একটি পাইপ চৌবাচ্চা পূর্ণ করতে পারে ২ ঘণ্টায় বা ১২০ মিনিটে  
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/১২০ অংশ 

একটি ছিদ্র থাকায় তা পূর্ণ করতে পারে ১৪০ মিনিটে 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ হয় ১/১৪০ মিনিটে 

ছিদ্র দিয়ে ১ মিনিটে খালি হয় = (১/১২০) - (১/১৪০)
= (৭ - ৬)/৮৪০
= ১/৮৪০ অংশ 

সম্পূর্ণ অংশ খালি করতে সময় লাগে = ১/১/৮৪০ মিনিট 
= ৮৪০ মিনিটে 
= ৮৪০/৬০ ঘণ্টায় 
= ১৪ ঘণ্টায় 

Question:  Two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 6 hours and 4 hours respectively. If they are opened on alternate hours and if pipe A is opened first, then the tank shall be filled in:

Solution: 
নল A ৬ ঘণ্টায় করে ১ অংশ 
১ ঘণ্টায় করে ১/৬ অংশ 

নল B ৪ ঘণ্টায় করে ১ অংশ 
১ ঘণ্টায় করে ১/৪ অংশ 

প্রথম ঘণ্টায় নল A, ২য় ঘণ্টায় নল B এভাবে ক্রমান্বয়ে নলগুলো কাজ করে। 

দুটি নল একসাথে ২ ঘণ্টায় করে (১/৬) + (১/৪) অংশ 
= ৫/১২ অংশ 

৪ ঘণ্টায় করে ১০/১২ অংশ 

বাকি থাকে ১ - ১০/১২
= ১/৬ অংশ ; যা নল A ১ ঘন্টায় সম্পূর্ণ করে। 

সময় লাগবে = ৪ + ১ ঘণ্টা
= ৫ ঘণ্টা 

Question: A alone can do a piece of work in 6 days and B alone in 8 days. A and B undertook to do it for 3200 Tk. With the help of C they completed the work in 3 days. How much is to be paid to C?

Solution:
A ১ দিনে করে ১/৬ অংশ 
B ১ দিনে করে ১/৮ অংশ 

A, B, C ১ দিনে করে ১/৩ অংশ কাজ 

C ১ দিনে করে (১/৩) - (১/৬) - (১/৮)
= ১/২৪ অংশ 

তাদের কাজের অংশের অনুপাত = (১/৬) : (১/৮) : (১/২৪)
= ৪ : ৩ : ১ 

C পাবে = ৩২০০ × ১/(৪ + ৩ + ১)
= ৩২০০/৮ 
= ৪০০ টাকা 

Question: A tank can be filled by pipe A in 2 hours and pipe B in 6 hours. At 10 A.M. pipe A was opened. At what time will the tank be filled if pipe B is opened at 11 A.M.?
 
Solution: 
A ২ ঘণ্টায় পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ ঘণ্টায় পূর্ণ করে ১/২ অংশ 

বাকি থাকে (১ - ১/২) অংশ 
= ১/২ অংশ ; যা A, B একসাথে সম্পন্ন করে। 

B ৬ ঘণ্টায় করে ১ অংশ কাজ 
১ ঘণ্টায় করে ১/৬ অংশ কাজ 

A, B ১ ঘণ্টায় করে (১/৬) + (১/২) অংশ 
= ৪/৬ অংশ
= ২/৩ অংশ

A, B ২/৩ অংশ পূর্ণ করে ১ ঘণ্টায় 
১/২ অংশ পূর্ণ করে ৩/(২ × ২)
= ৩/৪ ঘণ্টায় 

মোট সময় = ১ + (৩/৪) = ৭/৪ ঘন্টা = ১ ঘণ্টা ৪৫ মিনিট 
∴ ট্যাঙ্ক পূর্ণ হবে = ১০ টা + ১ ঘণ্টা ৪৫ মিনিট 
= ১১ টা ৪৫ মিনিট  

Question: If Aman and Bijoy together can complete a piece of work in 15 days and Bijoy alone in 20 days, in how many days can Aman alone complete the work?

