• Prepositional Phrase:
- যে Phrase – Preposition দিয়ে শুরু হয়, কিন্তু Adjective বা Adverb এর কাজ করে, তাকে Prepositional Phrase বলে।
- এখানে on the left- Phrase-টি  on - Preposition দিয়ে শুরু হয়েছে এবং কোথায় অবস্থিত সেটি নির্দেশ করেছে, অর্থাৎ, adverb of place হয়েছে।
- তাই এটি একটি Prepositional Phrase.

• Propitiate (Verb transitive)

English Meaning: To please and make calm a god or person who is annoyed with you.
Bangla Meaning: (আনুষ্ঠানিক) ক্রোধ উপশমের জন্য কিছু করা; প্রসাদিত/প্রসন্ন করা: offer sacrifice to propitiate the gods.

Synonyms: Placate (শান্ত/আশ্বস্ত করা), Mollify (শান্ত/প্রশমিত করা), Satisfy (সন্তুষ্ট), Appease (পরিতুষ্ট করা), Assuage ( আশ্বাস দেয়া)।
Antonyms: Anger (রাগানো), Enrage (ক্রুদ্ধ করা), Incense (ক্রুদ্ধ/কোপান্বিত/প্রকোপিত করা), Infuriate (রাগান্বিত করা), Outrage (ক্ষুব্ধ হওয়া)।

• সাধারণত, The number of যুক্ত বাক্যের গঠন হচ্ছে - 
• Structure: The Number of + Plural Noun + Singular Verb. But, A number of + plural Noun + plural verb.

• যেহেতু প্রশ্ন প্রদত্ত বাক্যে - The Number of আছে তাই Verb‌ হবে singular is এবং noun টি হবে plural.
- নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর -  is.
- Complete sentence: The number of books in the library is constantly expanding.

•They have been studying for the exam all night. Here 'have been studying' is a - Verb phrase.
• Verb Phrase:
- যে phrase - verb এর কাজ করে সেটি Verb Phrase.
-A verb phrase consists of a main verb alone, or a main verb plus any modal and/or auxiliary verbs.
- The main verb always comes last in the verb phrase

• অন্যদিকে,
• Phrasal Verb:
- বাক্যে Verb + preposition/adverb থাকলে সেটা Phrasal Verb হয়।
- যেমন - look down upon, give up, look after.
- তাই এখানে Phrasal Verb (verb + preposition) হচ্ছে phrasal verb.

• Along with, as well as, together with, including, addition to, accompanied by ইত্যাদি দ্বারা দুইটি subject যুক্ত হলে verb হবে প্রথম subject অনুযায়ী। 
- এখানে Akash এবং his family  দুটি accompanied by দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়েছে।
- প্রথম subject Akash  বিধায় verb টি singular হবে।

Obsequious (adjective)

English Meaning: Too eager to serve or obey someone.
Bangla Meaning: আজ্ঞাবহ; বশংবদ; (বিশেষত সুবিধাদির প্রত্যাশায়) মাত্রাতিরিক্ত শ্রদ্ধা প্রদর্শনকারী।

Synonyms: Servile (ক্রীতদাসসুলভ; বশংবদ), Unctuous (তোষামোদপূর্ণ), Fawning (সেবকোচিত), Bootlicking (চাটুকারীতাপূর্ণ তেলবাজ ইত্যাদি), Slavish (দাস সুলভ)।
Antonyms: Domineering (প্রভুত্বব্যঞ্জক; দাম্ভিক), Unservile (উদ্ধত), Arrogant (অহংকারী), Assertive (দৃঢ়প্রত্যয়ী), Confident (আত্মবিশ্বাসী)। 

Other Forms: 
- Obsequiously (adverb).
- Obsequiousness (noun).

• on/upon - অদৃশ্যভাবে কোনো কিছুর দায়িত্ব বা কোন কিছু উপরে এসে পড়া বোঝাতে on/upon ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• দুইটি জিনিসর মধ্যে তুলনা বুঝাতে between এবং 
- দুইয়ের অধিক বোঝাতে / তুলনা করতে among বসে।
- যেমন:
- Distribute these mangoes between Arif and Babu.
- Bangladesh will win among 30 countries.

