Parts of Speech

কতগুলো শব্দ আছে যারা সবসময় plural হয়। যেমন-
- People,
- Nuptials,
- Cattle,
- Police,
- Public,
- Poultry,
- Gentry,
- Vermin,
- Savings,
- Proceeds ইত্যাদি।
আবার কতগুলো শব্দ আছে যারা সবসময় singular হয়। যেমন-
- News,
- Mathematics,
- Electronics,
- Ethics,
- Economics,
- Politics,
- Physics,
- Innings,
- Gallows,
- Advice (Uncountable) ইত্যাদি।

ইংরেজিতে অনেক শব্দ আছে যেগুলো Dictionary খুঁজলে বিভিন্ন Part of Speech হিসেবে পাওয়া যাবে। যদি বাক্যে ব্যবহার থাকে, তখন বাক্যের মধ্যে শব্দটির Function অনুযায়ী সাধারণত একটি Part of Speech হিসেবেই গণ্য হবে। কিন্তু যখন বাক্যে ব্যবহার না থাকে, এবং Option হিসেবে একাধিক Part of Speech (“Both Noun and Verb”, “Both Noun and Adjective” etc.) এ রকম দেয়া না থাকে, তখন ঐ অপশনটি বেঁছে নিতে হয় যেটা –
1. যেটা যে Part of Speech হিসেবে বেশি কমন।
যেমন-
water noun হিসেবেই more common যদিও এটা verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
very – adverb হিসেবেই বেশি কমন, যদিও এটা Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
but – conjunction হিসেবেই বেশি কমন, যদিও এটা Preposition /Adverb হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে and so on.
এভাবে প্রদত্ত প্রশ্নে Neutral শব্দটি Adjective হিসেবেই বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়।

2. যেটা শব্দের Formation (Prefix/ Suffix) অনুযায়ী বেশি অনুকূল।
যেমন-
Plural, Neutral ইত্যাদি শব্দের শেষে al যোগ হয়েছে যেটা সাধারণত Adjective – Indicate করে।
কিন্তু Dictionary খুঁজলে এগুলো Adjective এবং Noun দুইভাবেই পাওয়া যাবে।

3. কোন শব্দের Noun হিসেবে Abstract Noun এবং Common Noun দুটি Noun Form থাকলে Abstract Noun অগ্রাধিকার পাবে।
যেমন-
যদি বলা হয়, Patriotic এর Noun Form কী? Patriotism/ Patriot.
Ans : Patriotism
এভাবে, Neutral (noun) (নিরপেক্ষ ব্যক্তি, রং, অবস্থান, দেশ ইত্যাদি) আবার Neutral (Adj) (নিরপেক্ষ) এর Abstract Noun হচ্ছে Neutrality.
অতএব, Neutral কে সাধারণভাবে আমরা Adjective হিসেবেই ধরে নেব।

4. Adjective কখনো ঐ Adjective +Part/Position/Colour ইত্যাদি বুঝানোর জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। এটা বেশি ব্যবহৃত হলে Dictionary তে স্থান পায়।
তাই, এক্ষেত্রে Part of Speech নির্ণয়ে মূল শব্দ অর্থাৎ Adjective কে Priority দিতে হবে। যেমন- green, yellow, neutral ইত্যাদি।
Children like the yellow of an egg. এখানে yellow – Noun.
কিন্তু বাক্যে ব্যবহার না থাকলে আমরা এটাকে সাধারণভাবে Adjective হিসেবেই ধরে নেব।

That যুক্ত clause টি Hope Verb-এর direct Object হিসেবে কাজ করছে । তাই এটি একটি noun clause. 

Noun Clause: 
যেকোনো বাক্যের Subject এবং Object  Noun হয়। সেই সূত্রে Subject এবং Object এ clause থাকলে সেটাও Noun clause হবে।

চেনার উপায়: verb কে "কে/কারা" দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে subject পাওয়া যাবে। আবার "কি/কাকে" দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে object পাওয়া যায়। তাছাড়া to ছাড়া বাকি preposition এর পর noun clause বসে।

উদাহরণ: 
I like "what I see"
এখানে Verb হচ্ছে like, verb "কী" দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর পাওয়া যায় what I see (আমি যা দেখি)। তাই এটা noun clause.

