I have few friends here- বাক্যে 'few' হচ্ছে determiner.

little, a little, a few, few এগুলো হচ্ছে quantifier determiners.
এগুলো দ্বারা কোনো কিছুর পরিমান, সংখ্যা এগুলোকে নির্দেশ করা হয়।

• Little, a little বসে uncountable noun এর ক্ষেত্রে এবং a few, few বসে countable noun এর ক্ষেত্রে।

• উল্লিখিত প্রশ্নে Determiner হচ্ছে no.

• Determiner এর প্রধান কাজ Noun/ Pronoun কে Determine করা।

• Noun:
- Noun বা বিশেষ্য হচ্ছে কোন কিছুর নাম, যা ব্যক্তি, স্থান, বস্তু, ঘটনা, বা ধারণাকে প্রকাশ করে।

• Proper noun:
- যে Noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্টভাবে কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান, সংস্থা, প্রতিষ্ঠান, পদবী ইত্যাদি বুঝানো হয় তাকে proper noun বলে।
- যেমন- Dhaka, Sun, Karim, Padma ইত্যাদি।

• Common noun:
- যে Noun দ্বারা একই জাতীয় কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীকে নির্দিষ্ট করে না বুঝিয়ে সে জাতীয় সকলকে একসাথে বুঝায় তাকেই Common Noun বলে ।যেমন, Bank, Student, Book, Dog, Flower etc.

• Material noun:
- যে Noun দ্বারা কোন বস্তু বা পদার্থকে নির্দেশ করে তাকে Material noun বলে। Material noun সাধারণত uncountable noun হয়। একে গণনা করা যায় না কিন্তু পরিমাপ বা ওজন করা যায়।Silver, Iron, Cotton, Diamond, Milk, Paint, Rubber, Paper, Steel, Sand, Wood, Mutton, Sugar, Oil etc. are material nouns.

যে Noun কোন অবস্তুগত ধারণা বা গুণকে নির্দেশ করে, যার কোন বাহ্যিক অস্তিত্ব নেই এবং যা ছোঁয়া যায় না, গন্ধ দ্বারা বা শ্রবণ দ্বারা বোঝা যায় না, কিন্তু কল্পনা দ্বারা বোঝা যায় তাকে Abstract Noun বলে।
যেমন - Honesty, Boyhood, Justice, Slavery ইত্যাদি।

• The patriot in him could not bear the sight.
- Here, the underlined word is- Abstract Noun.

• 'Patriot' সাধারণত Common Noun হলেও, এই বাক্যে 'patriot' Abstract noun হয়েছে।
- কারণ Common Noun টি দ্বারা অভ্যন্তরীণ গুণ বোঝালে তা Abstract noun হয়ে যায়।
- এক্ষেত্রে Common Noun -এর পূর্বে 'The' এবং পরে সাধারণত 'in' হয়।

• Uncountable ও abstract noun এর আগে article ব্যবহার হয় না।
- তবে Abstract noun এর পূর্বে Article (the) বসিয়ে সেটিকে নির্দিষ্ট করলে তা Common noun এ পরিণত হয়।

• Common noun:
- যে সব noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্ট কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা স্থানের নাম না বুঝিয়ে একজাতীয় সবাইকেই বোঝায় তাদেরকে Common noun বলে।
- কিছু Common noun হচ্ছে- man, boy, girl, teacher, student, city, king, country, patriot, river, etc.

অন্যদিকে,
• Proper Noun
- A proper noun is the name of a particular person, place or thing.
- যে Noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্টভাবে কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান, সংস্থা, প্রতিষ্ঠান, পদবী ইত্যাদি বুঝানো হয় তাকে proper noun বলে।
- যেমন: Dhaka, Sun, Karim, Padma, Meghna, etc.

• Abstract Noun:
- যে Noun কোনো অবস্তুগত ধারণা বা গুনকে নির্দেশ করে, যার কোনো বাহ্যিক অস্তিত্ব নেই এবং যা ছোঁয়া যায় না, গন্ধ দ্বারা বা শ্রবন দ্বারা বোঝা যায় না কিন্তু কল্পনা দ্বারা বোঝা যায় তাদেরকে Abstract Noun বলে।
- কিছু Abstract noun হচ্ছে- Motherhood, honesty, justice, kindness, faith, humanity, etc.

• Collective noun
- যে সকল noun দ্বারা সমজাতীয় কিছু ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা স্থানের অবিভক্ত সমষ্টিকে বোঝায় তাদেরকে Collective noun বলে।
- অর্থাৎ, কিছু Common noun-এর সমষ্টিকেই Collective noun বলে।
- কিছু collective noun হচ্ছে- cattle, herd, army, public, library, jury, committee, crew, majority, minority, etc.

- Collective noun এর পূর্বে article বসলেও তা collective noun থাকে, common noun হয় না।

cattle সব সময় plural হিসেবেই ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• কতগুলো word আছে যাদের singular এবং plural form একই থাকে। যেমন:
- Deer - There is one deer, and there are many deer.
- Sheep - There is one sheep, and there are many sheep.
- Swine - There is one swine, and there are many swine.
- Corps - Marine Corps, Several corps from different countries participated in the exercise.
- Aircraft - There is one aircraft, and there are many aircraft.
- Spacecraft - There is one spacecraft, and there are many spacecraft.

