“Fortune” শব্দটি Third person singular number.
এবং বাক্যটি চিরন্তন সত্য হওয়ায় এটি Present Indefinite Tense হবে।
অর্থাৎ, শূন্যস্থানে favours বসবে।

• Get something এর পর verb এর past participle ব্যবহৃত হয়। তবে get someone এর পর to-infinitive হয়।
অর্থাৎ to + verb এর base form ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Get + to + verb এর present form. যেমন:
- I never get to see her now that she’s moved to California.
- I'd like to get to know her.

Complete sentence: My parents got me to stay inside.

Specious - superficially plausible, but actually wrong; আপাতদৃষ্টিতে বিশ্বাসযোগ্য, কিন্তু আসলে ভুল।
Coherent - সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ; সুসঙ্গত।
Astute - কৌশলী; ধুরন্ধর।
Cogent - অকাট্য।
Deceived - deliberately cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, especially for personal gain; প্রতারিত।

বাক্যের অর্থানুযায়ী শূন্যস্থানে specious বসানো ই যুক্তিযুক্ত।

বাক্যের প্রথম অংশ যা পরে ঘটেছেঃ When we arrived.
বাক্যের দ্বিতীয় অংশ যা আগে থেকেই ঘটতেছিলঃ A crowd has been waiting for hours to greet him.
অতীতের দুটি কাজের মধ্যে অপেক্ষাকৃত আগে সংঘটিত কাজটি কিছু সময় ধরে চলছিল এরূপ বুঝালে তা verb-এর past perfect continuous tense হয় এবং যে কাজটি পরে ঘটে সেটি past indefinite tense হয়।

• Correct Sentence: One dozen eggs is enough for the party. (অপশন গ).
- কিছু Noun আছে যেমন: Brace, Gross, Dozen, Pair, Hundred, Thousand, Score, Fathom, Head ইত্যাদি যাদের আগে নির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যাবাচক বিশেষণ থাকলে Verb Singular হয়।

• উল্লিখিত বাকি অপশনগুলো,
(ক) যখন কোন Infinitive, Gerund, Verbal Noun, Clause বা Phrase কোন Sentence এর Subject হয় তখন Verb Singular হয়। 
- Correct Sentence: Swimming is a good exercise.

(খ) একক দৈর্ঘ্য, পরিমাপ বা স্থান বুঝালে Subject দেখতে Plural হলেও Verb Singular হয়।
- Correct Sentence: Fifty miles is a long way.

(ঘ) Either --- or, Neither --- nor দ্বারা Singular Subject যুক্ত হলে Verb Singular হয়।
- Correct Sentence: Either he or his brother is guilty.

• কোন sentence এ 'before' থাকলে, 
Before এর প্রথম অংশ Past Perfect Tense এর হলে পরের অংশ Past Indefinite Tense হয়। 
যেমন- They had eaten dinner before the movie began.
- She had visited that museum before it closed for renovations.

• কোন sentence এ 'after' থাকলে, 
After এর প্রথম অংশ Past Indefinite Tense এর হলে পরের অংশ Past Perfect Tense হয়। 
যেমন - He arrived at the airport after the flight had departed.

So, Complete Sentence - She received the news about the job offer after she had accepted another position.

• Correct Answer: খ) The women are in the park.

- Woman মানে একজন মহিলা (singular).
- Women মানে একাধিক মহিলা (plural).
- ইংরেজিতে "womens" বলে কোনো শব্দ নেই, তাই এটি ভুল।
- যেহেতু subject হলো women (plural), তাই verb হবে are (plural).
- তাই সঠিক বাক্য: The women are in the park.

• অপশনে উল্লিখিত শব্দগুলোর অর্থ -

ক) diatonic
- In music, any stepwise arrangement of the seven “natural” pitches (scale degrees) forming an octave without altering the established pattern of a key or mode—in particular, the major and natural minor scales.
খ) ethnic cleansing
- Ethnic cleansing, the attempt to create ethnically homogeneous geographic areas through the deportation or forcible displacement of persons belonging to particular ethnic groups.
গ) diaspora
- the dispersion or spread of a people from their original homeland/ people who have spread or been dispersed from their homeland.
ঘ) diatribe
- A forceful and bitter verbal attack against someone or something.

• সুতরাং, The movement of the Rohingya people in Bangladesh away from Myanmar is diaspora.
- কারণ রোহিংগাদের আদি জন্মভূমি হচ্ছে মায়ানমার এবং সেখান থেকে তারা বাংলাদেশে এসে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ছড়িয়ে ছিটিতে আছে।

Incorrect sentence: He has gone to hospital to visit his mother.

এর Correct sentence হলো: He has gone to the hospital to visit his mother.

