• Prevaricate (verb transitive)

English Meaning: To avoid telling the truth or saying exactly what you think.
Bangla Meaning: (আনুষ্ঠানিক) অসত্য বা অংশত অসত্য উক্তি করা; (সম্পূর্ণ) সত্য বলা থেকে বিরত থাকা; সত্যের অপলাপ করা।

Synonyms: Quibble (কৌশলে পরিহার করা), Lie (মিথ্যা কথা বলা), Vacillate (দ্বিধা করা; দ্বিধান্বিত হওয়া), Palter (বাক চাতুর্য), Weasel (ধোঁকাবাজি করা)।
Antonyms: Assert (দৃঢ়ভাবে ঘোষণা করা), Swear (শপথ/হলফ/দিব্য করে বলা), Testify (সাক্ষ্য দেওয়া). Prove (প্রমান করা), Affirm (দৃঢ়তা সহকারে বলা)।

Other Forms:

• He kept the fast for a week. Here the underlined word is a - noun.
- সাধারণত Article, Preposition এর পর একটি word বসলে সেটি Noun হয়।
- Article এবং Preposition এর মাঝখানে একটি মাত্র word থাকলে সেটি noun হবে।
- আবার Article এবং Preposition এর মাঝখানে দুইটি word থাকলে শেষেরটি noun এবং এর পূর্বের টি Adjective হবে।

• Before conjunction যুক্ত sentence এ before এর পূর্বে past perfect tense হলে before এর পরে past indefinite হবে।
- যেহেতু প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যটিতে before এর পূর্বের clause টি past perfect tense এ আছে তাই এর পরের clause টিতে past indefinite tense হবে। 
- সুতরাং নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর - the rain started.
- Complete Sentence: I had reached home before the rain started.

• Neither .... nor দ্বারা দুইটা Noun/Pronoun যুক্ত হলে শেষের noun/pronoun অনুযায়ী verb বসে।
- যেহেতু প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যের শেষে his friends – plural noun আছে, তাই এখানে ‍are হবে।
- অন্যদিকে বাক্যটি Passive sentence এর মত অর্থ প্রকাশ করছে, তাই সঠিক উত্তর হবে are to be blamed.

• [Either/neither] + noun + [or/nor] + singular noun + singular verb.
- Neither the salesmen nor the marketing manager is in favor of the system.

• [Either/neither] + noun + [or/nor] + plural noun + plural verb.
- Neither John nor his friends are going to the beach today.

• সাধারণত male rabbit কে Buck rabbit বলা হয়। 
- এর feminine gender হচ্ছে - doe or hind.

• অন্যদিকে,
- Colt (বাচ্চা ঘোড়া হচ্ছে masculine gender.
- এর feminine gender হবে Filly (বাচ্চা ঘোটকী)
- Hart (পুরুষ হরিণ) এর feminine gender হবে Roe (স্ত্রী হরিণ)

• প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত অপশন গুলোর মধ্যে - Rupee হচ্ছে singular.
- এর plural হচ্ছে Rupees.

অন্য অপশনগুলোর মধ্যে - 
• Dogmata হচ্ছে plural, এর singular হচ্ছে Dogma.

- One of my friends is a politician.
- One of my friends is a lawyer.
- One of my friends is an engineer.
- One of the most beautiful girls has come.
- One of the problems is extremely easy to solve.

• কোন বাক্যের Verb + ing - এর পুর্বে the এবং পরে of থাকলে তাকে Verbal Noun বলে।
- The + verb+ing + of = verbal noun.
- Verbal Noun দ্বারা Noun এর কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়।
- নিয়মানুযায়ী The writing of a good letter is very different is the example of verbal noun
- কারণ, writing এর পূর্বে the ও পরে of বসেছে। 
- তাই একটি Verbal Noun

• শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে - up.
- কারণ অভিধানে খোঁজা অর্থে Look up ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Complete sentence: I shall look up the word in the Dictionary.

• অন্যদিকে, 
Look in - (on somebody) অল্পক্ষণের জন্য আসা।
Look on - বিবেচনা করা।
Look into -(something (ক) তদন্ত করা; পরীক্ষা করা।

• 'When i grow up, I will be your bride' is an example of - Complex sentence.
• Complex sentence- এ সাধারণত একটি প্রধান বাক্য (principal clause) এবং একাধিক নির্ভরশীল বাক্য (subordinate clause) থাকে।
- অর্থাৎ কমপক্ষে দুইটি subject এবং দুইটি finite verb থাকে।
- এছাড়াও Complex Sentence- এ That, Who, Whom, Whose, Which, What, As, because, since, for, as if, If, Though, Although, after, before, Where, When, While, How, that, So that, In order that, Till, Until, Lest, Unless, in case, Than ইত্যাদি দ্বারা একাধিক clause যুক্ত থাকে।
- তাই এটি একটি Complex sentence এর উদাহরণ।

• would rather অর্থ – বরং করব/বলব/যাব ইত্যাদি।
- would rather দিয়ে দুটি কাজের মধ্যে দ্বিতীয়টির চেয়ে প্রথমটি শ্রেয়, এ রকম বোঝায়।
- Would rather এর পরে Verb এর Present form হয়।
- সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর - would rather die.
- Structure: Sub + would rather + verb এর present form + than + verb/noun.
- Complete Sentence: I would rather die than let you go, said Juliet to Romeo.

