Complete Sentence: 1971 miles is a long distance.

• Principal / Main / Independent Clause:
- যে সকল clause তাদের অর্থ প্রকাশের জন্য অন্য কোনো clause এর উপর নির্ভরশীল নয় তাদের principal clause বলে। Principal clause কে আবার Main clause বা Independent clause ও বলা হয়।

• Subordinate Clause:
- যে সকল clause তাদের অর্থ প্রকাশের জন্য অন্য কোনো clause এর উপর নির্ভরশীল তাদেরকে Subordinate Clause বলে।

• Co-ordinate clause:
- দুই বা ততোধিক principal clause বা co-ordinate clause দ্বারা যদি দুটি Independent clause যুক্ত থাকে তাহলে তাদেরকে Co-ordinate clause বলে।

যেমন-
- Some students - Indefinite Numeral Adjective. (some এরপর countable noun).
- Some water - Quantitative Adjective. ( some এরপর uncountable noun).

• যদি দুটো subject Either ... or, Neither .... nor, Not only ..... but also দ্বারা যুক্ত থাকে, তাহলে শেষের subject অনুসারে verb বসে। 
- Subject দুটোর মধ্যে একটি Singular ও অন্যটি Plural হলে সাধারণত Singular টি আগে এবং plural টি পরে বসে।

যেমন -
- Neither coffee nor tea was served at the meeting.
- Neither the concert tickets nor the hotel reservations are available anymore.

• সাধারণত had এর পরে Verb এর Past Participle বসে।
- তবে had better একটি Modal Auxiliary (had থাকা সত্ত্বেও) এর পর Verb এর base form বসবে।

Complete sentence: He had better apologize for his mistake.

• Complete Sentence: They were startled at the performance of the little boy.

Bangla Meaning: আকস্মিক বিস্ময়ে, ভয়ে বা চিৎকারে চমকে ওঠা।

1) Present + as if + Past Indefinite
- অর্থাৎ, as if এর পূর্বে present indefinite tense থাকলে as if এর পরে past indefinite হয় এবং be verb থাকলে সবসময় were হয়।
- Ex: She looks at me as if she knew me.
- বাক্যে as if , as though , wish এর পর to be verb আসলে তা সব সময় were হয়।
