারণ, "No other" যুক্ত Positive degree কে Superlative করার ক্ষেত্রে Object+ verb+ the + superlative degree বসবে।

Correct Answer: গ) The Padma is longer than any other river in Bangladesh.

Rule: The + Superlative → Comparative:
যদি বাক্যে The + superlative degree থাকে, সেটিকে Comparative Degree-তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম হলো:
- Superlative degree-এর Subject প্রথমে বসে।
- Subject অনুযায়ী Verb বসে।
- The বাদ যায়।
- Superlative adjective-কে Comparative form-এ রূপান্তর করতে হয় (‑er / more + adjective)।
- তারপর than any other (singular noun) অথবা than all other (plural noun) বসে।
- বাক্যের বাকি অংশ অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।

অর্থাৎ যদি কোনো বাক্যে The + superlative degree থাকে, সেটিকে Comparative Degree-তে রূপান্তর করার জন্য প্রথমে বাক্যের Subject বসাতে হয়। Subject অনুযায়ী Verb বসে। এরপর The বাদ দিতে হয়। Superlative adjective-কে Comparative form-এ রূপান্তর করতে হয় (যেমন: longest → longer, most beautiful → more beautiful)। তারপর than any other (singular noun) অথবা than all other (plural noun) বসাতে হয়। সবশেষে বাক্যের বাকি অংশ অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।

Structure: Subject + verb + comparative adjective + than any other + singular noun + অবশিষ্ট অংশ (যদি থাকে)।
 
উল্লিখিত প্রশ্নের মাঝে,
Given Superlative Sentence: The Padma is the longest river in Bangladesh. 
Correct Comparative Sentence: The Padma is longer than any other river in Bangladesh.

Other options:
ক) The Padma is longer than many rivers in Bangladesh. → এখানে then নয় than হবে, আর many rivers যথাযথ নয়।
খ) The Padma is longer than other rivers in Bangladesh. → এখানে long এর comparative হলো longer, more long নয়।
ঘ) The Padma is longer than many other river in Bangladesh. → এখানে that নয় than হবে, আর river plural হওয়া দরকার (rivers)।
 
Example Sentence:
Superlative: She is the smartest student in the class.
Comparative: She is smarter than any other student in the class.
Superlative: Winter is the coldest season in Bangladesh.
Comparative: Winter is colder than any other season in Bangladesh.
Superlative: The tiger is the most powerful animal in the forest.
Comparative: The tiger is more powerful than any other animal in the forest.

Latter দুজন ব্যক্তি / বস্তুর মধ্যে যেটা পরবর্তীতে উল্লেখিত হয়েছে সেটি কে নির্দেশ করে ৷ Latter Comparative হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় না ৷ কিন্তু অন্য option গুলোর Comparative Form ঠিক আছে ৷

Latter: The second of two people, things, or groups previously mentioned.

Example: She offered me more money or a car and I chose the latter.

One of the থাকলে Comparative করার সময় than many other + Plural Noun অথবা than most other + Plural Noun বসে।

- Comparative: Gold is more valuable than any other metal.
- Superlative: Gold is the most valuable metal.

• 'Than any other/ than all other' যুক্ত Comparative degree কে Superlative degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে subject +verb বসবে।
- তারপর comparative এর Superlative form বসবে।
- Than any other/ Than all other বাদ যাবে এবং এরপর তার বাকি অংশ টি বসবে।

- Comparative: He is more hardworking than any other employee in the office.
- Superlative: He is the most hardworking employee in the office.

রুলস: সাধারণভাবে comparative degree এর পরে than বসে। তবে কতিপয় শব্দের পরে than না বসে to বসে।
শব্দগুলো হলো: ‍senior, junior, inferior, superior, prior, ulterior, posterior ইত্যাদি।
তাই সঠিক উত্তর prior.

• One of the যুক্ত Superlative Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম:

- প্রথমে প্রদত্ত Sentence- এর Subject ও Verb বসে,
- One of the উঠে যায়,
- Superlative Degree-এর Comparative form বসে,
- than most other বসে,
- প্রদত্ত Sentence- এর বাকী অংশ বসে।

Structure: Subject + Verb + Superlative Degree এর Comparative form + than most other + প্রদত্ত Sentence এর বাকী অংশ।

Superlative: He is one of the best players on the team.
Comparative: He is better than most other players on the team.

Superlative: She is one of the kindest teachers in the school.
Comparative: She is kinder than most other teachers in the school.

Other options,
ক) She is kinder then other teachers in the school.
 → “then” ভুল; comparative-এ than হবে।

খ) She is kinder than most other teacher in the school.
→ “teacher” singular, এখানে plural হওয়া উচিত।

ঘ) She is kinder then most other teachers in the school.
→ “then” ভুল, comparative-এ than হবে।

• Correct Answer: খ) Einstein is one of the most brilliant scientists in the world.

- Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Superlative Degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence টির শেষের Subject প্রথমে বসে।
- verb বসে।
- one of the বসে।
- Positive Degree এর Superlative form বসে।
- Very few এরপর থেকে verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত অংশ বসে।

Positive: Very few boys in the village are as smart as Rasel.
Superlative: Rasel is one of the smartest boys in the village.

Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree-তে পরিণত করার নিয়ম -

Structure:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence-এর শেষের Subject;
- Verb;
- Positive Degree এর Comparative form;
- than most other;
- very few-এর পর থেকে verb-এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত অংশ।

সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর - Iron is stronger than most other metals.

- Comparative: Mount Everest is higher than any other peak in the world.
- Superlative: Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world.

• 'Than any other/ than all other' যুক্ত Comparative sentence কে Superlative করার নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে subject +verb বসবে।
- তারপর comparative এর Superlative form বসবে।
- Than any other/ Than all other বাদ যাবে এবং এরপর তার বাকি অংশ টি বসবে।

- Comparative: He is more hardworking than any other employee in the office.
- Superlative: He is the most hardworking employee in the office.

- Positive: No other player in the team is as fast as Rony.
- Superlative: Rony is the fastest player in the team.

• No other যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Superlative Degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- প্রথমে No other বাদ যাবে।
- Object টি Subject হয়ে বসবে।
- তারপরে  Subject অনুযায়ী verb বসবে।
- এরপর the + superlative degree বসবে।
- এর পাশাপাশি Subject টি Object হয়ে বসবে।
- বাকি অংশ বসবে।

- Positive: No other person is as good as Rafi in the team.
- Superlative: Rafi is the best person in the team.

দুটির মধ্যে compare করার জন্য comparative degree ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Able এর সঠিক comparative degree হচ্ছে - Abler.

এ রকম Positive Degree যুক্ত বাক্যের সঠিক Comparative ২ ভাবে হতে পারে।
প্রথম পদ্ধতি:
1. Subject- Object হয়, Object - Subject হয়।
2. Affirmative -Negative হয়, Negative- Affirmative হয়।
3. Degree change হয়।
4. Indicator Change হয় (as... as/ so....as --> than)।
এ নিয়মে সঠিক উত্তর - Monir is not more punctual than Sabbir.
অন্য নিয়ম হচ্ছে more এর পরিবর্তে less যোগ করা। আর তখন “Subject- Object হয়, Object - Subject হয়” এ কাজ প্রযোজ্য হবে না। এ নিয়মে সঠিক উত্তর - Sabbir is not less punctual than Monir. তাই not না থাকায় (গ) ভুল।

• Correct Answer: Rahim is more skilled than any other player in the team.

• No other যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
- প্রদত্ত Sentence এর শেষের Subject টি প্রথমে বসে।
- প্রদত্ত Verb বসে।
- Positive Degree এর Comparative Degree বসে।
- than any other বসে।
- No other এরপর থেকে Verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে।

• Positive Degree: No other player in the team is as skilled as Rahim. 
• Comparative Degree: Rahim is more skilled than any other player in the team.

• The + superlative degree থেকে comparative degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম:
(i) Superlative Subject + Verb,
(ii) The উঠে যাবে,
(iii) Superlative এর Comparative form + than any other (singular noun)/than all other (plural noun).
(iv) বাকি অংশ।

Superlative: Dhaka is the busiest city in the country.
Comparative: Dhaka is busier than any other city in the country.

Correct answer: Farthest.

Farthest (adjective)
- English meaning: most distant, especially in space or time.
- Bangla meaning: সর্বাপেক্ষা অধিক দূরে বা ভিতরে।

Other options:
ক) Farther
- এটি হলো Comparative Degree যা (physical distance) বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

খ) Further
- এটিও Comparative Degree এর উদাহরণ যা (physical /additional) বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

 গ) Most Far
- এটি Grammatically সঠিক নয়।

Other options:
ক) She is more generous than any other people.
- "Very few" যুক্ত positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে পরিবর্তন করার সময় very few এর পরিবর্তে than most other বসে।তাই এটি সঠিক নয়।

খ) She is more generous then most other people.
- "Very few" যুক্ত positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে পরিবর্তন করার সময় very few এর পরিবর্তে "than most other" বসে।
- এখানে "Then most other" ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে, তাই এটি সঠিক নয়।

ঘ) She is more generous than other people.
- Very few" যুক্ত positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে পরিবর্তন করার সময় very few এর পরিবর্তে "than most other" বসে।
- এখানে শুধু "Then other" ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে, তাই এটি সঠিক নয়।