Determiner মানে নির্ধারণকারী। যে word অন্য word এর নির্দিষ্টতা, অনির্দিষ্টতা, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি নির্ধারণ করে দেয়, তাকে determiner বলে।
এখানে ‘অল্প কিছু’ অর্থ বুঝাতে determiner হিসেবে a few বসেছে।

যে word অন্য word এর নির্দিষ্টতা, অনির্দিষ্টতা, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি নির্ধারণ করে দেয় তা ই Determiner।
certain - কোন একটা নির্দিষ্ট, এটি Determiner।

• Complete sentence: A pack of wolves with gray fur was walking in a snowy forest.
- Bangla meaning: ধূসর পশমওয়ালা নেকড়ের দল তুষারাবৃত বনে হেঁটে যাচ্ছিল।

- wolf এর জন্য collective noun হিসেবে pack ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• Pack
- English Meaning: a group or pile of related objects; a group of often predatory animals of the same kind.
- Bangla Meaning: দল; গুচ্ছ; একত্রে বিচরণ করা বন্য প্রাণীর দল।

- যেমন: A pack of wolves, a pack of wild dogs, a pack of hounds; a pack of thieves; a pack of lies, etc.

অন্যদিকে,
• Herd (collective noun):
- English Meaning: A large group of animals, especially hoofed mammals, that live, feed, or migrate together or are kept together as livestock.
- Bangla Meaning: (বিশেষত গবাদিপশুর) দল; পাল।
- যেমন: a herd of cattle/deer/ elephants, etc.

• Flight (collective noun):
- English Meaning: a group of birds, aircraft, etc. flying together,
- Bangla Meaning: (উড্ডীয়মান) ঝাঁক।
- যেমন: a flight of geese/swans/locusts, a flight of arrows/swits, etc.

• Team (collective noun):
- English Meaning: a number of people or animals who do something together as a group.
- Bangla Meaning: পরস্পর সহযোগিতা করে কাজ বা খেলা করে এমন ব্যক্তিবর্গ; কর্মীদল; প্রাণীর দল।
- যেমন: a basketball/hockey/football team, a team of oxen, a team of players, etc.

No শব্দটি adverb, determiner, এবং noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
১ম অপশনে ব্যবহৃত No শব্দটি determiner হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
এরকম ক্ষেত্রে যা উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে তার বিপরীত অর্থ বোঝাতে no ব্যবহার করা হয়। এখানে easy শব্দটার determiner হিসেবে no বসানো হয়েছে এবং তার ফলে easy-এর বিপরীত অর্থ প্রকাশ পেয়েছে।
২য় অপশনে ব্যবহৃত No শব্দটি noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
কারণ এটি এই বাক্যের object হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। receive-verbটিকে কী দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করে আমরা উত্তর হিসেবে no শব্দটি পাই। তাই, এটি noun এবং object।

শূণ্যস্থানের পূর্বে বসা than শব্দটি preposition এবং conjunction উভয় হিসেবেই ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে। তাই preposition হিসেবে ধরে নিলে উত্তর হবে me আর conjunction হিসেবে ধরে নিলে উত্তর হবে I যার পরে am উহ্য আছে।
Preposition: John likes Peter more than me.
Conjunction: John is taller than I am.
or
John is taller than I. (This is just a more succinct version.)

বি: দ্র: যদিও উভয়টিই সঠিক তথাপি অনেক ব্যাকরণবিদ “than me’’ এর তুলনায় “than I” কে বেশি প্রাধান্য দিয়ে থাকেন। তাই যদি প্রশ্নে উল্লেখিত option এ me এবং I উল্লেখ থাকে তাহলে I কে উত্তর করব।

Option (b) হবে না। কারণ Reflexive Pronoun বাক্যে obj. হিসেবে বসে। আর Reflexive Pronoun হওয়ার জন্য শর্ত হলো Subject এবং obj. একি ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু হতে হবে। যা উক্ত বাক্যে পাওয়া যায় না।
Option (d) হবে না। কারণ assertive sentence এ সাধারণত subject + verb বসে যা কিনা উক্ত অপশনে পাওয়া যায়নি।

Warning:: Some words that begin with a vowel letter in writing have a consonant sound:

Insanity (noun) [uncountable noun] 
- উন্মাদরোগ; বাতুলতা; মস্তিষ্কবিকৃতি; বুদ্ধিভ্রংশ; ক্ষিপ্ততা।

Focus একটি বিদেশী শব্দ যা ইংরেজি ভাষায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। ইংরেজি ভাষায় ব্যবহৃত বিদেশী শব্দগুলোর singular-plural রূপে বৈচিত্র দেখা যায়। focus শব্দটি ‍singular।
এর plural রূপ 2টি। যথা: Focuses ও Foci. ‍

ইংরেজি ভাষায় plural বানানোর স্বাভাবিক নিয়ম হলো noun এর শেষে s/es যোগ করা। কিন্তু কিছু বিদেশী শব্দ রয়েছে যেগুলোর plural স্বাভাবিক নিয়মে হয় না। সেগুলো মুখস্ত করে নেয়াই যুক্তিযুক্ত।

• Possessive Adjective + noun এর পরিবর্তে Possessive Pronoun (mine, his, hers, theirs, yours etc.) ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ

- My dog is smarter than theirs.
