• বংলা গদ্যের সূচনা ও সাহিত্যে এর বিকাশ:
• ১৫৫৫ সালে আসামরাজকে লেখা কোচবিহারের রাজার একটি পত্রকে বাংলা গদ্যের প্রাপ্ত প্রাচীনতম নিদর্শন বলে মনে করা হয়।
• ষোল শতক থেকে গদ্যরীতির সূচনা হলেও উনিশ শতকের পূর্ব পর্যন্ত এই সুদীর্ঘ সময়ে নিতান্ত প্রয়োজনের মধ্যে তা সীমাবদ্ধ থাকে।
• পরবর্তীতে পশ্চাতে খ্রিষ্টান পসার সাজিয়ে আগত পর্তুগিজ পাদ্রিদের হাতেই বাংলা গদ্যের ব্যাপক ব্যবহারের সূত্রপাত হয়।

- তবে বাংলা গদ্যের মূল বিকাশ ঘটে উনিশ শতকে।
- বাংলা গদ্যের বিকাশে "ফোর্ট উইলিয়াম কলেজ" ব্যাপক ভূমিকা রাখে।
- উনিশ শতকে বাংলা গদ্যরীতিতে লেখা এবং বাংলা হরফে ছাপা প্রথম মৌলিক গ্রন্থ রামরাম বসুর ‘রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্য চরিত্র’ (১৮০১) প্রকাশিত হয়। মৃত্যুঞ্জয় বিদ্যালঙ্কারসহ ফোর্ট উইলিয়ম কলেজে তাঁর সহকর্মীরা সংস্কৃত-প্রভাবিত ভাষায় তাঁদের গ্রন্থগুলি রচনা করেছিলেন। এসব গ্রন্থ ছিল ফোর্ট উইলিয়ম কলেজের ছাত্রদের জন্যে লেখা পাঠ্যপুস্তক।

• ড. সুকুমার সেন বাংলার গদ্যরীতির চারটি স্তর নির্দেশ করেছেন। যথা:
১. সূচনা: ষোল শতক-১৮০০ সালের পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।
২. উন্মেষ: ১৮০০-১৮৪৭ সালের পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।
৩. অভ্যুদয়: ১৮৪৭-১৮৬৫ সালের পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।
৪. পরিণতি: ১৮৬৫ থেকে বর্তমান কাল পর্যন্ত।

সুতরাং বলা যায় বাংলা গদ্যরীতিতে সাহিত্য রচনার সূচনা হয় উনিশ শতকে।

উপমান কর্মধারয় সমাস:
যার সঙ্গে তুলনা করা হয়, তা উপমান।
কিছু কর্মধারয় সমাসে উপমানের সঙ্গে গুণবাচক শব্দের সমাস হয়। এগুলােকে উপমান কর্মধারয় বলে।
যেমন -
কাজলের মতাে কালাে = কাজলকালাে
শশের মতাে ব্যস্ত = শশব্যস্ত
এই সমাসে পরপদ সাধারণত বিশেষণ হয়। 

উপমিত কর্মধারয় সমাস:
যাকে তুলনা করা হয়, তা উপমেয়।
কিছু কর্মধারয় সমাসে উপমেয় পদের সাথে উপমান পদের সমাস হয়। এগুলােকে উপমিত কর্মধারয় সমাস বলে।
যেমন -
পুরুষ সিংহের ন্যায় = সিংহপুরুষ,
আঁখি পদ্মের ন্যায় = পদ্মআঁখি,
মুখ চন্দ্রের ন্যায় = চন্দ্রমুখ
এই সমাসে উভয় পদই বিশেষ্য হয়।

হাঙর নদী গ্রেনেড:
মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের প্রেক্ষিতে বেশ কিছু উপন্যাস লিখেছেন সেলিনা হোসেন।
তার মধ্যে ভীষণ আলোচিত উপন্যাস 'হাঙর নদী গ্রেনেড'।
মুক্তিযুদ্ধের এক আবেগী ও প্রতিবাদী উপন্যাস এটি।
হলদী গ্রামের এক বয়স্ক নারীর জীবন এই উপন্যাসে মূর্ত হয়ে ওঠে।
এই নারী তাঁর নিজের ছেলেদের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশ নিতে যেমন উদ্বুদ্ধ করেন, তেমনি মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের বাঁচাতে নিজের মানসিক প্রতিবন্ধী ছেলেকে তুলে দেন পাকিস্তানি বাহিনীর হাতে।