• Interjection - 
- A  short sound, word or phrase spoken suddenly to express an emotion. Oh! Look out! and ow! are interjections.”
- বহুল ব্যবহৃত একটা Interjection হচ্ছে,  "Wow!" এর দ্বারা মূলত, বিস্ময়, উত্তেজনা, অবাক হওয়া ইত্যাদি বোঝানো হয়। 
- অতএব প্রদত্ত অশনগুলোর মধ্যে Surprise or Excitement  বোঝাতেই  "Wow!" ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Gainsay (verb transitive)

English Meaning: To refuse to accept something as the truth.
Bangla Meaning: (past tense, past participle gainsaid (সাহিত্যিক) প্রধানত' negative(ly) ও 'inter) অপলাপ/অস্বীকার/অপহ্নব করা; There is no gainsaying his skill as a negotiator.

Synonyms: Deny (অস্বীকার করা), Repudiate (নিজের বলে অস্বীকার করা), Contradict (অস্বীকার করা), Challenge (প্রত্যাখান করা), Dispute (বিবাদ করা)। 
Antonyms: Confirm (দৃঢ়ভাবে প্রতিপন্ন করা), Affirm (সত্যতা সমর্থন করা), Support (সমর্থন করা), Verify (যাচাই করা), Endorse (অনুমোদন করা)। 

Other Forms:
Gainsayer (noun).

• কিন্তু দুটি word থাকলে শেষের টি noun এবং পূর্বের টি Adjective এবং তিনটি শব্দ থাকলে শেষের টি noun এবং তার পূর্বের টি Adjective এবং Adjective এর পূর্বের টি Adverb হয়।

- উক্ত বাক্যে above শব্দটি lines (noun)টিকে qualify করায় above শব্দটি adjective.

অন্যদিকে,
• Our blessings come from above - above শব্দটি noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- উক্ত বাক্যে preposition from এর object হিসেবে above ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

• Look at the stars above বাক্যে above শব্দটি adverb হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- সাধারণত preposition এর পর সব সময় noun/pronoun বসে।
- তাই যদি কোনো sentence এর শেষে preposition বসে তবে তা সবসময় adverb হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়।

• The moral law is above the civil - বাক্যে above শব্দটি preposition হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- above শব্দটি the civil কে বাক্যের বাকি অংশের সাথে যুক্ত করছে, তাই এটি একটি preposition.

• সঠিক উত্তর হচ্ছে could fly.
- কারন sentence এর শুরুতে Would that  থাকলে subject এরপর could বসাতে হয় এবং এরপর verb এর present form হয়।
- প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত বাক্যটি Would that দিয়ে শুরু হয়েছে এবং এরপর subject হিসেবে 'I' আছে।
- তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী এরপর could বসাতে হবে এবং তারপর verb এর present form হবে।

• সুতরাং সঠিক বাক্যটি হচ্ছে - Would that I could fly in the sky.

• সঠিক উত্তর হলো - Compound conjunction.
- যে সকল phrase, conjunction হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে  Compound conjunction বলে।
- Examples: so that, provided that, as well as, as soon as, as long as, such that, in order that etc.
- তাছাড়া - 
- A compound conjunction may have two or three parts and they always go together. They are different from correlatives which are conjunctions used -only in pairs. Examples of correlatives are: either…or, neither…nor, not only…but also.

• Countable Noun (Nation) এর পূর্বে some বুঝাতে determiner হিসেবে only a few ব্যবহৃত হবে।
- কখনই only few or only little হয় না সব সময় only a few (countable noun) বা only a little (uncountable noun) হয়।
• Structure:
1. Only + a few/a few of + plural countable noun + plural verb + extension.
2. Only + a little/a little of + uncountable noun + singular verb + extension.

• কোনো কিছু ভাবা  যায় না বা চিন্তা করার প্রশ্নই উঠে না বোঝাতে let alone ব্যবহার হয়।
• সাধারণত negative sentence এর পরে  let alone ব্যবহার হয়।
- যেমন: 
- He does not even trust his children, let alone his neighbours.
- Some people never even read a newspaper, let alone a book.

