Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection

◉ Correct sentence - I don't want to argue with you over something so trivial.

- 'মতের অমিল বা ভিন্নমত পোষণ করা' অর্থে 'Argue (with somebody) (about/over something)' ব্যবহৃত হয়।

1. Argue (with somebody) (about/over something):
Meaning - মতের অমিল বা ভিন্নমত পোষণ করা; ঝগড়া করা:
- The siblings argue constantly about who gets to use the car.
- She argued with her husband about their vacation plans.
- My parents are arguing over household expenses.

2. Argue (for/against/that…):
Meaning - (মত ইত্যাদি) পোষণ বা সমর্থন করা; (কাউকে বোঝাতে কোনো কিছুর সমর্থনের পক্ষে; বিপক্ষে) যুক্তি দেখানো:
- He argues for greater freedom of the press.
- She argued against the proposed changes to the curriculum.

3. Argue somebody into/out of doing something:
Meaning - যুক্তি দিয়ে কাউকে কোনো কিছু করতে বা কোনো কিছু করা থেকে বিরত হতে প্রবৃত্ত করা বা রাজি করানো:
- I tried to argue him into giving up politics.
- His friends argued him out of quitting his job.

Though বা although এর অর্থ যদিও, তথাপি, কিছু হওয়া সত্বেও।
Sentence এর দুটি clause এর বিপরীতমুখীতা বুঝাতে Though বা although ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Though the situation infuriated him, he did his best to hide his anger. -
যদিও পরিস্থিতি তাকে বিরক্ত করেছিল, সে তার রাগ লুকানোর জন্য যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করেছিল।

Weed out someone/something: to get rid of people or things that are not wanted.
The administration plans to weed out failed programs.

Correct answer: Fie!.
- Fie! একটি আবেগসূচক শব্দ যা প্রধানত "disgust or disapproval" বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- চুপ করা বা শান্ত হওয়া বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- উত্তেজনা, আনন্দ বা বিজয় প্রকাশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• Transitive verb এরপর কোন Preposition বসে না।
- সরাসরি Object বসে।
- কিছু কিছু Transitive verb হলো: paint, answer, concern, reach, resemble, violate, discuss, resign, sign, investigate, recommend, order, command, enter ইত্যাদি।

• discuss একটি transitive verb, তাই এর পরে direct object বসে।
- এখানে the plan thoroughly হলো verb এর object, তাই কোনো preposition দরকার হয় না।

Stick at nothing:
English Meaning - To continue trying hard to do something difficult. 
Example Sentence - He will stick at nothing to make money. 

Complete Sentence - He was so ambitious that he would stick at nothing to climb the corporate ladder.

এছাড়াও, 
Stick at something - (ক) দ্বিধা করা; থমকে যাওয়া।
(খ) নাছোড়বান্দার মতো লেগে থাকা; কোনোকিছুর সঙ্গে আঠার মতো জড়িয়ে থাকা।
Stick on something - শক্তভাবে অবস্থান করা। 
Stick to - অব্যাহত রাখা। 
Stick with somebody/something - অনুগত থাকা; সমর্থন অব্যাহত রাখা।

Why (Interjection)
- Bangla Meaning: বিস্ময়সূচক। 
- English Meaning: used to express mild surprise, hesitation, approval, disapproval, or impatience.

- তাছাড়া, why, শব্দটি noun, adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

- “Why! I never expected to see you here.”
- কেন! আমি কখনো আশা করিনি তোমাকে এখানে দেখতে পাবো।

- এখানে “Why!” বিস্ময় বা হতবাক অবস্থা প্রকাশ করছে। তাই এটি বিস্ময়সূচক শব্দ (interjection) হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

• Compound Preposition:
- Compound Prepositions: Compound prepositions are those prepositions that are made by prefixing the preposition to a noun, an adjective or an adverb.
- Noun বা Adjective বা Adverb এর পূর্বে Simple Preposition যুক্ত হয়ে যে preposition গঠিত হয়, তাকে Compound Preposition বলে।
- Compound Preposition গঠন করতে সাধারণত: on এর স্থলে a এবং by এর স্থলে b বা be হয়। 
- Example: about (on+by+out), behind (by+hind), before (by+fore), above (on+by+up), along (on+long), etc.