• Article -এর নিয়মানুযায়ী,
- School, college, university, hospital, market, church, mosque, prison, ইত্যাদি স্থানগুলো যে উদ্দেশ্যে নির্মিত হয়েছে সেই উদ্দেশ্যে সেখানে গেলে/যাওয়া বোঝাতে স্থানগুলো ব্যবহৃত হলে তখন এদের পূর্বে Article বসে না।
- যেমন: Sohel went to hospital as a patient.

• কিন্তু স্থানগুলোতে পরিদর্শন করা হলে কিংবা স্থানগুলো অন্য উদ্দেশ্যে ব্যবহৃত হলে এদের পূর্বে Article বসে।
- যেমন: He has gone to the hospital to see his brother.

• Other options:
খ) We have dinner at 9 o'clock.
- বাক্যটি সঠিক, খাবার (meals) breakfast, lunch, dinner, ইত্যাদির পূর্বে article (a/an) বসে না।
- তবে খাবারের (meals) পূর্বে Adjective থাকলে অথবা বিশেষার্থে এদের পূর্বে article (a/an) বসে।
- যেমন: We had a good breakfast yesterday.

গ) Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
- বাক্যটি সঠিক, একটি পর্বতের নামের আগে কোন Article বসে না, কিন্তু পর্বতমালার নামের আগে The বসে।

ঘ) He reads Shakespeare in his free time.
- বাক্যটি সঠিক, লেখকের নাম দ্বারা তার রচিত সাহিত্যকর্ম বোঝালে তার পূর্বে কোন Article বসে না।

• 'Most of' (অধিকাংশ) এর পরের Noun/ Pronoun - Plural হয়ে থাকে।
- এখানে Works ছাড়া বাকি শব্দগুলো Singular.
- তাই সঠিক উত্তর ঘ) works.

• Cambridge Dictionary তে দেওয়া Most এর দুটো উদাহরণের দিকে লক্ষ করি -
- Most of the information was useful.
- He’d made most of the desserts himself.

• এখান থেকে বুঝা যায় যে হয় most of the এর পরে uncountable noun অথবা plural noun হবে।
- প্রশ্ন উল্লিখিত বাক্যে poem, play, drama এ সবগুলো singular noun.
- তাই শেক্সপিয়ারের সমস্ত কাজ বুঝাতে শূন্যস্থানে plural ‘works’ ব্যবহৃত হবে।

• Correct answer: Nawar has read most of the works of Shakespeare. 

• Complete sentence: I am looking for someone who can speak English.

• Can -এর ব্যবহার:
- বর্তমান সামর্থ্য, অনুমতি, অনুরোধ, সম্ভাবনা, বিনীত প্রস্তাব ইত্যাদি বোঝাতে can ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- অর্থাৎ, কেউ কোনো কিছু করতে সক্ষম এরূপ বুঝাতে can ব্যবহার হয়।
- Modal verb গুলোর পরে verb -এর base form বসে।

- উল্লেখ্য can শুধু present indefinite tense এ use হয়।
- আর present perfect ও future tense এ can -এর পরিবর্তে be able to হয়।
- তবে can -এর সাথে be able to ব্যবহার করা যাবে না।

• More examples:
- He can do it.
- She can speak five languages.

• সুতরাং, সঠিক উত্তর হবে- can.

• Little শব্দটি uncountable noun এর পূর্বে বসে।
• Advice একটি uncountable noun।
• তাই সঠিক বাক্যটি হবে- My brother used to help me a lot, but now he gives me little advice.

Repentant - expressing or feeling sincere regret and remorse; remorseful; অনুতপ্ত।
Reluctant - unwilling and hesitant; disinclined; অনিচ্ছুক।

You only have to read/look at/listen to etc something
- We sat around listening to music.
- She refused to listen to reason.
- You only have to look at the statistics to see that things are getting worse.

'Enough' এর আগে adjective বসে৷
সঠিক বাক্য: She is tall enough to reach the shelf.
যার অর্থ: শেলফে পৌছানোর জন্য সে যথেষ্ট লম্বা৷

Correct sentence: No sooner had we reached home than the storm began.

• No sooner had.....than হচ্ছে Correlative conjunction.
- No sooner had.....than যুক্ত বাক্য গঠনের নিয়মাবলী:
- No sooner had + subject + 1st clause (verb এর past participle) + than + subject + 2nd clause (verb এর past form).

• No sooner had, Hardly had, Scarcely had সবগুলোই "করতে না করতেই/ হতে না হতেই" এ রকম অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• নিয়মানুযায়ী,
- No sooner had থাকলে পরের অংশে than (then নয়) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Hardly had থাকলে পরের অংশে when ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Scarcely had থাকলে পরের অংশে when (than নয়) ব্যবহৃত হয়।

More Example:
1. No sooner had he finished his breakfast than the phone rang.
2. No sooner had she stepped outside than it started raining.
3. No sooner had we sat down for dinner than the phone rang.