Obviate (verb transitive)
English Meaning: To remove a difficulty, especially so that action to deal with it becomes unnecessary.
Bangla Meaning: ভারমুক্ত হওয়া; দূর করা; আগেই বুঝতে পেরে তদনুযায়ী কাজ করা: obviate difficulties.

Synonyms: Prevent (প্রতিরোধ/নিবারণ করা), Eliminate (বর্জন করা), Avert (এড়ানো), Prevent (প্রতিরোধ করা), Preclude (বর্জন করা)।
Antonyms: Further (এগিয়ে নেওয়া), Leave (কোনো স্থান ত্যাগ করে যাওয়া), Smooth (স্বচ্ছন্দ করা), Allow (অনুমোদন), Permit (অনুমতি), Sanction (অনুজ্ঞা)।

Other Forms: Obviation (noun).

Example Sentence: 
1. When it does become a reality, it is not expected to obviate the need for treatment.
2. The new medical treatment obviates the need for surgery.

• What/ which + Noun - এভাবে ব্যবহৃত হলে এদেরকে বলা হয় Interrogative adjective.
- What colour do you like most?
- Which man is your uncle?
- প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত which শব্দটি movie (noun)  কে modify করায় তা Interrogative Pronoun না হয়ে Interrogative Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

• Despite/ In spite of (সত্ত্বেও) দুটো preposition ই noun/noun phrase এর পূর্বে বসে।
- তবে Despite এর পর কখনো of বসে না।
- তাই নিয়মানুসারে শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে -  despite.
- Complete Sentence: Rajib managed to eat a big lunch despite having eaten an enormous breakfast.

• কোনো বাক্যে not only... but also থাকলে but also এর পরের Noun/ pronoun (his parents- plural) অনুযায়ী Verb বসবে।
- sense অনুযায়ী বাক্যটি Passive,
- তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর হবে - are held সঠিক হবে।
- Complete Sentence: Not only Kamran but also his parents are held responsible for this.

• শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে - abiding by.
 • abide by = মেনে চলা 
• abide with - কারো সাথে বাস করা 
• abide in - কোনো স্থানে বাস করা।

• cannot help - না করে না পারা
- cannot help এর পরের Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়। 
- তবে একই অর্থে cannot but এর পরে Verb এর base form বসে।
- তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর হবে - abiding by.
- Complete Sentence: We cannot help abiding by the rules and regulations of society.

• Gold (noun)-   স্বর্ণ; সোনা।
- এর Verb হচ্ছে gild - সোনার পাত বা সোনালি রং দিয়ে গিলটি করা; সোনার মতো উজ্জ্বল করা।
- golden (সোনালি) হচ্ছে Adjective.

• Gerundial Phrase: Verb+ing + Extension যদি Noun (Subject/ Object) এর কাজ করে তবে তাকে Gerundial Phrase বলে।
যেমন:

Adverbial Phrase:
- যে phrase বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় adverb এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Adverbial Phrase বলে ৷
- সাধারনত বাক্যকে কখন ( when), কোথায় ( where), কেন( why) ও কিভাবে (how) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটিই Advrbial phrase.

প্রদত্ত অপশনগুলোর মধ্যে একমাত্র ’ to run quickly’ Phrase টিই Adverbial Phrase হতে পারে।

সঠিক উত্তর হবে: Noun Phrase. 

- অধিকাংশ সময়ই, Noun phrase  মূলত: একটি Noun বা Pronoun এর কাজ করে। 
- তবে, প্রদত্ত বাক্যে Noun Phrase টি Object complement হিসেবে ভূমিকা পালন করছে। 

Noun phrase:
- A noun phrase consists of a pronoun or noun and any associated modifiers, including adjectives, adjective phrases, adjective clauses, and other nouns in the possessive case.

এছাড়া, অর্থ এবং বাক্যে অবস্থান অনুযায়ী Noun phrase বিভিন্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে । যেমন: 

- Subject হিসেবে।
- Object of a verb হিসেবে।
- Object of a preposition হিসেবে।

Understanding phrase: 
- A phrase is one or more words that form a meaningful grammatical unit within a clause. (Not a complete sentence though)
- দুই বা ততোধিক শব্দ মিলিয়ে সেই শব্দগুচ্ছটি যখন একটি নির্দিষ্ট  Parts of Speech এর অর্থ প্রকাশ করে, তখন তাকে Phrase বলে। 
- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে, ‍a great star এই তিনটি আলাদা শব্দ মিলিয়ে  Phrase গঠন করেছে। যার অর্থ, একজন বিখ্যাত তারকা। এটা একটা Noun phrase এর উদাহরণ। 

