- সাধারণত verb-কে কখন (when), কোথায় (where), কেন (why) ও কীভাবে (how) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটিই Adverbial phrase.
- যেমন: Last week he received the mail.

ঘ) Verb Phrase:
- যে phrase - verb-এর কাজ করে তাকে Verb Phrase বলে।

গ) Prepositional Phrase
- এই ধরণের Phrase গুলো preposition এর কাজ করে থাকে।
- There is a garden before my house.
- বাক্যটিতে Before মানে হলো সামনে।
- এটি একটি Preposition.কিন্তু এর পরিবর্তে in front of -phrase টি ব্যবহার করা যেতো।
- তাই in front of phrase টি একটি Prepositional phrase কারণ এটি Preposition এর মত কাজ করে Garden এবং my house এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে ।

ঘ) Noun phrase:
- Noun phrase হলো সেইসব phrase, যেসব phrase দ্বারা noun-এর কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়।