Solution: 
Aman and Bijoy together can complete a piece of work in 15 days
Aman and Bijoy together can complete in 1 day = 1/15 

Bijoy alone in 20 days
Bijoy alone in one day = 1/20

Aman complete in one day = (1/15) - (1/20)
= (4 - 3)/60
= 1/60

Aman can complete the work in 60 days

Question: An air conditioner can cool the hall in 40 miutes while another takes 60 minutes to cool under similar conditions. If both air conditioners are switched on at same instance then how long will it take to cool the room?

৪০ মিনিটে ঠান্ডা হয় সম্পূর্ণ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ হয় ১/৪০ অংশ 

৬০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ হয় সম্পূর্ণ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ হয় ১/৬০ অংশ  

দুটি মিলে পূর্ণ হয় ১/৪০ + ১/৬০ 
= ৩ + ২ / ১২০
= ৫/১২০ মিনিট 
= ১/২৪ মিনিট 

সম্পূর্ণ অংশ ঠান্ডা হতে সময় লাগে ২৪ মিনিট। 

Question: An outlet pipe can empty a cistern in 3 hours. In what time will it empty 2/3 part of the cistern? 

Solution: 
সম্পূর্ণ অংশ খালি করতে সময় লাগে ৩ ঘণ্টা 
২/৩ অংশ খালি করতে সময় লাগে ৩ × ২/৩ ঘণ্টা 
= ২ ঘণ্টা  

Question: A large tanker can be filled by two pipes A and B in 60 and 40 minutes respectively. How many minutes will it take to fill the tanker from empty state if B is used for half the time and A and B fill it together for the other half ?

Solution:
A ৬০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/৬০ অংশ 

B ৪০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/৪০ অংশ 

A,B একসাথে ১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/৬০ + ১/৪০ 
= ৫/১২০ 
= ১/২৪ অংশ 

ধরি, সময় লাগে x মিনিট 

B ৪০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/৪০ অংশ
x/২ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে x/৮০ অংশ 

A,B একসাথে ১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/২৪ অংশ 
x/২ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে x/৪৮ অংশ 

x/৮০ + x/৪৮ = ১
⇒ ৩x + ৫x / ২৪০ = ১
⇒ ৮x = ২৪০ 
∴ x = ৩০ মিনিট 

Question: A works twice as fast as B. If B can complete a work in 12 days immediately, the number of days in which A and B can together finish the work- 

Solution:
B can complete a work in 12 days
So, A can complete the work in 6 days  

(A + B)'s 1 days work = (1/6 + 1/12) = 1/4 part
So, (A + B) can complete the work in 4 days

Question: 10 buckets of water fill a tank when the capacity of each bucket is 12 litres. How many buckets will be needed to fill the same tank, if the capacity of each bucket is 6 litres?

Solution:
Capacity of the tank
= ( 10 × 12 ) litres
= 120 litres

Capacity of each bucket = 6 litres
Number of buckets needed
= ( 120/6 )
= 20

Question: Piyal can complete a work in 10 days working 8 hours a day. Sajid can complete the same work in 8 days working 10 hours a day. If both piyal and sajid work together,working 8 hours a day,in how many days can they complete the work?

Solution: 
পিয়াল প্রতিদিন ৮ ঘণ্টা করে কাজ করে, ১০ দিনে একটি কাজ করতে পারে।
মোট ঘণ্টা = ১০ × ৮ ঘণ্টা 
= ৮০ ঘণ্টা 

সাজিদ প্রতিদিন ১০ ঘণ্টা করে ৮ দিনে একটি কাজ করতে পারে। 
মোট ঘণ্টা = ১০ × ৮ ঘণ্টা 
= ৮০ ঘণ্টা 

দুইজন একসাথে এক ঘণ্টায় করতে পারে = (১/৮০) + (১/৮০) অংশ 
= ২/৮০ অংশ 
= ১/৪০ অংশ 

সম্পূর্ণ অংশ করতে সময় লাগে = ৪০ ঘণ্টা 

দৈনিক ৮ ঘণাট করে কাজ করলে, সময় লাগে = ৪০/৮ দিন 
= ৫ দিন 

Question: A cistern can be filled by two pipes in 20 and 30 minutes respectively. Both pipes being opened, when the first pipe must be turned off so that the cistern may be filled in 10 minutes more?

