উপমান কর্মধারয়:
উপমান অর্থ তুলনীয় বস্তু।
প্রত্যক্ষ কোনাে বস্তুর সাথে পরােক্ষ কোনাে বস্তুর তুলনা করলে প্রত্যক্ষ বস্তুটিকে বলা হয় উপমেয়, আর যার সঙ্গে তুলনা করা হয়েছে তাকে বলা হয় উপমান।
উপমান ও উপমেয়ের একটি সাধারণ ধর্ম থাকবে।
যেমন – ভ্রমরের ন্যায় কৃষ্ণ কেশ = ভ্রমরকৃষ্ণকেশ। এখানে ভ্রমর উপমান | এবং কেশ উপমেয়। কৃষ্ণত্ব হলাে সাধারণ ধর্ম।

- সাধারণ ধর্মবাচক পদের সাথে উপমানবাচক পদের যে সমাস হয়, তাকে উপমান কর্মধারয় সমাস বলে।
যথা –
- তুষারের ন্যায় শুভ্র = তুষারশুভ্র,
- অরুণের ন্যায় রাঙা = অরুণরাঙা।

বহুব্রীহি সমাস : যে সমাসে পূর্বপদ বা পরপদ কোনােটির অর্থ না বুঝিয়ে অন্য কিছু বােঝায়, তাকে বহুব্রীহি সমাস বলে।
যেমন - বউ ভাত পরিবেশন করে যে অনুষ্ঠানে = বউভাত,
লাঠিতে লাঠিতে যে যুদ্ধ = লাঠালাঠি ইত্যাদি।

ক. সমানাধিকার বহুব্রীহি: পূর্বপদ বিশেষণ এবং পরপদ বিশেষ্য হলে তাকে সমানাধিকার বহুব্রীহি বলে।
যেমন –
এক গো যার = একগুঁয়ে,
লাল পাড় যে শাড়ির = লালপেড়ে।

খ. ব্যাধিকরণ বহুব্রীহি: পূর্বপদ ও পরপদ উভয়ই বিশেষ্য (কখনাে কখনাে ক্রিয়াবিশেষ্য) হলে ব্যাধিকরণ বহুব্রীহি হয়।
যেমন - গোঁফে খেজুর যার = গোঁফখেজুরে।

গ. পদলােপী বহুব্রীহি: যে বহুব্রীহি সমাসের ব্যাসবাক্য থেকে এক বা একাধিক পদ লােপ পায়, তাকে পদলােপী বহুব্রীহি বলে।
যেমন - চিরুনির মতাে দাঁত যার = চিরুনদতি,
হাতে খড়ি দেওয়া হয় যে অনুষ্ঠানে = হাতেখড়ি।

ঘ. ব্যতিহার বহুব্রীহি: পারস্পরিক ক্রিয়ায় কোনাে অবস্থা তৈরি হলে ব্যতিহার বহুব্রীহি হয়।
যেমন – হাতে হাতে যে যুদ্ধ = হাতাহাতি,
কানে কানে যে কথা = কানাকানি।

ঙ.  অলুক বহুব্রীহি : যে বহুব্রীহি সমাসে সমস্যমান পদের পূর্বপদের বিভক্তি অক্ষুন্ন থাকে, তাকে অলুক বহুব্রীহি বলে।
যেমন -
গায়ে এসে পড়ে যে = গায়েপড়া,
কানে খাটো যে = কানেখাটো।

চ. সংখ্যাবাচক বহুব্রীহি: যে বহুব্রীহি সমাসের পূর্বপদ সংখ্যাবাচক, তাকে সংখ্যাবাচক বহুব্রীহি সমাস বলে।
যেমন – চার ভুজ যে ক্ষেত্রের = চতুর্ভুজ,
সে (তিন) তার যে যন্ত্রের = সেতার।
