অ্যাপ্লিকেশন সফটওয়্যার মূলত দুই ধরনের। যথাঃ
১. প্যাকেজ প্রোগ্রাম ও
২. কাস্টমাইজ প্রোগ্রাম।

প্যাকেজ প্রােগ্রাম: ব্যবহারিক সমস্যা সমাধানাের জন্য বেশ কিছু প্রােগ্রাম বাণিজ্যিক ভিত্তিতে পাওয়া যায়। এ ধরনের প্রােগ্রাম দিয়ে নির্দিষ্ট ধরনের কাজ করা যায়। এ প্রােগ্রামে ব্যবহারিক সমস্যার পূর্ণাঙ্গ সমাধান দেয়ার ব্যবস্থা থাকে। এ সব প্রােগ্রামকে প্যাকেজ প্রােগ্রাম বলে। নিম্নে কয়েকটি প্যাকেজ প্রােগ্রামের উদাহরণ দেয়া হলাে। যেমন
১। ওয়ার্ড প্রসেসিং সফটওয়্যার।
২। ডেস্কটপ পাবলিশিং সফটওয়্যার।
৩। স্প্রেডশিট সফটওয়্যার।
৪। ডাটাবেজ ম্যানেজমেন্ট সফটওয়্যার।
৫। গ্রাফিক্স, মাল্টিমিডিয়া এবং প্রেজেন্টেশন সফটওয়্যার।
৬। এন্টারটেইনমেন্ট এবং এডুকেশন সফটওয়্যার।
৭। ইউটিলিটিস সফটওয়্যার।
৮। কমিউনিকেশন সফটওয়্যার ইত্যাদি।

MS Word হলো একটি ওয়ার্ড প্রসেসিং সফটওয়্যার, যা প্যাকেজ প্রােগ্রামের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।

ইন্ট্রানেট এবং এক্সট্রানেট:
ধরা যাক একটি বৃহৎ কোম্পানি যার অফিস দেশের বিভিন্ন বিভাগীয় সদরে এবং দেশের বাইরেও আরও কয়েকটি দেশব্যাপি বিস্তৃত। এই কোম্পানির প্রতিটি অফিসেই ল্যান রয়েছে এবং দেশে ও দেশের বাইরে এই ল্যানগুলো পরস্পরের সাথে যুক্ত। এ ধরনের নেটওয়ার্ককে ওয়ান (WAN) বলা যায়।
তবে পার্থক্য হচ্ছে, এই ওয়ানের একটি অংশ বা রিসাের্স (যেমন : আর্থিক হিসাব, প্রশাসন, ব্যবস্থাপনা, ব্যবসায়িক কৌশল ইত্যাদি) অত্যন্ত সুরক্ষিত অবস্থায় থাকে। পাসওয়ার্ড ব্যবহার করে শুধু কোম্পানির নিজস্ব লােকজন এসব রিসাের্স ব্যবহার করতে পারে।
কোম্পানির সুৱক্ষিত রিসোর্স সংবলিত এই নেটওয়ার্ক অংশটিকে বলা হয় ইন্ট্রানেট (Intranet)।
ইন্টারনেটের মতােই সম্প্রতি ইন্ট্রানেটও ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা পেয়েছে। ইট্রানেট হচ্ছে একটি কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্ক যা ইন্টারনেট প্রটোকল প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে তথ্য, কর্মক্ষম সিস্টেম অথবা কম্পিউটিং সেবা শেয়ার করে।

কোন কোম্পানির ওয়ানের একটি নির্দিষ্ট অংশ বা এর রিসাের্স সকলের জন্য উন্মুক্ত থাকতে পারে। এসব উন্মুক্ত রিসাের্সের মধ্যে থাকতে পারে কোম্পানির প্রােফাইল, প্রজেক্ট এবং প্রোগ্রাম, শেয়ার স্ট্যাটাস, বাৎসরিক প্রতিবেদন ইত্যাদি। কোম্পানির ওয়েবসাইটের মাধ্যমে সাধারণ ইউজাররা এসব তথ্য দেখতে পারে বা ডাউনলােড করে সংরক্ষণ করতে পাত্রে। ওয়ানের এ ধরনের উক্ত অংশকে বলা হয় এক্সট্রানেট (Extranet)।

স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রামঃ
হিসাব নিকাশের কাজ করার জন্য স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রাম ব্যবহৃত হয়। স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রাম সাধারণত কোন ব্যবসায়িক প্রতিষ্ঠানের বছরের শেষের হিসাবের বিবরণ তৈরির জন্য খুবই উপযোগি।
এই প্রোগ্রামের সবচেয়ে বড় সুবিধা হল যদি কোন অংশ ভুল হয় তাহলে সে অংশ পরিবর্তন করে শুদ্ধ করলে তার সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত সম্পুর্ণ হিসাবে স্বয়ংসম্পুর্ণভাবে পরিবর্তিত হয়ে যায়। আইবিএম পিসির প্রথম ব্যবহারকারী স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রাম হল লোটাস ১-২-৩  (Lotus 1-2-3)। এটি ডস ভিত্তিক।
সরাসরি উইন্ডোজ ভিত্তিক স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রাম হল মাইক্রোসফট এক্সেল  (Microsoft Excel)। এক্সেলে অনেক বেশি পরিমাণে কাজ করা যায় এবং কাজের সুবিধাও অনকে বেশি।
ম্যাকিনটোশ পার্সোনাল কম্পিউটারেরও প্রধান স্প্রেডশিট প্রোগ্রাম হল মাইক্রোসফট এক্সেল।

ওয়াইড এরিয়া নেটওয়ার্ক (WAN): বিশাল ভৌগলিক এলাকার মধ্যে একাধিক ল্যান বা ম্যান নিয়ে গড়ে ওঠে ওয়াইড এরিয়া নেটওয়ার্ক। এক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহারকারীরা টেলিফোন লাইন ব্যবহার করে নেটওয়ার্কের কম্পিউটারের সাথে সংযােগ স্থাপন করে।

মেশ টপোলজির ক্ষেত্রে নেটওয়ার্কের অধীনস্থ প্রত্যেকটি নোড (কম্পিউটার বা ডিভাইস) একে অপরের সঙ্গে সরাসরি যুক্ত থাকে।

উল্লেখ্য যে, মেশ টপোলজিতে যদি n সংখ্যক নোড (কম্পিউটার বা অন্য ডিভাইস) থাকে তাহলে প্রতিটি নোডে (n-1) টি সংযোগের প্রয়োজন হয় এবং এই নেটওয়ার্কে মোট তারের সংখ্যা হবে n(n - 1)/2 টি।
যে সকল নেটওয়ার্কের ক্ষেত্রে ডেটা ট্রান্সফারে দ্রুত গতি কাম্য ও ডেটা যোগাযোগের নির্ভরশীলতাই মুখ্য এবং নেটওয়ার্ক স্থাপনের ব্যয় বা খরচ যেখানে গৌণ সেসব ক্ষেত্রে মেশ টপোলজি ব্যবহার করা হয়।

SWIFT codes can be from 8 to 11 characters in length.
It's structured as follows:
- The first four characters identify the particular institution or bank to which the transfer will be made
- The next two characters specify the country
- The following two identify the location - usually the city
- The final three characters are usually numerical and indicate a particular branch or office
- When the final three characters are not included, the transfer goes to the head office or branch.

The Internet emerged in the United States in the 1970s but did not become visible to the general public until the early 1990s.

There are three common protocols used to deliver email over the Internet:
- the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP),
- the Post Office Protocol (POP), and
- the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP).
All three use TCP, and the last two are used for accessing electronic mailboxes.