Solution: 
ধরি, নল A, x মিনিট পর বন্ধ করতে হবে। 

A নল, 
২০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/২০ অংশ 

B নল, 
৩০ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১ অংশ 
১ মিনিটে পূর্ণ করে ১/৩০ অংশ 

দুইটি নল একসাথে ১ মিনিটে  সম্পূর্ণ করে = ১/২০ + ১/৩০ অংশ 
= ৫/ ৬০ অংশ 
= ১/১২ অংশ 

সম্পূর্ণ অংশ শেষ করতে সময় লাগে ১২ মিনিট 
১০ মিনিট বেশীতে, মোট সময় = ১২ + ১০ মিনিট 
= ২২ মিনিট 

দুইটি নল একসাথে x মিনিটে  সম্পূর্ণ করে = x/১২ অংশ 

বাকি থাকে, ১ - x/১২ অংশ 
= ১২ - x/১২ অংশ 

১২ - x/১২ অংশ নল B পূর্ণ করে ২২ - x মিনিটে 
১ অংশ পূর্ণ করতে সময় লাগে {(২২ - x) × ১২}/{১২ - x} মিনিট 

এখন
(২২ - x)× ১২/১২ - x = ৩০ 
⇒ ২৬৪ - ১২x = ৩৬০ - ৩০x
⇒ - ১২x + ৩০X = ২৬৪ - ১২০ 
⇒ ১৮x = ১৪৪
∴ x = ১৪৪/১৮ 
= ৮ মিনিট 

Question:  Akash can do a piece of work in 30 days. He works at it for 6 days and then Rakib finishes it in 18 days. In what time can Akash and Rakib together finish the work?

Solution: 
আকাশ ৩০ দিনে করে সম্পূর্ণ অংশ 
১ দিনে করে ১/৩০ অংশ 
৬ দিনে করে ৬/৩০ অংশ 
= ১/৫ অংশ 

বাকি থাকে ১ - ১/৫ অংশ 
= ৪/৫ অংশ 

রাকিব ১৮ দিনে করে ৪/৫ অংশ 
১ দিনে করে ২/৪৫ অংশ 

রাকিব ও আকাশ ১ দিনে করে (১/৩০) + (২/৪৫) অংশ 
= (৩ + ৪)/৯০ 
= ৭/৯০ 

সম্পুর্ণ কাজ করতে সময় লাগে = ৯০/৭ দিন

Question: Aman takes twice as much as Bimol or thrice as much time as Rafi to finish a piece of work. Working together, they can finish the work in 3 days. Aman can do the work alone in -

Solution:
Let, Aman, Bimol, and Rafi take 6x, 6x/2 = 3x, and 6x/3 = 2x respectively.

Now, 
(1/6x) + (1/3x) + (1/2x) = 1/3
⇒ 6/6x = 1/3
⇒ 1/x = 1/3
⇒ x = 3

So, Aman takes = 6 × 3 = 18 days

Question: When Rakib, Piyash and Niloy complete  a task, Rakib and Piyash together do 70% of the work and Piyash and Niloy together do 50% of the work. who is the most efficient?

Solution: 
রাকিব, পিয়াস একসাথে ৭০% কাজ করে।
পিয়াস,  নিলয় একসাথে করে ৫০%
রাকিব, পিয়াস ও নিলয় মিলে করে ১০০% কাজ 

পিয়াস করে = ৭০% + ৫০% - ১০০% কাজ 
= ২০% লাজ 

নিলয় করে  = ৫০% - ২০% 
= ৩০%

রাকিব করে = ৭০% - ২০% 
= ৫০% 

অর্থাৎ, রাকিব সবচেয়ে দক্ষ। 

Question: Two pipes P and Q, when opened alone can fill the tank in 20 and 30 hours respectively. If both pipes are opened together, then in how many hours will the tank be filled?

Solution: 
Part of tank filled by pipe P in 1 hour = 1/20
Part of tank filled by pipe Q in 1 hour = 1/30

Tank filled by both pipes in 1 hour = (1/20) + (1/30)
= (5/60)
= 1/12

∴ Complete tank will be filled by both in 1/(1/12) hours
= 12 hours
