এর প্রভাবে শব্দটির কয়েক ধরনের পরিবর্তন সাধিত হয়।

'পাতি' যোগে কিছু শব্দঃ পাতিহাঁস, পাতিশিয়াল, পাতিলেবু, পাতকুয়ো ইত্যাদি।

যে দুইটি ধ্বনির মিলনে সন্ধি হবে, তাদের একটিও যদি ব্যঞ্জনধ্বনি হয়, তাহলেই সেই সন্ধিকে ব্যঞ্জনসন্ধি বলা হয়।