• স্বতন্ত্র কোনো জিনিসের মধ্যে একটি বেছে নেয়া বা তুলনা করা বোঝাতে অর্থাৎ, গ্রুপ হিসেবে না বোঝালে তখন between ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Bangla Meaning: তীব্রতা, প্রচণ্ডতা বা বেদনা হ্রাস করা; উপশমিত করা।

Synonyms: Reduce (কমানো; হ্রাস করা), Soothe (শান্ত বা প্রশমিত করা), Relieve (স্বস্তি দেওয়া), Extenuate (গুরুত্ব হ্রাস করা), Palliate (প্রশমন করা)। 
Antonyms: Aggravate (প্রকোপ অধিকতর বৃদ্ধি করা), Increase (বাড়া বা বাড়ানো), Intensify (তীব্রতর/গাঢ়তর/তীক্ষ্ণতর করা বা হওয়া), Enhance (বৃদ্ধি করা বা বাড়ানো), Raise (ওঠানো)।

Other Forms:
- Mitigating circumstances প্রমাদ, অপরাধ ইত্যাদি কম গুরুতররূপে প্রতিপন্ন করা; উপশমিত পরিস্থিতি।
- Mitigation [মিটিগেইশ্‌ন্] (noun) [uncountable noun] উপশম; নিবৃত্তি।

• শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে - with.

• Preposition এর নিয়মানুসারে,
- অনুসারে/ মতানুসারে ইত্যাদি অর্থ প্রকাশে according to বা accordance with অথবা after ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• The girl, from India, has been chosen as the Vice President. Here 'from India' is an - Adjective phrase.
• Noun এর পর যদি কোন clause/Phrase বসে তাহলে সেটি Adjective clause/Phrase হবে।

• এখানে underlined phrased টি  noun ‘The girl' কে modify করায় এটি Adjective phrase.

• সাধারণত ভগ্নাংশের ক্ষেত্রে প্রথমটি One এর বেশি হলে দ্বিতীয়টির সঙ্গে 's' যোগ হয় (যেমন- Two-thirds).
- কিন্তু প্রথমটি One হলে দ্বিতীয়টির সঙ্গে 's' যোগ হয় না  (যেমন- One-third)।
- আবার সব ধরনের ভগ্নাংশের পরে noun - singular হলে verb - singular এবং noun - plural হলে verb - plural হয়।
- তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী  One-third of the mangoes are rotten - correct sentence।

Inc: Two-third of the mango are rotten.
Cor: Two-thirds of the mango is rotten. (আমটির দুই-তৃতীয়াংশ পঁচা।)

Inc: One-thirds of the mangoes is rotten.
Cor: One-third of the mangoes are rotten. (আমগুলোর এক-তৃতীয়াংশ পঁচা)

• Adverbial Phrase:
- যে phrase বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় adverb এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Adverbial Phrase বলে ৷
- সাধারনত বাক্যকে কখন ( when), কোথায় ( where), কেন( why) ও কিভাবে (how) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটিই Advrbial phrase.

• যে phrase দ্বারা manner বুঝায় সেটি Adverbial phrase of manner.
যেমন : with great care, with ardent spirit, with great devotion, with great interest, with great sincerity, with great eagerness etc.
- The artist painted the masterpiece with great devotion; এই বাক্যে 'with great devotion' দ্বারা manner প্রকাশ করায় এটি একটি Adverbial phrase.

• সঠিক বাক্যটি হচ্ছে - A number of employees were working late to meet the deadline.

• A number of এর পরে Noun ও Verb দুইটাই Plural হয়।
- কারণ a number of একটি Plural Determiner যার অর্থ হচ্ছে কিছু সংখ্যক।
- এবং এর পরের Noun টি Head-word হয় এবং সে অনুযায়ী Verb বসে।

যেমন - 
- A number of boys were flying kites.
- A number of problems prevail on his way to success.

• A compassionate teacher is a pillar of the education system. Here the underlined part is a - Noun phrase.
- - এখানে বাক্যের subject হিসেবে কাজ করেছে বিধায় উক্ত phrase টি noun phrase.

• Noun phrase: 
- A noun phrase consists of a pronoun or noun and any associated modifiers, including adjectives, adjective phrases, adjective clauses and other nouns in the possessive case.
- অধিকাংশ সময়ই, Noun phrase  মূলত: একটি Noun বা Pronoun এর কাজ করে। 

• এছাড়া, অর্থ এবং বাক্যে অবস্থান অনুযায়ী Noun phrase বিভিন্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে ।
- যেমন: 
- Subject হিসেবে - Small children often insist that they can do things by themselves.
- Object of a verb হিসেবে-  To type quickly and accurately is Eugene’s goal.
- Object of a preposition হিসেবে - The Arctic explorers were caught unawares by the spring breakup.
- Subject complement হিসেবে - Frankenstein is the name of the scientist, not the monster.
- Object complement হিসেবে -  I consider Loki my favorite cat.
