Complement হচ্ছে যা Subject বা Object সম্পর্কে উদ্ভূত ‘কী’ প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিয়ে বাক্যের অর্থকে Complete করে। Subject এবং Object ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু হয়ে থাকে, কিন্তু Complement – Subject বা Object সম্পর্কেই কিছু একটা বলবে। Subject সম্পর্কে বললে এটাকে বলা হয় Subjective Complement আর Object সম্পর্কে বললে এটাকে বলা হয় Objective Complement.