• Simple Preposition:
- যে preposition গুলো একটি word দিয়ে গঠিত সেগুলো Simple Preposition.

• Double Preposition:

- কিন্তু তারা ঠিক একটি preposition এর মতো কাজ করে।

• Disguised Preposition:
- কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে on, in ও of -এর পরিবর্তে a এবং o ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং word - এর শুরুতে বসে।
- এরূপ preposition হল Disguised preposition বা ছদ্মবেশী
- যেমন: a hunting, ashore, ahead = a = on অর্থাৎ এখানে on পরিবর্তে a ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

- দোষী সাব্যস্ত করা; অপরাধী বলে রায় দেওয়া। 
- কাউকে কোন বিষয়ে অভিযুক্ত করা অর্থে Convict এর সাথে 'of' preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Live on
- It's a phrasal verb. 
- যার অর্থ: to continue to live or exist. বাংলায় বেঁচে থাকা। যেমন:  Tania died ten years ago but her memory lives on.

এর পরে আসবে,

Live on something
- to eat a particular type of food to live. বা নির্দিষ্ট কোন খাবার খেয়ে বা অবলম্বন করে বেঁচে থাকা। যেমন:    Small birds live mainly on insects.

প্রশ্নে বলা হচ্ছে, গরু ঘাস খেয়ে বেঁচে থাকে,
সুতরাং, সঠিক উত্তর হবে- The cow lives on grass.

• But (conjunction): 
- দুটি phrase/clause কে যুক্ত করতে বিভিন্ন অর্থে (if not: unless; that; yet ইত্যাদি অর্থে) But - conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।

- যেমন: We tried hard but could not succeed.
- এখানে 'We tried hard' এবং 'could not succeed' দুটি clause -এর মধ্যে contrast দেখাতে "কিন্তু; তবে" অর্থে But - conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

ক) Until (Conjunction)
- যে পর্যন্ত না; যতক্ষণে না; না… পর্যন্ত (সময়ের ধারাবাহিকতা বোঝায়)।
- 'until' negative অর্থ প্রদান করে, তাই এর পরে no/not/never ইত্যাদি বসে না।
- 'until' যুক্ত clause টি সাধারণত বাক্যের শুরুতে বসে না।
- যেমন: We played until it got dark.

গ) Although (Conjunction)
- দুটি clause -এর মধ্যে বিপরীতমুখীতা বুঝাতে ''যদিও; যদ্যপি; সত্ত্বেও'' অর্থে clause -এর পরে Although বসে।
- যেমন: Although she was ill, she went to college.

ঘ) Since (Conjunction)
- "যেহেতু" বা "তারপর থেকে" অর্থে Since ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- যেমন: He has held two jobs since he graduated.

Shout - to say something very loudly → scream, yell

Shout at
- I wish you’d stop shouting at the children.
Shout for
- We could hear them shouting for help.
- ‘Watch out!’ she shouted, as the car started to move.
Shout something at somebody
- He was shouting insults at the lorry driver.
Shout something to somebody
- ‘He’s down here!’ she shouted to Alison.

• You shout at someone when you are angry with them:
- My teacher never shouts at us.
• You shout to someone when you want them to hear you:
- He shouted to me to throw down the rope.
- He had to shout to make himself heard above the near gale-force wind.

• Shh! (interjection)
English Meaning: used to ask someone to be quiet or to lower their voice.
Bangla Meaning: চুপ থাকার বা নীরব হওয়ার নির্দেশসূচক অব্যয় – চুপ!, চুপচাপ!
- তাই শূন্যস্থানে সঠিক উত্তর হবে Shh!, কারণ এটি শান্ত বা নীরব থাকার ইঙ্গিত দেয়।

- Shh! Be careful! Mother is sleeping.

• Interjection (অব্যয় পদ)
- যা দ্বারা মনের আকস্মিক আবেগ, অনুভূতি ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ পায়, তাকে Interjection বলে।
