- বাক্যে verb - 'enjoy' -এর object হিসেবে বসায় এটি gerund হয়েছে।

• Gerund
- Verb -এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যখন noun -এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ verb ও noun -এর কাজ করে, তখন তাকে gerund বলে।
- সহজ ভাষায়, Gerund = verb + ing = noun = verb + noun.
- অর্থাৎ, Gerund হলো ing দিয়ে শেষ হওয়া word যা verb থেকে তৈরি হয়ে noun -এর কাজ করে।

• Note: Gerund don’t describe actions; they act as nouns.

• একটি sentence -এর বিভিন্ন স্থানে gerund বসতে পারে। যেমন:
1. As subject: Swimming is a good exercise.
2. As object: I like playing Tennis.
3. As an object of preposition: He is fond of reading books.
4. As a complement of verbs: Reading is learning.

- enlightening, running এবং winning, present participle -এর কাজ করছে।

• Participle
- A participle is a verb that ends in -ing (present participle) or -ed, -d, -t, -en, -n (past participle). Participles may function as adjectives, describing or modifying nouns.
- Participle একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ করে।
- এজন্য participle কে double parts of speech বলা হয়।

• Present participle
- Present Participle মূলত ঘটমান কোন কাজকে বোঝায় এবং বিশেষ করে noun/pronoun কে modify করে একই সাথে verb এবং adjective -এর কাজ করে।
- Present Participle-এ Verb-এর সাথে ing যোগ করা হয়।
