• Gerund: 
- Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়ে যদি noun এর কাজ করে অর্থাৎ Verb ও noun এর কাজ করে, তাহলে তাকে Gerund বলে।
- সংক্ষেপে: Gerund = Verb+ing = noun = Verb+noun।
- Gerund দ্বারা স্থির অবস্থা বা কাজ বোঝায়।
- Gerund মূলত noun এবং বাক্যে একটি সাধারণ noun এর মত ব্যবহৃত হয়। কারণ Gerund সর্বদাই noun এর স্থানে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- আবার transitive verb এর object হিসেবে verb+ing বসলে তা Gerund হয়।

Clause ও phrase এর পার্থক্য:

- অন্য কথায় Clause এর মধ্যে Verb - Tense এর Structure অনুযায়ী থাকবে, কিন্তু Phrase এর মধ্যে Verb নাও থাকতে পারে, আর যদি থাকে তাহলে Tense এর Structure অনুযায়ী থাকবে না।
