Compound থেকে Simple করতে হলে আগে দেখতে হবে Compound এর দুটি Clause এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক কী রকম। নির্দিষ্ট সম্পর্ক অনুযায়ী, Compound থেকে Simple করতে হলে:
1. Compound এর Conjunction বাদ দিতে হবে; 
2. Simple এর Preposition যোগ করতে হবে;
3. ২টি Clause এর মধ্যে ১টি Clause যেভাবে আছে সেভাবে রেখে দিতে হবে।

এখানে উভয় Clause এর সম্পর্ক হচ্ছে কারণ-ফলাফল। এ হিসেবে Because of যথাযথ। Past Tense এ By বসালেও অর্থ ঠিক থাকে। আবার Because of উহ্য রেখে শুধু Verb+ing দিয়েও কারণ-ফলাফল বুঝানো যায়। অতএব, তিনটি অপশনই সঠিক।

Compound থেকে Complex করতে হলে:

3. 2টি Clause এর মধ্যে ১টি Clause যেভাবে আছে সেভাবে রেখে দিতে হবে।

And যুক্ত Compound Sentence এর একটি clause যদি অন্যটির সময় নির্দেশ করে, তবে উক্ত compound Sentence টিকে complex sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার সময় conjunction হিসেবে when বসে।
