• Gerund:
- Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি noun এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ verb ও noun এর কাজ করে, তাহলে তাকে Gerund বলে।
- সংক্ষেপে: Gerund = Verb + ing = noun = Verb + noun.
- It is a word ending in "-ing" that is made from a verb and used like a noun.
- Gerunds don’t describe action—they act as nouns.

•  একটি বাক্যে Gerund বিভিন্ন অবস্থানে বসতে পারে।
- verb + ing যুক্ত word যদি বাক্যের preposition এরপরে object হিসেবে বসে, তবে তা সাধারনত Gerund হবে।

•  Infinitive হচ্ছে verb এর base form অথবা to + base form.

• Infintive দুই রকম হতে পারে-

• since এর প্রথম অংশ Present Indefinite/Present Perfect Tense হলে পরের অংশ Past Indefinite Tense হয়। 
- যেমন:
1. Many years have passed since his father died. 
2. It is many years since I went there.

• প্রশ্নে উল্লিখিত বাক্যটিতে since এর পূর্বের অংশ Present Perfect Tense (Many years have passed) এ আছে বিধায় পরের অংশ Past indefinite tense (we graduated from college.) হয়েছে।
• আবার Since এর প্রথম অংশ Past Indefinite Tense হলে পরের অংশ Past Perfect Tense হয়। 
যেমন: 
- It was many years since they had first met.

• The cracked mirror needs to be replaced.
- Here 'cracked' is used as a - Participle.

•  সাধারণত মূল Verb-এর সাথে ed যুক্ত হয়ে past participle গঠিত হয়, যেমন work-worked।
- কিন্তু অনেক ক্ষেত্রে ed যুক্ত না হয়েও past particple গঠিত হতে পারে।
- যেমন: Burn - Burnt
- Past Participle Verb সহ adjective হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
- সুতরাং, প্রশ্নে উল্লিখিত বাক্যে 'cracked' হচ্ছে past participle.

• Participle:
- যে word একই সাথে Verb এবং Adjective (মাঝে মধ্যে Adverb) এর কাজ করে, তাকে Participle বলে।

• Completing sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে as if/as though থাকলে সেই বাক্যটি Complete করার নিয়ম:
- As if/As though অর্থ 'যেন'।
- as if/as though এর প্রথম অংশে present indefinite হলে পরের অংশে past indefinite বসবে।
- প্রথম অংশে past indefinite tense হলে পরের অংশে past perfect tense হয়।

- Here 'conducted' is - Transitive verb.
- কারণ, এখানে verb, conducted এর object হচ্ছে an important experiment.

• Transitive verb:
- যে verb এর object আছে তাকে Transitive verb বলে৷
- Transitive verbs এর সাধারণ Structure হচ্ছে: subject + verb + object.
- Object সর্বদাই Noun অথবা Pronoun হয়।
- তাই বাক্যে verb এর পরে Noun অথবা Pronoun থাকলে verb টি সাধারণত transitive verb হবে।
- আবার intransitive verb এর শেষে preposition + object যুক্ত করেও তাকে transitive verb এ পরিণত করা যায়।
- Transitive verb এর কেবল subject নয় বরং এক বা একাধিক Object- ‍ও থাকবে।

• For এর ব্যবহার:
- Period of time এর পূর্বে for বসে।
- ‘for’ এর পরে যখন period of time (for two hours, for three days etc.) উল্লেখ থাকে, তখন Present Perfect Continuous Tense হয়।
- আবার, অতীতে কোন কাজ শুরু হয়ে বর্তমানেও চলছে বুঝালে বাক্যটি Present Perfect Continuous Tense হয়।
- structure: Subject + have been/has been + verb(ing) + time.

• Since এর ব্যবহার:
- Point of time এর পূর্বে since বসে।
- Point of time হচ্ছে সেই সময়কাল যাকে এক, দুই, তিন ইত্যাদি গণনার একক দ্বারা গণনা করা যায় না বরং কোনো সময়কে নির্দেশ করে।
- সময় - নির্দিষ্ট দিন হতে পারে (Friday, Monday), নির্দিষ্ট ঘড়ির কাঁটা হিসেবে ঘন্টা হতে পারে (five o'clock), নির্দিষ্ট সাল হতে পারে (1971) প্রভৃতির পূর্বে since বসে।

- Participle একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ করে।
- এখানে, running দ্বারা noun - water কে modify করা হয়েছে তাই এটি adjective এর কাজ করছে।
- verb+ing যখন adjective এর কাজ করে তখন তাকে present participle বলা হয়।
- তাই এখানে running হচ্ছে present participle.

• At this moment, now, right now, gradually, step by step ইত্যাদি হচ্ছে  present continuous tense indicator বা নির্দেশক। 
- অর্থাৎ, বাক্যে At this moment, now, right now নির্দেশক শব্দগুলো থাকলে বাক্যটি সাধারণত present continuous tense এ হয়।

Complete Sentence: The children are playing in the garden at this moment.

• Present Continuous Tense:
- বর্তমানে কোন কাজ চলছে বা নিকট ভবিষ্যতে চলবে এরূপ বোঝালে present continuous tense হয়।

More Example:
1. We are watching a movie now.
2. I am writing an email at this moment.
3. The dog is barking loudly right now.

• Complete Sentence: Parimal started/has started the meeting just now.

• Already, just, yet, recently, lately, ever, just now, still, etc ইত্যাদি হচ্ছে present perfect tense indicator বা নির্দেশক।
- অর্থাৎ বাক্যে already, just, yet, recently, lately, ever, just now, still নির্দেশক শব্দগুলো থাকলে বাক্যটি সাধারণত present perfect tense এ হয়।

• আবার, just now - a very short time ago;
- এই অর্থে Past Indefinite Tense হয়।
