♦ Comic Relief:
- A humorous scene in between serious scenes of a tragedy.
- It is intended to release emotional tension and lift the tragic effect.

- হালকা কথা বার্তার দ্বারা গুরুগম্ভীর পরিস্থিতিকে হালকা করার প্রয়াস।
- ট্র্যাজেডির দুঃখময়, সিরিয়াস আবহে একটু আনন্দ বা হাসির জন্য দু’একটা কমিক সংলাপ, চরিত্র বা দৃশ্যের অবতারণা করা হয়। এগুলোই কমিক রিলিফ বলে পরিচিত।

♦ Wuthering Heights: 
- Emily Bronte রচিত।
- এটি তার রচিত শ্রেষ্ঠ সাহিত্যকর্ম।
- এটি প্রকাশিত হয় ১৮৪৭ সালে।
- প্রেম এবং প্রতিহিংসার অভূতপূর্ব সংমিশ্রণ এই উপন্যাসে দেখা যায়। 

• Summary and characters: 
- Heathcliff এই উপন্যাসের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র।  কাহিনীতে দেখা যায়, Heathcliff  একজন এতিম বালক। অন্যের আশ্রয়ে থাকে। পরবর্তীতে আশ্রয়দাতার কন্যা  Catherine Earnshaw এর সাথে তার মনের মিলন ঘটে, দুইজন দুইজনকে ভালোবেসে ফেলে। 
- কিন্তু Catherine প্রতিশ্রুতি ভঙ্গ করে অন্যত্র বিয়ে করলে Heathcliff এর জগৎ এলোমেলো হয়ে যায় । পরে, Catherine এর ভাই এর Hindley সাথেও বিরোধে জড়ায় Heathcliff, Hindley অবশ্য শুরু থেকেই Heathcliff এর সাথে দূর্ব্যবহার করতো। 
- এরপর Heathcliff নিরুদ্দেশ হয়ে যায়। যখন ফিরে আসে তখন সে অঢেল অর্থ বিত্তের মালিক। সে তার মালিকের বাড়ী Wuthering Heights কিনে নেয়। প্রেমিকা Catherine এর ননদের সাথে প্রেমের অভিনয় করে এবং সম্পত্তির লোভে তাকে বিয়েও করে। যদিও বিয়েটা এক সময় ভেঙ্গে যায়।
- এরপর Catherine মারা যায়। তার ভাই Hindley ও মারা যায়। কিন্তু তাদের সন্তানরা ধীরে ধীরে বড় হতে থাকে। Heathcliff এর সন্তানও এদের সাথে যোগ দেয়।  এভাবে কাহিনী এক প্রজন্ম থেকে পরের প্রজন্মের মাঝে এগিয়ে চলে।

♦  Animal Farm:
- এটি George Orwell লিখিত একটি satirical allegorical novella. 
- এটি 17 August 1945 সালে England এ প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়।
- The book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, the rebellion is betrayed, and the farm ends up in a state as bad as it was before, under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon.

- Comparison between two far-fetched objects of different kinds is called Conceit.
- এ ক্ষেত্রে দুটি ভিন্ন রকম জিনিসের মাঝে তুলনা করা হয়।
- It surprises its readers with its ingenious discovery and delights them with its intellectual quality.
- A famous example is Donne's comparison between two lovers' soul and the two arms of a pair of compasses in 'A Valediction Forbidding Morning':

- এটি ১৭১১ সালে বেনামে প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল।

- In general, an epic is a long narrative poem that describes the deeds of a hero.

♦ “I have measured out my life with coffee spoons." This line is an extract from T.S. Eliot's - The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.

 • The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock:
- আধুনিক যুগের অন্যতম সেরা কবিতা এটি।
- এটা মূলত: একটি Dramatic Monologue. এটি প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল Poetry ম্যাগাজিনে, ১৯১৫ সালে।
- এখানে দেখায়, J. Alfred Prufrock যে কিনা একজন মধ্যবয়সী মানুষ, তার ফেলে আসা অতীতের স্মরণ করছে। চাপা দীর্ঘশ্বাস ফেলে সে তার ভগ্ন শরীর ও হৃদয়ের অবস্থা পর্যবেক্ষণ করে। সে বুঝতে পারে, সে তার যৌবন এবং সুখ দুটোই হারিয়েছে।
