কিছু adverb আছে যেগুলো গঠনগত ভাবে negative বা নেতিবাচক।
যেমন – hardly, rarely, scarcely, barely, seldom ইত্যাদি।
এই adverb গুলো বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হলে সেই বাক্যে আলাদা negative expression ব্যবহৃত হয় না।

Correct answer: খ) to change.

“had better” এর পরে base form of verb আসে, কখনও “to” আসে না।

সঠিক: had better change.
ভুল: had better to change.

• Had better এর পরে verb এর base form বসে।
- এখানে had হলো unreal past বা অবাস্তব অতীত।
- Had better অর্থ তবুও/ বরং ভালো।
- এ ধরণের বাক্য সবসময় present বা future অর্থ প্রদান করে।
- Had better যুক্ত sentence past tense এর হলেও তা মূলত past tense নয়।

• No sooner had, Hardly had, Scarcely had এবং As soon as সবগুলোই 'করতে না করতেই/ হতে না হতেই' অর্থে ব্যবহার করা হয়।

• নিয়ম অনুসারে, 
- No sooner had থাকলে পরের অংশে than (not then) ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- Hardly had থাকলে পরের অংশে when (not than) ব্যবহার করা হয়;
- Scarcely had থাকলে পরের অংশে when (not than) ব্যবহার করা হয়;
- As soon as থাকলে পরের অংশে শুধু কমা (,) ব্যবহার করা হয়। 

- No sooner had এরপর 1st clause এর subject বসে।
- Verb এর past participle + than বসে।
- 2nd clause এর subject বসে।
- Verb এর past form করতে হবে।

• First conditional sentence:
- অর্থাৎ, First Conditional এর নিয়মানুযায়ী 'IF" যুক্ত clause টি এ Present tense থাকলে অপর clause টি এ Future Indefinite হয়।
- Structure: If + Present Simple, (Future indefinite) sub + will + base verb.
- উপরের If + subordinate clauseটি present perfect tense. তাই তার অপর অংশটি অর্থাৎ principal clauseটি future indefinite tense গঠন করে sentenceটি complete করা হয়েছে।

• প্রদত্ত sentence টিতে became হলো linking verb.
- সাধারণত Linking verb এরপর adverb/ adjective বসে।

সঠিক উত্তর হবে গ) than.
"Hardly had" এর সাথে "than" নয়, "when" ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

• Hardly এর ব্যবহার: 
- Hardly অর্থ সবেমাত্র।
