• Noun phrases: 
- A noun phrase consists of a pronoun or noun and any associated modifiers, including adjectives, adjective phrases, adjective clauses, and other nouns in the possessive case.
- অধিকাংশ সময়ই, Noun phrase  মূলত: একটি Noun বা Pronoun এর কাজ করে। 
- এছাড়া, অর্থ এবং বাক্যে অবস্থান অনুযায়ী Noun phrase বিভিন্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে ।
- যেমন: 
- Subject হিসেবে। 
- Object of a verb হিসেবে। 
- Object of a preposition হিসেবে। 
- Subject complement হিসেবে। 
- Object complement হিসেবে।

• The children admired the beautiful paintings in the art gallery.
- এখানে 'the beautiful paintings' হচ্ছে Noun phrase. 
- কারণ, verb (admired) এর direct object হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। 
- আবার, Article + Adjective + Noun = Noun Phrase.

Can't/Couldn't help (phrase): 
Meaning - If you can't/couldn't help something, such as acting in a particular way or making a particular remark, you are/were not able to control or stop it. 
- এ দুইটি phrase এর পর verb + ing হয়।
Example: He cannot help telling a lie.

Complete Sentence - I can't help feeling that the money could be put to better use.

তবে, Can't but এরপর verb এর base form বসে।
Example: She could not but congratulate him.

• Adjective clause:
- যে sub-ordinate clause কোনো noun/pronoun এর পরে বসে ঐ noun/pronoun কে modify করে তাকে Adjective Clause বলে। 
- অর্থাৎ noun এর post modifier হিসাবে adjective clause বসে।
- Adjective clause মূলত noun সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য দেয়  এবং এরা relative pronoun (that, who, whose, whom, which, why, when) ইত্যাদি দ্বারা  শুরু হয়।

• Adjective Clause দুইটি স্থানে বসতে পারে - 
- Noun এর post modifier - (subject + verb + noun + adjective clause);
- Subject এর  post modifier - (Subject + adjective clause + verb + object).

• The book that I bought yesterday is really interesting.
- এই বাক্যে 'that I bought yesterday' Noun এর post modifier হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে noun সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য দিচ্ছে। 
- তাই, এটি Adjective clause. 

Along with someone/something (phrase): 
English Meaning - In addition to someone or something else. 
Bangla Meaning - সংলগ্ন হওয়া। 

• with, together with, as well as, along with, in addition to, accompanied by দ্বারা কোন noun বা pronoun যুক্ত হলে এদের পূর্ববর্তী subject অনুযায়ী verb হয়।
Examples: 
- The principal along with the teachers was present in the meeting yesterday.
- Mr. Amin accompanied by his colleagues was present at the party.

Complete Sentence - The manager, along with her assistants, is organizing the company retreat.

• Complex sentence এ যদি if clause টি negative থাকে, তা ‍simple sentence করতে Without+ Verb+ ing + ২য় clause হয়।

Example:
Complex: If you do not struggle in life, you cannot achieve your goal.
Simple: Without struggling in life, you cannot achieve your goal.

আবার,
Complex sentence এ যদি if clause টি positive থাকে, তা ‍simple sentence করতে Without এর পরিবর্তে By+ Verb+ ing + ২য় clause হয়।
অর্থাৎ, যদি clause টি affirmative হয়, without এর পরিবর্তে by ব্যবহৃত হয়। 

Example: ‍
Complex: If you work hard, you will get a promotion quickly.
Simple: By working hard, you will get a promotion quickly.

A number of (idiom):
English Meaning -  More than two but fewer than many: several. 

•  A number of এর পর verb plural হয়। 
- Ex: A number of people are waiting for the bus.

আবার, The number of এর পর verb singular হয়। 
- Ex: The number of people here has increased since this morning.

Correct Sentence - There are a number of different options to choose from.

• Verbal Phrase/Group verb: 
- A verb phrase (VP, also called a "verb group") consists of a main verb and its auxiliary verbs (including modals).
- অর্থাৎ. এক বা একাধিক word একত্রে মিলে যখন একটি verb এর মত কাজ করে তখন তাকে Verbal phrase বলে ।
- এদেরকে Group verb ও বলা হয়ে থাকে।

• সাধারণত Neither of এর পরে plural noun বা pronoun এবং singular verb বসে।
- Neither দ্বারা দুইয়ের কোনটিই নয় বুঝানো হয়।

• 'Neither of' যুক্ত বাক্য গঠনের নিয়মাবলী:
- Neither + of + plural noun + singular verb.
- Neither of এর পরে plural noun এবং singular verb বসে।

Example: 
- Neither of the two men was strong.
- Neither of the students has submitted the term paper to the teacher yet.

