• The Metamorphosis: Written by Franz Kafka.
- এটি মূলত: একটা symbolic story; সার্বিক বিবেচনায় একটি novella বা সংক্ষিপ্ত উপন্যাস বলা যেতে পারে।
- প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল ১৯১৫ সালে, জার্মান ভাষায় এবং এর কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র: Gregor Samsa.

- একদিন সকালবেলা সে আবিস্কার করে সে একটি বৃহদাকার cockroach পোকায় রুপান্তরিত হয়ে গেছে। প্রথমে তার পরিবার অবাক হলেও, সমবেদনার পরিবর্তে তারা তার প্রতি বিরক্ত হয়ে ওঠে এবং তাকে বোঝা মনে করতে থাকে। শুধু তাই না, পরিবারের সদস্যগুলো এতদিন নিষ্ক্রিয় এবং পরনির্ভরশীল জীবন যাপন করলেও তারা এখন জীবিকার তাগিদে সবাই কর্মক্ষম এবং সক্রিয় হয়ে গেছে। 
- শেষে দেখা যায়, Gregor Samsa  এর মৃত্যুর পর তার পরিবারের সদস্যরা হাফ ছেড়ে বাঁচে এবং এ উপলক্ষে অবকাশ যাপনে যায়।

• Simile:
• An explicit comparison between two different things is called - Simile 
- Usually as and like are used in it. In simile the resemblance is explicitly indicated by the words.
- দুটি ভিন্নধর্মী জিনিসের মধ্যে As  ও Like দ্বারা তুলনা বোঝালে তাকে Simile বলে।
- উপমেয়ের সাথে উপমানের সাদৃশ্য কল্পনা করা।
- উদাহরণ - Love is like a battlefield.

• Metaphor:
- An implicit comparison between two different things.
- যখন কোনো বাক্যে দুটি ভিন্ন বা বিজাতীয় জিনিসের মাঝে পরোক্ষভাবে বা রূপকার্থে তুলনা করা হয় তাকে বলা হয় Metaphor.
- সাধারণত Metaphor দ্বারা এমন দুইটি জিনিসের মধ্যে তুলনা দেওয়া হয় যারা একই রকম বা সদৃশ নয় কিন্তু তাদের মধ্যে কিছু সাধারণ মিল থাকে।

• Metaphor এর উদাহরণ -
- It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
- "She's all states, and all princes, I"

• Difference Between Metaphor and Simile: 
- কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে Simile and Metaphor এর মধয়ে পার্থক্য নিরূপণ করা কষ্টসাধ্য হয়ে যায়।
- এই দুটি figure of speech ই মূলত তুলনা করার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- অন্যভাবে বলা যেতে পারে - simile is a subset of metaphor. 
- মুলত এদেরকে দুটি শব্দ “like” and “as. এর মাধ্যমে আলাদা করে চিহ্নিত করা সম্ভব।
- Metaphors create direct comparisons without using either of these words.
- Similes feature either like or as in making a comparison.
- অর্থাৎ, Metaphor হবে “like” and “as ব্যাতীত বাক্য, আর simile হবে “like” and “as. যুক্ত বাক্য।

- পরস্পরবিরোধী দুটি অর্থ একসাথে মিলে একটি অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে সেটি oxymoron-এর উদাহরণ।

- এখানে irregularly regular পরস্পরবিরোধী শব্দের মাধ্যমে একটি অর্থ প্রকাশ পেয়েছে।

• Paradox:
- A self-contradictory statement that hides a rational meaning. 
- Paradox হচ্ছে আপাত বিরোধী কিন্তু সত্য।
- Example: I must be cruel to be kind. (Hamlet, Shakespeare)
- যেখানে surface meaning কিংবা আপাত দৃষ্টিতে লাইনটির অর্থ contradictory.

• Paradox  এবং Oxymoron এর মাঝে পার্থক্য:
- Paradox এর মাঝে একাধিক বাক্য বা বিবৃতি অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতে পারে, কিন্তু Oxymoron এর মাঝে কেবল দুটি বিপরীতার্থক শব্দ পাশাপাশি বসবে।

- David Copperfield is a novel by Charles Dickens.
- উপন্যাসটির পুরো নাম: The Personal History of David Copperfield.
- পূর্নাঙ্গ বই আকারে এটি প্রকাশিত হয় ১৮৫০ সালে।
