• The correct sentence: A number of boys were playing football. (অপশন 'ঘ')

• A number of এর পরে Noun ও Verb দুইটাই Plural হয়।
- কারণ a number of একটি Plural Determiner যার অর্থ হচ্ছে কিছু সংখ্যক।
- এবং এর পরের Noun টি Head-word হয় এবং সে অনুযায়ী Verb বসে।

• Adverbial Phrase:
- যে phrase বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় adverb এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Adverbial Phrase বলে ৷
- সাধারনত বাক্যকে কখন ( when), কোথায় ( where), কেন( why) ও কিভাবে (how) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটি Advrbial phrase.

• Phrasal Verb:

Bangla Meaning: (আনুষ্ঠানিক) ক্রোধ উপশমের জন্য কিছু করা; প্রসাদিত/প্রসন্ন করা: offer sacrifice to propitiate the gods.

Synonyms: Placate (শান্ত/আশ্বস্ত করা), Mollify (শান্ত/প্রশমিত করা), Satisfy (সন্তুষ্ট), Appease (পরিতুষ্ট করা), Assuage ( আশ্বাস দেয়া)।

- যে phrase বা শব্দগুচ্ছ noun এর কাজ করে তাকেই Noun phrase বলে।

• শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে - by.
- Complete sentence: The students will reach there by 11 pm.

• Preposition এর নিয়মানুযায়ী, 

• নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে (Point of time)  বোঝালে time এর পূর্বে by/before বসে।
- যেমন - I will reach there by 5 pm.

• যথা সময়ের / সময়ের মধ্যে (Period of time) বোঝালে time এর পূর্বে in বসে।
- যেমন - You should go to school in time.
- I will go there within/in 3 hours.

• Complete Sentence: Not only the mayor but also the city council members were involved in planning the event.
- এখানে but also এর আগের অংশ বাদ যাবে অর্থাৎ শুন্যস্থানের verb এর অনুসারে বসবে না।
- but also এর পরের subject অনুসারে verb বসবে।
- যেহেতু plural আছে তাই verb ও plural হবে, তাই এখানে are/were বসবে।

• যদি দুটো Subject Or (অথবা/নতুবা), But (কিন্তু/ছাড়া), Either .....or....(দুইয়ের মধ্যে একজন), Neither... Nor (দুইয়ের মধ্যে একজন ও না), Not only.....but also (কেবল এটিই নয় সেটিও)] এই পাঁচটির যে কোন একটি দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়, তাহলে শেষের Subject অনুযায়ী verb বসবে এবং আগের অংশ বাদ দিতে হবে।

- Here 'therefore' is a - Conjunctional phrase.

- এই বাক্যে 'therefore' দুইটি Sentence "Maksud worked the whole night" ও "he could not come to the meeting on time" এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপনের জন্য Conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। 
- তাই এটি Conjunctional phrase.

• Conjunctional phrase:
- A conjunctional phrase conducts the function of the conjunction.
- যখন কোন phrase বা শব্দ সমষ্টি একটি বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে Conjunction এর কাজ করে তখন তাকে Conjunctional phrase বলে।
- Parts of Speech এর যে Word গুলো দুই বা ততোধিক word, phrase, clause বা sentence কে যুক্ত করে তাকে Conjunction বলে। 
- দুইটি Sentence এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপনের জন্য Conjunction ব্যবহৃত হয়।
-  as much as, as long as, as soon as, as well as, along with, together with, therefore, either-or, neither-nor, not only- but also ইত্যাদি Conjunctional phrase.

• সাধারণত ভগ্নাংশের ক্ষেত্রে প্রথমটি One এর বেশি হলে দ্বিতীয়টির সঙ্গে 's' যোগ হয় (যেমন- Two-thirds).
- কিন্তু প্রথমটি One হলে দ্বিতীয়টির সঙ্গে 's' যোগ হয় না  (যেমন- One-third)।
- আবার সব ধরনের ভগ্নাংশের পরে noun - singular হলে verb - singular এবং noun - plural হলে verb - plural হয়।

Incorrect: Two-third of the orange are rotten.
Correct: Two-thirds of the mango is rotten. (কমলাটির দুই-তৃতীয়াংশ পঁচা।)

Incorrect: One-thirds of the oranges is rotten.
