Arduous (adjective)
(১) (কাজ সম্বন্ধে) দুঃসাধ্য; কষ্টকর।
(২) (পথ ইত্যাদি সম্বন্ধে) খাড়াভাবে উঠে বা নেমে গেছে এমন; উপরের দিকে ওঠা অত্যন্ত কষ্টসাধ্য এমন দুরারোহ।

Indirect Narration এ সব ধরনের Sentence ‘Assertive’ হয়। তাই Exclamatory Sentence কে নিয়ম অনুযায়ী Assertive Sentence এ রূপান্তর করতে হবে।
Reporting Verb – Present Tense হলে Reported Speech এর Tense এর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না। বিরক্তি প্রকাশ করলে say এর পরিবর্তে exclaim with disgust ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Downcast
(of a person's eyes) looking downwards.
(of a person) feeling despondent.
Synonym: Despondent; disheartened

Refrain from doing something - নিজেকে কোন কিছু থেকে বিরত রাখা।
সুতরাং সঠিক বাক্য - He refrained from taking any drastic action.

Wisdom এর adjective হচ্ছে wise. সুতরাং, ‘ful’ suffix যুক্ত করে এখানে যদি wisdomful শব্দ লেখা হয় তবে তা ভুল হবে।
বাকি শব্দগুলোর সাথে ful ব্যবহার করলে তারা adjective এ রূপান্তরিত হবে।

Burst into song/tears/laughter - to suddenly begin to sing/cry/laugh.
Example: Much to my surprise, Tamim suddenly burst into song.

Pre - before;
Vice - for, in place of;
Equi - equal, same;
Mal - bad

Insist on - to say or show that one believes that something is necessary or very important.
Example: She insists on doing everything her own way.

Advocate - a person who publicly supports or recommends a particular cause or policy.

Use of round as different parts of speech:
Noun - The boy played well in the first round.
Verb - They rounded the temple silently.
Adjective - A square peg in a round hole.
Preposition - The earth moves round the sun.

Hear, feel, see, smell প্রভৃতি verb of sensation এর পরে verb + ing হয়।
সুতরাং, এখানে সঠিক বাক্যটি হবে - I saw a girl swimming in the pool.

যেহেতু verb + ing দেয়া আছে, সেহেতু প্রশ্নে প্রদত্ত অপশন থেকে বোঝা যায় যে এখানে besides এর পরিবর্তে in spite of বসবে।
যেহেতু when পূর্ববর্তী clause টি present tense এ আছে, তাই এখানেও এ বাক্যের subject ‘he’ অনুসারে doesn’t বসবে।

বাক্যে past tense indicator 'last night' থাকায় বাক্যটি past indefinite tense-এ হবে।
সুতরাং, সঠিক বাক্য হলো 'He came last night'.

Little এর comparative degree হচ্ছে less এবং few এর comparative degree ‘fewer’.
Uncountable noun এর আগে less এবং countable এর আগে fewer বসে ‘তুলনামূলক কম’ অর্থ প্রদান করে।
এখানে people একটি countable noun, তাই এর পূর্বে fewer বসবে।

এই বাক্যে চেয়ারম্যান এবং সেক্রেটারি আলাদা ব্যক্তিকে বোঝাচ্ছে। এবং last meeting দ্বারা অতীতে ঘটে যাওয়া কোনো কাজকে নির্দেশ করছে, তাই এখানে were হবে।
কিন্তু এখানে যদি the headmaster and secretary হতো, তখন এটা দ্বারা একজন ব্যক্তিকে নির্দেশ করতো। সেক্ষেত্রে was হতো।

Sugar শব্দটি uncountable noun হওয়ায় এর পূর্বে uncountable determiner হিসেবে ‘much’ ব্যবহৃত হবে।
সুতরাং, শূন্যস্থানে হবে she did not have much sugar.