• Wallow in (phrasal verb with wallow verb)
English Meaning: to allow yourself to enjoy something completely.
Bangla Meaning: নিমজ্জিত থাকা; গড়াগড়ি দেওয়া।

Example Sentences:
1. After the breakup, she chose to wallow in her sadness for a few days before trying to move on.
2. Instead of trying to solve the problem, he preferred to wallow in his frustration.

• Complete sentence: The proposal had been drafted before the meeting began.

• Before যুক্ত বাক্যের গঠন:
- 'Before' conjunction দ্বারা দুইটি বাক্যাংশ যুক্ত থাকলে before এর পূর্বে past perfect tense হয় এবং before এর পরে past indefinite tense হবে।
- Past perfect + before + Past indefinite.
- যেমন: The proposal had been drafted before the meeting began.

• আবার,
- ​ভবিষ্যতকালের দুটি কাজ before দ্বারা যুক্ত হলে before এর পূর্বে future indefinite/perfect tense হয় এবং before এর পরে present indefinite tense হয়।
​- অর্থাৎ, যদি before দ্বারা যুক্ত প্রথম clauseটি future indefinite tense এ হয়, তবে পরের clause টিতে present indefinite tense হবে।
- যেমন: We shall return before the sun sets.

- সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী শুন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে- ক) had been drafted.

• Little, A little, Few, A few এর ব্যবহার:
- এগুলো হচ্ছে quantifier determiners. যার দ্বারা কিছু পরিমাণ, সংখ্যাকে বুঝায়।
- Little এবং A little বসে uncountable noun এর ক্ষেত্রে,
- Few এবং A few বসে countable noun এর ক্ষেত্রে।  
- Little ও Few, negative quantifier determiners ব্যবহার করা হয়।

• অল্প কয়েকটি অর্থে countable noun এর আগে A few বসে এবং অল্প একটু বা সামান্য অর্থে uncountable noun এর আগে A little বসে।
- A few বা A little উভয়ের অর্থই হচ্ছে Some (অল্প কয়েকটি বা অল্প পরিমাণ)।

• প্রদত্ত sentence টিতে milk হচ্ছে Uncountable noun. তাহলে এখানে a little এর ব্যবহার হবে।

Toward (preposition): 
English Meaning - In the direction of, or closer to someone or something. 
Bangla Meaning -
(১) অভিমুখে; দিকে; পানে: toward(s) Dhaka; toward(s) quarrel.
(২) সম্পর্কে; ব্যাপারে: His attitude toward(s) the government policy.
(৩) (সহায়তার) উদ্দেশ্যে।
(৪) (সময়) কাছাকাছি: toward(s) the end of the year.

Example Sentences: 
- She stood up and walked toward him.
- He leaned toward his wife and whispered, "Can we go home soon?"

Complete Sentence - The airplane is flying toward the mountains.

আরো কিছু Prepositions এর ব্যবহার - 
• Inside: কোনো স্থানের ভিতরে অবস্থান বা কিছু করা বোঝাতে: You should not stay inside the room all the evening.

• Near: কোনো কিছুর নিকটে বোঝাতে: Our house is near the supermarket. তবে by দ্বারা খুব নিকটে বোঝায়।

• Onto: কোনো তলের উপরে পরেছে বোঝাতে: The boy jumped onto the mat.

• Opposite: বিপরীতে অবস্থান বা অভিমুখে বোঝাতে: Our house is opposite the supermarket.

• Out of: (i) কোনো স্থানের ভিতর থেকে বাইরে নেয়া বা যাওয়া বোঝাতে: The cat jumped out of the window.
(ii) নাগালের/নিয়ন্ত্রনের/কর্মস্থলের বাইরে বোঝাতে: out of reach/station/fashion/stock.
(iii) প্রাইভেট যানবাহন থেকে নামা বোঝাতে: He got out of the car.

• Outside: কোনো স্থানের বাইরে বোঝাতে: Can you wait outside the room?

