• Phrase
- A phrase is a group of words which has no subject and finite verb together and acts as a small element of a sentence.
- Phrase হচ্ছে একটি শব্দগুচ্ছ (a group of words) যা কোনো একটি একক পদের (single part of speech) মত ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- Phrase -এর subject এবং verb থাকলেও subject এবং finite verb এক সাথে থাকে না।
- যেমন: I saw the fox without a tail.
- বাক্যটিতে the fox without a tail হচ্ছে Phrase.

• Verbal Phrase:
- যে phrase - verb -এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Verbal Phrase বলে।
- A verbal phrase consists of a main verb alone, or a main verb plus any modal and/or auxiliary verbs.
- এ জাতীয় phrase গুলোকে আবার Group Verb ও বলা হয়।
- Example: The girl looks after her cat.
- Bangla meaning: মেয়েটি তার বিড়ালের যত্ন নেয়।

• প্রদত্ত অপশনের, The girl looks after her cat. এই sentence টিতে 'looks after' হচ্ছে Verbal Phrase.
- কারণ, এটি verb -এর কাজ করছে এবং verb দ্বারা শেষ হয়েছে।

• অন্যান্য অপশনগুলোতে,
- ক) The boy is in the street.- বাক্যে 'in the street' হচ্ছে - adverbial phrase.
- গ) The girl playing with the toy is my sister. বাক্যে playing with the toy হচ্ছে - Adjective Phrase.
- ঘ) The boy runs as though he were in a race. বাক্যে as though হচ্ছে - Conjunctional Phrase.
