- সাধারণত Metaphor দ্বারা এমন দুইটি জিনিসের মধ্যে তুলনা দেওয়া হয় যারা একই রকম বা সদৃশ নয় কিন্তু তাদের মধ্যে কিছু সাধারণ মিল থাকে।

• Difference Between Metaphor and Simile
- It can be difficult in some instances to distinguish between metaphor and simile as literary devices.
- উভয় figures of speech দ্বারাই দুটি ভিন্ন বা বিজাতীয় জিনিসের মাঝে পরোক্ষভাবে বা রূপকার্থে তুলনা নির্দেশ করে।
- বলা যেতে পারে,  simile is a subset of metaphor.
- দুটির মধ্যে পার্থক্য নিরূপনের একটি সহজ উপায় হচ্ছে - Simile তে তুলনার ক্ষেত্রে As  ও Like দ্বারা তুলনাটি বুঝানো হয়, কিন্তু Metaphor এর ক্ষেত্রে As or Like হয় উল্লেখ না করে সরাসরিই তুলনা নির্দেশ করা হয়।
- যেমন:
Simile: I wandered lonely as a cloud.
Metaphor: Revenge is a wild justice.