মনে রাখতে হবে, 
- Phrase কোন পূর্ণাঙ্গ বাক্য নয়। Phrase এ কোন Finite verb থাকে না,  কিংবা  Subject+verb structure টিও থাকে না। 
- কোন Phrase এ Noun এবং Verb একসাথে আসে না। Example: The red pen is karim's. এটা একটা Noun Phrase এর উদাহরণ। 

Types of Phrases: 
There are five main types of phrases in English, as below:
- Noun phrases. Ex: as a good friend// The tiny mouse. 
- Verb phrases. Ex: drives carefully // was reading    
- Adjective phrases. Ex: very cold and dark// very tall 
- Adverb phrases. Ex: quite slowly// Only occasionally 
- Prepositional phrases. Ex: in first place// on the table.

- A conjunctional phrase works as a conjunction in the sentence.
- কোন শব্দগুচ্ছ যদি একটিমাত্র Conjunction এর মত কাজ করে তাহলে তাকে Conjunctional Phrase বলে। যেমন- as well as, as soon as, as far as, along with, as much as etc.

Example:
- As soon as you got in, he went out.
- John started working early in order that he could finish early

সঠিক উত্তর হবে: Tamim is superior to Sakib in all respect. 

- সাধারণভাবে comparative degree এর পরে than বসে।
- তবে কতিপয় শব্দের পরে than না বসে to বসে।
- শব্দগুলো হলো: ‍senior, junior, inferior, superior, prior, ulterior, posterior ইত্যাদি।
- তাই উপরে comparative degree হওয়া সত্ত্বেও than না বসিয়ে to বসাতে হবে।

- Than most other/ than few other যুক্ত Comparative Degree কে Superlative Degree তে রূপান্তরের নিয়মঃ
- Structure:- Subject + Verb + one of the + Comparative Degree-এর Superlative form + most other/ few other এর পরের অংশ।

So, the correct answer is: Karachi is one of the oldest cities in Pakistan.

Active voice থেকে passive voice করার নিয়ম:

• Active voice এর object টি passive voice এর subject হয়।
• Tense অনুযায়ী auxiliary verb বসে।
• তারপর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
- Active voice এর subject টি passive voice এর object হয়।
- তার পূর্বে preposition (by, with, at, to, in) বসে।

প্রদত্ত প্রশ্নের সঠিক উত্তরটি হলো: Rats are killed by Cats.

Bag and baggage:
- English Meaning: with all one's belongings.
- Bangla Meaning: তল্পি তল্পা সহ / সবকিছু সহ।
- Ex. Sentence: He left the place bag and baggage.
- Bangla Meaning: সে তল্পিতল্পা সহ এ জায়গা থেকে চলে গিয়েছিলো।

• Phrase Preposition: কয়েকটি word গুচ্ছগতভাবে Preposition এর কাজ করে।
- যেমন - in front of, because of, according to ইত্যাদি। 
- Prepositional Phrase: Prepositional Phrase - Preposition দিয়ে শুরু হয়, কিন্তু Adjective Phrase বা Adverb Phrase এর মতো কাজ করে।
যেমন -
- A man of high intellect often feels lonely. (Prepositional Phrase/ Adjective Phrase)
- He is a man of great wealth. (Prepositional Phrase/ Adjective Phrase).
- He went there with a jolly mind. (Prepositional Phrase/ Adverb Phrase)
- They came in a body.   (Prepositional Phrase/ Adverb Phrase)

A clause must contain a subject and a verb. 

Clause:
- A clause is a part of a sentence.
- An expression including a subject and predicate functioning as a part of a complex sentence

Types of clauses: 
- There are two main types: independent (main clauses), and dependent (subordinate clauses).

Independent clauses 
- A clause in a complex sentence that can stand alone as a complete sentence.
In other words,
- An independent clause is a clause that can stand on its own as a distinct sentence.
Examples: 
- I love eating cookies.
- My dog barks a lot. 

Dependent clause.
- It needs an independent clause to finish or complete the sentence.   
Ex. When I got home, I ate dinner. 
- Dependent clauses are sometimes known as subordinate clauses. Example: When I grow up

- Superlative degree-এর পরের অংশ

- সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর হবে - Very few vices are as inhuman as anger.

Bath (noun) - স্নান; গোসল।
এর সাথে -e suffix যুক্ত হয়ে verb গঠন করে।

Bathe (verb) - পানিতে স্নান বা গোসল করানো; পানিতে চোবানো/ডোবানো/ভোজানো।

• It is time/It is high time থাকলে আর এর পর subject বসলে subject - এর পরের verb টি past form হয়।
