• Short Summary:
- এই উপন্যাসের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র Silas একজন তাঁতী। 
- চুরির মিথ্যা অভিযোগে তাকে নিজ লোকালয় থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়। অন্য এলাকায় গিয়ে একাকী বসবাস করা শুরু করে।
