Neither .... nor দ্বারা দুইটা Noun/Pronoun যুক্ত হলে শেষেরটা অনুযায়ী verb বসে। যেহেতু শেষের অংশে his friends – Plural Noun আছে, তাই এখানে ‍are হবে।
আর বাক্যটি Passive ধারণা দিচ্ছে, তাই এখানে had বসালে sentence টি structure-গত দিক থেকে ভুল হবে।

• [Either/neither] + noun + [or/nor] + singular noun + singular verb.
- Neither the salesmen nor the marketing manager is in favor of the system.

• [Either/neither] + noun + [or/nor] + plural noun + plural verb.
- Neither Rahi nor his friends are qualified for the job.

• Either and neither are singular if they are not used with or and nor.
- If either of you takes a vacation now, we will not be able to finish the work.

Each/ every যুক্ত দুইটি Noun/ Pronoun যদি and দিয়ে যুক্ত হয় তবুও Verb Singular ই বসে।
কারণ এগুলো হচ্ছে distributive pronoun যা প্রত্যেককে আলাদা করে বুঝায়।
তাই, এখানে verb এর সাথে 's' যুক্ত হবে। 
সুতরাং, সঠিক বাক্য হবে - ক) Each boy and each girl in this class wins a prize.

ঘ) অপশনে each boys and each girls লিখা হয়েছে যা ভুল। Distributive adjective এর পর noun/proun - singular বসাতে হবে।

In / By fits and starts
English Meaning: with irregular bursts of activity / in an impulsive and irregular manner.
Bangla Meaning: অনিয়মিত ভাবে ঘটা    

Ex. Sentence: If you study by fits and starts you will make no progress.
Bangla Meaning: তুমি অনিয়মিত অধ্যয়ন করলে কোনো অগ্রগতি লাভ করতে পারবে না।

for a week – Period of Time থাকায় বুঝা যায় এটা Perfect Continuous Tense হবে।
কিন্তু মূল verb – ‘be’ verb হলে সেক্ষেত্রে Perfect Tense হয়, Perfect Continuous Tense হয় না।
তাই শূন্যস্থানে has been বসবে।

Present + as if/as though + Past Indefinite
আর as if/as though + Past Indefinite এ ‘be’ verb আসলে তা সব সময় were হবে।
সে অনুসারে সঠিক বাক্য - Rishan walks as if he were lame.

উল্লেখ্য
Past Indefinite + as if/as though + Past Perfect. 
যেমন: Rishan walked as if he had been lame.

Structure of conditional sentence:
• Zero Conditional = If + Present + Present (shows scientific and general truth)
• 1st Conditional = If + Present + Future
• 2nd Conditional = If + Past Simple + Future in Past (S + would/might/could + Base Form of the Verb)
• 3rd Conditional = If + Past Perfect (had +V3) + Perfect Modal (S + would have/could have/might have + V3)

Sentence টি Perfect conditional/ 3rd conditional.
পরের অংশে যেহেতু would have gone দেয়া আছে তাই আগের অংশে If clause- এ had + V₃ হবে।
অর্থাৎ, প্রথম অংশে - If I had known you were coming বসবে।

It is time এর পর Subject থাকলে Verb - টি Past Tense এর হয়।
আর subject না থাকলে to + Verb হয়।
যেমন:
- It is time we discussed the matter.
- It is time to do the work.

Persist, excel, assist, succeed, indulge, right/correct, mistake ইত্যাদি শব্দের পরে সাধারণত in + Gerund (Verb + ing) বসে যেমন - 

Inc : I succeeded to solve the problem. 
Cor: I succeeded in solving the problem.

Inc : None should indulge to gamble.
Cor: None should indulge in gambling.

Inc : He was mistaken to think so.
Cor: He was mistaken in thinking so.

Insist on/upon - কোনো কিছুতে জোর দেয়া।
Insist on/upon এর সাথে verb এর ing form বসে।

Persist in something/in doing something - যুক্তি, ব্যর্থতা বা বিরোধিতা সত্ত্বেও কোনো বিষয়ে নিজস্ব অভিমত বজায় রাখা; নাছোড়বান্দার মতো অটল থাকা।

সে অনুসারে correct senetence: ক) I insisted on his leaving the job but he persisted in it.

• Neuter Gender Singular হলে সেক্ষেত্রে it, এবং Plural হলে they বসে।
ছোট শিশুকেও Neuter Gender এর মত ব্যবহার করা হয়, কারণ অচেতন পদার্থের মত শিশুরও বোধশক্তি নেই।
যেমন - The baby is crying for its mother.

• তবে Neuter Gender হলেও দেশ, নদী, জাহাজ ইত্যাদির ক্ষেত্রে Feminine Gender (She) ব্যবহৃত হয় - The Titanic went down with her crew.

• Common Noun (যেমন - Mother, King ইত্যাদি) যদি Abstract Noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন এটা neuter gender হিসেবে গণ্য হয়।
যেমন - The mother rose in her and it led her to take the little baby in her lap.
এখানে Mother বলতে মাতৃত্ব বুঝাচ্ছে, মা নয়। তাই এর পরিবর্তে Pronoun – it বসবে।

দুই বা ততোধিক Noun ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ব্যক্তি, প্রাণি বা বস্তুকে বোঝালে প্রতিটি Noun এর পূর্বে Article বসে।
তবে একই ব্যক্তি, প্রাণি বা বস্তুকে বোঝালে শুধু প্রথম Noun এর পূর্বে Article বসে।

অর্থাৎ, A black and white cow বললে বুঝাবে একটি সাদা-কালো রং মিশ্রিত গরু। অর্থাৎ, গরুর সংখ্যা একটি, তাই verb singular হবে।
এবং A black and a white cow বললে বুঝাবে একটি সাদা এবং একটি কালো গরু। অর্থাৎ, গরুর সংখ্যা দুইটি। তাই verb plural হবে। 

তাই সঠিক উত্তর হবে খ) A black and a white cow are grazing in the field.

To এর পর সাধারণত verb এর base form হয়।
কিন্তু with a view to, look forward to, be used to, get used to ইত্যাদি শব্দের পর কোন verb আসলে উক্ত verb এর পর ing যুক্ত হয়।

Sabit is look forward to playing a guitar.

Hard and fast
English Meaning: (of a rule or a distinction made) fixed and definitive.
Bangla Meaning: বাঁধা-ধরা / অপরিবর্তনীয় ভাবে বিধিবদ্ধ    

Ex. Sentence: There are no hard and fast rules about that.
Bangla Meaning: এ ব্যাপারে কোনো বাঁধা-ধরা নিয়ম নেই।