Other options,
ক) No sooner had we reached home then the storm began.
- ভুল → এখানে “then” ব্যবহার হয়েছে, কিন্তু সঠিক হবে “than”.

খ) No sooner had we reached home than the storm begun.
- ভুল → এখানে “begun” ব্যবহার হয়েছে, কিন্তু “begun” হলো past participle.
- এখানে simple past tense “began” ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

ঘ) No sooner had we reached home than the storm had began.
- ভুল → “had began” ব্যবহার হয়েছে, যা ব্যাকরণগত ভুল (কারণ “had” এর সাথে past participle লাগে, কিন্তু “began” হলো past form, participle নয়)।
- এখানে simple past tense “began” ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

The Bengali meaning of the following words:
Banal: মামুলি; গতানুগতিক; তুচ্ছ
Cogent: জোরালো এবং দৃঢ় প্রত্যয়োৎপাদক।
Hackneyed: অতি প্রচলিত; অতিব্যবহৃত; ব্যবহারজীর্ণ।
Specious: আপাতদৃষ্টিতে যথার্থ বা সত্য বলে মনে হয় এমন; (কিন্তু আসলে তা নয়) ।
শূন্যস্থানে শুধুমাত্র specious শব্দটি বসালে বাক্যটি অর্থপূর্ণ হয়।
The board of directors was not fooled by the manager’specious arguments; his plan was obviously untenable.
বাক্যের অর্থঃ বোর্ড অব ডিরেক্টরস্‌ ম্যানেজারের প্রতারণামূলক যুক্তি দ্বারা প্রতারিত হননি; তার পরিকল্পনাটি ছিল স্পষ্টতই অসমর্থনযোগ্য ।

Set out - যাত্রা করা; বাহির হইয়া পড়া
I shall set out for Dhaka - আমি ঢাকার উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করব।

অর্থাৎ, অপশন (খ) সঠিক উত্তর।

Contemporary (of) - Someone living during the same period as someone else.
Example:
- Cristopher Marlowe was a contemporary of Shakespeare.
- Was he a contemporary of Shakespeare's?

Complete sentence: The glasses are blurred.

- "The glasses are blurred."
- "চশমাটা ঝাপসা।"

- নিম্নলিখিত noun গুলো plural noun তাই এদের সাথে plural verb বসে।
- spectacles, scissors, glasses, wages, amends, auspices, billiards, bowels, pliers, vitals, proceeds etc.
- "Glasses" (eyeglasses) একটি plural noun, তাই এটির plural verb ("are") প্রয়োজন।

• Correct sentence: ঘ) The ewe protects her lamb from danger.
- Bangla meaning: ভেড়িটি তার মেষশাবককে বিপদ থেকে রক্ষা করে।

- প্রদত্ত বাক্যে 'The ewe' হলো 'feminine' এবং singular, তাই singular verb 'protects' এবং possessive 'her' ব্যবহার হবে।

• Ewe [feminine form]
- Bangla meaning: স্ত্রী-ভেড়া ; ভেড়ি।

- এর masculine gender হলো- Ram.

অন্যদিকে,
ক) The ewes → plural. তাই singular verb 'protects' ভুল।

খ) The ram → (পুরুষ মেষ; ভেড়া), singular subject with plural verb, তাই ভুল।

ঘ) The ram → male sheep, তাই "her" lamb ভুল।

• Correct sentence: Paper is made from wood.

• Preposition এর নিয়মানুযায়ী, 
- কোন কিছু থেকে কোনো জিনিস তৈরি হলে যদি এর উপকরণ টি পরিবর্তন হয়ে যায় তাহলে make from হয়।
- যেমন - Paper is made from wood.
- এখানে মূল উপকরণ wood, যা পরিবর্তিত হয়ে Paper হয়েছে।

• আর যদি উপকরণ টি অপরিবর্তিত থাকে তবে made of হয়।
- যেমন - The table is made of wood.
- এখানে মূল উপকরণ  অপরিবর্তিত রয়েছে।

When দ্বারা যুক্ত প্রথম clause টি present tense হলে,
দ্বিতীয় clause টি present indefinite tense হয়।
বাক্যটির অর্থঃ আপনি বাড়িতে পৌঁছে গেলে দয়া করে আমাকে জানাতে ভুলবেন না।

সঠিক উত্তর: খ) The picture was hung on the wall.

"Hang" verb এর  past tense ও past participle আলাদা ব্যবহারে বিভক্ত।

 • Hang(verb) ঝোলা; ঝুলে থাকা; ঝুলানো; ঝুলিয়ে রাখা।
- এই অর্থে এর  past tense, past participle form হবে Hung.
- hang something from the ceiling; a picture hanging on the wall; windows hung with curtains.