- Bangla Meaning: তার সূক্ষ্ম দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে সে গর্ব পায়, যদিও কেউ তা খেয়াল করে না।

• Take pride in something/someone (phrase):
English Meaning To feel very pleased about something or someone you are closely connected with.
Bangla Meaning - গৌর করা; দর্প করা।

Neither…..nor হল সঠিক co-relative conjunction এর ব্যবহার ৷
কেননা Neither…..nor conjunction কি দুটি noun বা pronoun এর কোনোটি নয় বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়।
either…. or ব্যবহার হয় ৷
Neither এর সাথে and অথবা but বসে না।

Principal verb এর দুইটি প্রকার হলো Transitive and Intransitive verb.

Transitive verb হল এমন verb যার একটি object থাকে।
অর্থাৎ Transitive verb = verb+object (object টি হবে noun/pronoun/noun phrase).
Verb কে, কি বা কাকে দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করে যদি উত্তর পাওয়া যায় তাহলে ঐ verb টি Transitive verb.

অপরদিকে, Intransitive verb এর কোনো object থাকে না।
Intransitive verb এ verb এর পর adverb/preposition or punctuation marks বসে।

অপশন গুলোর মধ্যে ক), খ) ও গ) - এই তিনটি বাক্যের ই verb এর পর object আছে।
কিন্তু ঘ) The rivers flow slowly বাক্যটিতে verb এর পর object না বসে adverb slowly বসেছে।
তাই এটিই সঠিক উত্তর।

বস্তুকে modify করলে present participle হবে।
- এখানে It একটা বস্তু  তাই embarrassing  হবে।
-  সুতরাং বাক্যটি হলো  It was a very embarrassing situation.

• Complete sentence: The prince went a hunting.

• কখনো কখনো preposition অর্থে 'a' ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন সেই 'a' কে disguised preposition বলে।
- বাক্যটিতে went on hunting এর পরিবর্তে a hunting ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- অর্থাৎ, বাক্যটির on রূপে a ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- এ জাতীয় আরো উদাহরণ হলো:
- It set me a (on) thinking.
- He get 50tk a month.

• Note:
- Disguised Preposition: যদি preposition এর পরিবর্তে ‘a/o’ ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন তাদেরকে Disguised (ছদ্মবেশি) Preposition বলে।
- সাধারণত on এর পরিবর্তে ‘a’ এবং of এর পরিবর্তে ‘o’ বসে।

Correct answer: Indefinite Pronoun.
- এখানে, "Many" pronoun দ্বারা দুর্ঘটনায় আহত ব্যক্তির বা সংখ্যা নির্দিষ্ট করে না বুঝিয়ে অনির্দিষ্ট ভাবে বোঝায় তাই এটি Indefinite pronoun.

• Indefinite pronoun:
- যে সকল pronoun দ্বারা কোন নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে না বুঝিয়ে অনির্দিষ্ট ভাবে বোঝায় তাদের Indefinite pronoun বলে।
- অর্থাৎ, এগুলো দ্বারা নির্দিষ্ট ভাবে কাউকে না বুঝিয়ে সাধারণ ভাবে বোঝানো হয়।
- যেমন: All, one, no one, none, any, some, several, everyone, others, another, few, little, much, many, more, ইত্যাদি।

• Pronoun হলো noun এর পরিবর্তে ব্যবহৃত word. এ কারণে Pronoun কে Substituting word বলে।
- Pronoun ৮ প্রকার যথা:
- Personal Pronoun: I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, ours, you, thee, your, yours, he, him, his, she, her, hers. it, its, they, etc.
- Reflexive Pronoun: myself, ourselves, yourself, yourselves, himself, herself, themselves, etc.
- Demonstrative Pronoun: this, these, that, those, so, such, the same, etc.
- Indefinite Pronoun: one, any, some, many, all, few, several, no one, everyone, none, someone, nobody, anybody, etc.
- Interrogative Pronoun: what, which, who, whom, whose, etc.
- Relative Pronoun: what, which, who, whom, whose, that, as, but, whoever, whomever, whatever, etc.
- Distributive Pronoun: each, either, neither, etc.
- Reciprocal Pronoun: Each other, One another.

- The correct structure after "tempted" is "to + base verb" (infinitive).
