♦ One Hundred Years of Solitude:
- রচনা করেন Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
- এই উপন্যাসটি প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় ১৯৬৭ সালে স্প্যানীশ ভাষায় ।
- লেখকের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ উপন্যাস এটি। এই উপন্যাসের জন্যই তিনি নোবেল পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন। পাশাপাশি এখানে Magic realism এরও প্রয়োগ দেখা যায়।

- ১৮২০ থেকে ১৯২০: ১০০ বছরের উপনিবেশ পরবর্তী লাতিন আমেরিকান অশান্ত রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাস এবং সেই সাথে Buendía family এর সাত প্রজন্মের কাহিনী।

- শহরের অধিবাসীদের উত্থান পতনের বিচিত্র কাহিনী উঠে এসেছে উপন্যাসটিতে। প্রথমদিকে বাইরের দুনিয়া থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন থাকলেও ধীরে ধীরে বহির্বিশ্বের সাথে যোগাযোগ স্থাপিত হয় শহরটির।
- প্রেম, বিরহ, বিচ্ছেদ, মৃত্য, ক্ষমতা, দ্বন্দ্ব, বেদনা আর উপনিবেশ পরবর্তী সমাজের বিভিন্ন দিক ফুটে উঠেছে কাহিনীর বাঁকে বাঁকে ৷
- শেষে দেখা যায়, প্রলয়ংকারী হারিকেন ঝড়ে পুরো গ্রামটি ধ্বংস হয়ে যায়। একমাত্র সদস্য হিসেবে বেঁচে থাকে, শতবর্ষী Aureliano Buendía যাকে পুরনো নঁথিপত্র ঘেঁটে তার পরিবারের ইতিহাস খুঁজতে দেখা যায়।

- Sam এবং Bill নামক দুইজন কিডন্যাপার একটি ধনী ব্যবসায়ীর সন্তান Johnny Dorset কে অপহরণ করে এবং তার বাবার কাছে মোটা অংকের মুক্তিপণ দাবী করে ।
- কিন্তু Sam এবং Bill আবিস্কার করে তারা যাকে অপহরণ করেছে সে একটি দুষ্টু এবং বেপরোয়া স্বভাবের ছেলে। ভয় পাওয়ার পরিবর্তে সে উল্টো কিডন্যাপারদের মানসিকভাবে যন্ত্রনা দেওয়া শুরু করে।