• Hang (verb)  ফাঁসি দেওয়া; ফাঁসি হওয়া; ফাঁসি নেওয়া
- এই অর্থে এর past tense, past participle form hanged হবে। 
- He was hanged for murder, খুনের দায়ে ফাঁসি হয়েছে;
- He hanged himself, ফাঁস নিয়ে মরেছে।

অর্থাৎ, যখন কোনো ছবি বা বস্তু দেওয়ালে ঝুলানো হয়, তখন past tense ও past participle হলো hung.
- যখন কারো ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানো হয়, তখন past tense ও past participle হলো hanged.

• যেহেতু এখানে ছবি দেয়ালে ঝুলানো হয়েছে, তাই সঠিক ব্যবহার হবে: was hung.

Other options,

ক) The picture was hanged on the wall.
- Hanged ব্যবহার হয় ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানো এর জন্য, যেমন Execution-এর ক্ষেত্রে।
- এখানে ছবির প্রসঙ্গ, তাই ভুল।

খ) The picture was hunged on the wall.
- এখানে, Hunged হলো ভুল বানান; English-এ hung হলো সঠিক past participle.

ঘ) The picture had hanged on the wall.
- hanged ফাঁসির জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- এছাড়া, past perfect tense "had hanged" এখানে প্রয়োজন নেই, কারণ সাধারণ description দেওয়া হচ্ছে।

• কতগুলো Noun এর শেষে f থাকলে শুধু s যোগ করে plural করা হয়। যেমন:
- Roof --- Roofs
- Chief --- Chiefs
- Belief --- Beliefs
- Proof --- Proofs
- Brief ---- Briefs
- Gulf ---- Gulfs ইত্যাদি।
- Wife এর plural হচ্ছে Wives.
- Shelf এর plural হচ্ছে Shelves.
- Wolf এর plural হচ্ছে Wolves.

• Complete sentence: Twenty thousand dollars is lots of money.
- Bangla meaning: বিশ হাজার ডলার অনেক টাকা।

• Subject-Verb Agreement অনুযায়ী,
- Time, Distance, Length, Weight, Money -এদের এককের সমষ্টি দেখতে plural হলেও যখন এই সমষ্টিকে একটি unit হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয় তখন সেটি singular verb গ্রহণ করে।

- যখন কোনো sum of money, distance, time, weight ইত্যাদি একক হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়, তখন তাকে singular ধরা হয়—যদিও তা plural-এর মতো দেখতে হয়।

- অর্থাৎ, অবিচ্ছেদ্য একটি সমষ্টি হিসেবে একই দৈর্ঘ্য, পরিমাণ, সময়, দূরত্ব, বয়স, টাকা, ইত্যাদি Plural হলেও verb - Singular হয়।
- এখানে, "Expressions of time/distance/Money" কে "single entities" হিসেবে ধরা হয়।

- প্রশ্নে প্রদত্ত বাক্যে 'Twenty thousand dollars' কে একত্রে একটি unit হিসেবে ধরা হয়।
- তাই শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক verb টি হবে- 'is'.

• Complete sentence: As long as nations cannot themselves accumulate enough physical power to dominate all others, they must depend on allies.
- Bangla meaning: যতক্ষণ না জাতিগুলি নিজেরাই অন্য সকলের উপর আধিপত্য বিস্তার করার জন্য পর্যাপ্ত শারীরিক শক্তি সঞ্চয় করতে না পারে, ততক্ষণ তাদের অবশ্যই মিত্রদের উপর নির্ভর করতে হবে।

• Given options:
ক) self-determination - আত্মনিয়ন্ত্রণ; স্বাধীন সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের অধিকার।

খ) freedom - স্বাধীনতা।

গ) resources - সম্পদ।

ঘ) allies - সহযোগী; মিত্র; সহায়তা বা সমর্থনদানকারী।

- বাক্যটি আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক ও ক্ষমতার ভারসাম্য (balance of power) নিয়ে আলোচনা করছে।
- যদি কোনো দেশ একা সবাইকে আধিপত্য করার মতো শক্তি (physical power/military might) অর্জন করতে না পারে, তাহলে তাকে অন্য দেশগুলোর সাথে জোট গঠন করে নির্ভর করতে হয়।
- Allies মানে মিত্র বা জোটসঙ্গী — এটি রাজনীতি ও কূটনীতির প্রসঙ্গে সবচেয়ে উপযুক্ত এবং প্রচলিত শব্দ।

- সুতরাং, শব্দগুলোর অর্থানুযায়ী বুঝা যাচ্ছে যে, বাক্যটির অর্থ পরিপূর্ণ করতে হলে শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক শব্দ হবে- allies.