Already, just, never, ever প্রভৃতি adverb গুলো perfect tense এ have / has এর পর এবং verb-এর past participle form এর পূর্বে বসে।
তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী 'The train has already arrived from Dhaka.' বাক্যটিই সঠিক।

After দিয়ে শুরু হওয়ায় পরবর্তী clause টি independent হবে।
অর্থাৎ, সেখানে sub + verb হবে।
সুতরাং, শূন্যস্থানে হবে it should be stored, যেখানে ‘it’ হচ্ছে subject এবং ‘should be stored’ হচ্ছে verb.

কোনো শব্দের উচ্চারণ যদি ইউ বা ওয়া-এর মত হয় (যেমনঃ unique, university, one-legged), তবে ঐ noun-এর আগে 'a' বসে।
এবং, supreme, unique, excellent, perfect এই শব্দগুলো superlative form প্রদান করে। তাই এদের আগে very, most এসব ব্যবহার করতে হয় না।

যেসব শব্দ Verb, adjective বা অন্য কোনো adverb কে modify করে তাকে adverb বলে।
প্রশ্নোল্লিখিত বাক্যে রায়হানের কাজ wandering কে modify করছে about, তাই এ বাক্যে about হচ্ছে adverb।

বিরুদ্ধে/বিপক্ষে/প্রতিকূলে বুঝাতে Against ব্যবহার করা হয়। কোন কিছুর সাথে বা কোন কিছুর উপর নির্ভর করা বুঝালেও Against ব্যবহার করা হয়।
উপরের বাক্যটির অর্থ হলো - সে দেয়ালের সাথে হেলান দিয়ে বসল। তাই সঠিক উত্তর against হবে।

Circuitous (adjective)
(আনুষ্ঠানিক) পরোক্ষ; ঘোরানো; বৃত্তাকার; চক্রাকার a circuitous route.

Definition of pompous
Having or exhibiting self-importance; arrogant
Synonyms:
assumptive, bumptious, cavalier, presumptuous, pretentious.
Antonyms
humble, lowly, modest, unarrogant, unpretentious

Complex sentence এ who, which, that, what ইত্যাদি relative pronoun দ্বারা দুটি clause যুক্ত থাকে।
প্রদত্ত বাক্যে ‘I know’ এবং ‘his name is’ হলো দুটি clause, যা what দ্বারা যুক্ত রয়েছে।
সুতরাং বাক্যটি হবে complex.

Sentence - a set of words that is complete in itself, typically containing a subject and predicate, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command, and consisting of a main clause and sometimes one or more subordinate clauses.

সঠিক বাক্য হলো 'He shook hands with her'.
কারণ 'shake hands with somebody' অর্থ কারো সাথে করমর্দন করা।
তাছাড়া অন্য বাক্যগুলো ভুল।
অপশন ক-তে says এর পরিবর্তে called me, গ-তে know to এর পরিবর্তে know how to থাকলে এবং ঘ-তে about না থাকলে বাক্যগুলো সঠিক হতো।

Servile (adjective)
(পুরাতনী) দাসোচিত; ক্রীতদাসসুলভ; দাস্য।
আত্মবিশ্বাসহীন; স্বাধীনতার চেতনাবর্জিত।

Predicate - the part of a sentence or clause containing a verb and stating something about the subject.

Relative pronoun এর পর be verb + adjective থাকলে simple করার জন্য adjective টি relative pronoun এর ঠিক পূর্বের noun এর পূর্বে বসাতে হয়।

Positive বাক্যের interrogative করার সময় একে negative করতে হয়। Interrogative sentence এর negative form যদি সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপে যেমনঃ don’t, doesn’t, isn’t হয় তবে তা noun এবং pronoun উভয়ের পূর্বে বসে।
যেমনঃ Doesn’t she cook rice?
কিন্তু সংক্ষিপ্ত না হলে negative form টি noun এর পূর্বে এবং pronoun এর পরে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
যেমনঃ Does she not cook rice? Does not Amy cook rice?
