Caliban হলো William Shakespeare এর নাটক "The Tempest" -এর একটি বিখ্যাত চরিত্র।

The Tempest:
- এটি Shakespeare এর লিখিত একটি বিখ্যাত comedy.
- এটি 5-act এ বিভক্ত।
- Tempest শব্দটির অর্থ violent storm.
- এটিকে তার swan song বা last work বলা হয়।

• এই কমেডিতে Duke Prospero এবং তাঁর কন্যা Miranda এর কথা বলা হয়েছে, যারা কিনা ডিউকের ছোট ভাইয়ের দ্বারা ষড়যন্ত্রের স্বীকার হয়ে এক দূরদ্বীপে নির্বাসিত হয়।
- এই নাটকে Propero কে supernatural powers এর অধিকারী হিসেবে দেখানো হয়েছে যার আয়ত্ত্বে থাকে Ariel এবং Caliban নামক দুইটি supernatural creature.
