Inversion হলো এমন একটি বাক্যগঠন যেখানে Subject–Verb এর স্বাভাবিক ক্রম উল্টে যায়।
সাধারণত negative বা restrictive adverb (যেমন: rarely, never, hardly, seldom, little ইত্যাদি) বাক্যের শুরুতে এলে inversion হয়।

• Inversion of the verb
- প্রশ্ন করতে বা জোর প্রদান করতে বাক্যে subject এর পূর্বে verb ব্যবহৃত হওয়াকে Inversion of verb বলে।

• Negative inversion এর ক্ষেত্রে,
- Negative adverb+ Auxiliary verb +Subject+ Principal verb + Extension.
- Negative adverb গুলো হচ্ছে Hardly, Barely, Scarcely, Rarely, Seldom, Very seldom, Never, Never again, Never before, No sooner, No where, Neither, Nor, Little (negative) ইত্যাদি।

• Example sentence:
- No where will you find such a country. 
- Seldom do we have goods returned to us because they are faulty.

- এটি স্বাভাবিক বাক্য (Subject + Adverb + Verb).
- Inversion নেই।

খ) Rarely he goes out at night.

গ) Rarely does he go out at night. 
- এখানে Rarely + Auxiliary (does) + Subject (he) + Main verb (go).
- Subject–Verb এর ক্রম উল্টে গেছে। 
- এটাই সঠিক Inversion sentence.

ঘ) He does rarely go out at night.
- এখানে emphasis বোঝানো হয়েছে।
- কিন্তু Subject আগে আছে, inversion নয়।

He almost missed the bus. Here, 'almost' is - Adverb of degree.
- almost বোঝাচ্ছে যে সে প্রায় বাসটি মিস করতে বসেছিল, কিন্তু পুরোপুরি নয়।
- এটি মূলত verb এর পরিমাণ বা মাত্রা প্রকাশ করছে → তাই এটি Adverb of degree.

• Adverb of degree:
- এই ধরনের adverb কতোখানি, কি মাত্রায় এসব বোঝায়।

- Example: Almost, quite, very, much, fully, partly, wholly, completely, strongly, totally, entirely, deeply, greatly, poorly, half, enough, somewhat, altogether, too, little, a little, rather.

Incongruous:
English meaning: unusual or different from what is around or from what is generally happening.
Bangla meaning: অসমঞ্জস্য; সামঞ্জস্যহীন; সঙ্গতিবিহীন।

• Adverb of Reason or Purpose
- কোন কাজের কারণ বা উদ্দেশ্য বোঝাতে Adverb of Reason or Purpose হয়।
- এধরণের Adverb-গুলি হলো: Hence, therefore, so, so that ইত্যাদি।

- He therefore left the school.
- He is hence unable to deny it.
- He is ill so he cannot go to school.
- He works hard so that he can succeed.

Bangla Meaning: (১) আলোকোজ্জ্বল; উজ্জ্বল: luminous paint. (২) (লাক্ষণিক) স্পষ্ট; সহজবোধ্য।

Adventitious:
English meaning: not expected or planned.

Greens : Green → সম্ভব, কিন্তু “greens” অনেক সময় আলাদা noun অর্থে ব্যবহার হয় (যেমন শাক-সবজি), তাই একদম singular-plural সম্পর্ক না।
