• Present participle যুক্ত Simple sentence কে complex sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার নিয়ম:
• Structure: Present participle এর পর বাকী অংশটি যে tense  এ থাকে,  Present participle এর অংশকেও একই tense এ গঠন করতে হয় একই subject দিয়ে।
- দু বাক্যের মাঝে comma বসে।
- প্রথম sentence এর প্রথমে since/ as/ when বসে।

- সময় বোঝালে when বসে।
- Simple: Finishing the lunch, the clerk went back to office.
- complex: When the clerk finished the lunch, he went back to office.
- এ বাক্যে Present participle এর পর বাকী অংশটি past indifinite tense এ রয়েছে।
- তাই বাক্যের প্রথমে When বসবে ।
- এরপর Present participle এর অংশ সহ পুরো বাক্য past indifinite tense এ গঠিত হবে।

• Assertive sentence এ nothing থাকলে Interrogative sentence এ any thing ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Assertive: You know nothing about it.
- Interrogative: Do you know anything about it?
- এ বাক্যটি যেহেতু present indifinite tense এ গঠিত হয়েছে
- সেক্ষেত্রে Interrogative sentence এ বাক্যটি গঠন করার ক্ষেত্রে 
- সাহায্যকারী verb হিসেবে do/ does ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- পরবর্তীতে মূল verb এর পর nothing এর পরিবর্তে anything বসেছে।

• Must/ ought to/ should যুক্ত Direct Speech কে Indirect Speech এ পরিবর্তন করার নিয়ম:
- Must/ ought to/ should এই জাতীয় modal auxiliary গুলোর কোনো পরিবর্তন হবেনা।
- কখনোও কখনোও Must এর পরিবর্তে had to বসে।
- should এর জায়গায় subject এর person অনুযায়ী would বসে।
- Reported speech এর person সর্বদা Reported verb এর number, gender এবং person অনুযায়ী বসে।
- Direct: She said, 'We ought to go.'
- Indirect: She said that they ought to go.
- Reporting verb এর পর linker হিসাবে that বসবে।
- গঠন অনুসারে উপরের বাক্যে  Reported speech এ we হচ্ছে 1st person.
- তাই Indirect Speech এ তা পরিবর্তিত হয়ে হবে they.
- এরপর modal auxiliary হিসেবে ought to অপরিবর্তিত থাকবে।

• Direct to Indirect speech without changing tense:
