- যে Noun দ্বারা কোন বস্তু বা পদার্থকে নির্দেশ করে তাকে Material noun বলে।
- Material noun সাধারণত uncountable noun হয়। একে গণনা করা যায় না কিন্তু পরিমাপ বা ওজন করা যায়।
- Sugar (চিনি) হলো Material noun, কারণ এটি পদার্থ বা বস্তু বাচক এবং একে গণনা করা যায় না কিন্তু পরিমাপ বা ওজন করা যায়।
- আরো উদাহরণ: Silver, Iron, Cotton, Diamond, Milk, Paint, Rubber, Paper, Steel, Sand, Wood, Mutton, Oil etc.

• Studentship হচ্ছে Abstract noun - কারণ এর কোনো বাহ্যিক অস্তিত্ব নেই এবং ছোঁয়া যায় না; গন্ধ বা শ্রবণ দ্বারা বুঝা যায় না; কিন্তু শুধু কল্পনা দ্বারা বুঝা যায়।

- Abstarct Noun হলো সেই noun যা কোন অবস্তুগত ধারণা বা গুণকে নির্দেশ করে; যার কোনো বাহ্যিক অস্তিত্ব নেই এবং যা ছোঁয়া যায় না; গন্ধ বা শ্রবণ দ্বারা বুঝা যায় না; কিন্তু শুধু কল্পনা দ্বারা বুঝা যায়।
যেমন: Honesty, boyhood, justice, heroism ইত্যাদি।

• Collective Noun:
- A Collective Noun is the name of a number (or collection) of persons or things taken together and spoken of as one whole.
- যে সকল Noun দ্বারা সমজাতীয় কিছু ব্যক্তি, বস্তুর সমষ্টিকে বোঝায় তাদেরকে Collective Noun বলে।
- অর্থাৎ কিছু Common Noun এর সমষ্টিকেই collective noun বলে।
- কিছু collective noun হচ্ছে - cattle, herd, army, public, library, jury, committee, crew, majority, minority, etc.