Complete Sentence - Neither of the movies was worth watching.

Assuage (verb transitive)
English Meaning: To make unpleasant feelings less strong.
Bangla Meaning: (দুঃখ, বেদনা, অনুভূতি, কামনা ইত্যাদি) প্রশমিত করা; উপশম করা।

Synonyms: Relieve (স্বস্তি দেওয়া), Allay ((ভয়, উত্তেজনা ইত্যাদি) লাঘব করা), Diminish (হ্রাস করা), Alleviate (উপশম করা, লাঘব, Ease (সহজ করা)। 
Antonyms: Aggravate (উত্ত্যক্ত/প্রকোপিত করা; খেপানো), Intensify (তীব্রতর করা বা হওয়া), Deepen (গভীর করা), Escalate(বাড়ানো), Exacerbate (অধিকতর খারাপ করা)। 

Other Forms: Assuagement (noun).

Example Sentence: 
1. The government has tried to assuage the public's fears.
2. She managed to assuage the angry customer.

Lucid (adjective): 
English Meaning: (of speech or writing) Clearly expressed and easy to understand, or (of a person) thinking or reasoning clearly.
Bangla Meaning: 
(১) স্পষ্ট; সহজবোধ্য: lucid style; (২) মানসিকভাবে সুস্থ।

Synonyms: Intelligible (বুদ্ধিগ্রাহ্য; সুবোধ্য), Understandable (বোধগম্য), Clear (স্বচ্ছ; স্পষ্ট), Coherent (সুসঙ্গত) Apprehensible (বোধগম্য)। 
Antonyms: Confusing (বিভ্রান্তিকর), Unclear (অস্পষ্ট), Ambiguous (অস্পষ্ট), Equivocal (দ্ব্যর্থবোধক), Baffling (হতবুদ্ধিকর), Confounding (বিভ্রান্তিকর)।

Other Forms: 
- Lucid intervals/moments (noun) উন্মাদগ্রস্ত ব্যক্তির পাগলামির ফাঁকে ফাঁকে প্রকৃতিস্থ অবস্থা।
- Lucidly (adverb) স্পষ্টভাবে; প্রাঞ্জলভাবে।
- Lucidity (noun) [uncountable noun] স্বচ্ছতা; সহজবোধ্যতা।

Example Sentence: 
1. It's written in very concrete language, very lucid, and easy to understand.
2. It was a lucid moment in his madness.

Carry something off (phrasal verb): 
English Meaning - To succeed in doing or achieving something difficult. 
Bangla Meaning - জিতে নেওয়া। 
Example - I thought he carried off the part of Hamlet with great skill.

Complete Sentence - He carried off the most coveted prize.

এছাড়াও, 
Carry (something) on - (ক) চালানো; চালিয়ে যাওয়া; অব্যাহত রাখা; He could not carry on his father’s trade due to family disputes.
(খ) অনর্গল বা নালিশের সুরে কথা বলা; উদ্ভট বা সন্দেহজনক আচরণ করা: Look! How they are carrying on. 

Carry on with - (কোনো কিছু) করে/চালিয়ে যাওয়া: Whatever happens, I will carry on my work.

Carry something out - (ক) পালন/কার্যকর/সম্পন্ন করা: carry out a plan/threat/promise etc.
(খ) চালানো/সম্পন্ন/নিষ্পন্ন করা: carry out experiments/tests.

Carry something forward - (বাণিজ্য. হিসাব.) পরপৃষ্ঠায় জের টানা।

Carry somebody/something through - (ক) (বাধাবিপত্তির মধ্য দিয়ে) সাহায্য করা; সহায় হওয়া: His tenacity has carried him through;
(খ) পূর্ণ/পালন করা: The contract must be carried through.

English Meaning - To make someone or yourself familiar with something. 
Bangla Meaning - পরিচিত হওয়া। 
Example Sentence - Take time to acquaint yourself with the rules.

Complete Sentence - One who changes his residence in a new area should be acquainted with one’s neighbors.
